Thought I better paste it instead of a link because things will change during the season. Encouraging turn around for our team. Looks like we decided to pound it inside and go to the basket instead of firing threes that we don't seem very good at. I had fun watching us play against ORU last night. I haven't said that for a while.

Nice to see the trapping press wr made something like 30 free throws we only attempted five threes making one

We have not earned a high ranking yet. When we have actually been ranked we failed. Tough to complain about being under ranked and feeling slighted when we have a recent history of tanking when it counts. Now with new coaches everything changes No, we still have to prove we belong. Hopefully with these changes we can prove we belong sooner than later. And then, more than a one year shot, year in and year out consistency in proving we belong. That way we can get the benefit of the doubt. Everyone here already knows this.

I can’t imagine very high fan attendance in Grand Forks for this.

“The hockey game is sort of incidental “ I agree with this statement. In fact this is the way it is with me. UND hockey is an experience, of which part of the experience is the game. I enjoy the pregame and intermission as much as the game. In fact, for me not growing playing hockey, the game itself is many time monotonous. This will make me pretty popular here. The game itself can be exciting at times. I am there to enjoy the crowd, band, friends, people watching and yes watch the game. if we expect students to go to the game solely because they are big hockey fans I think we will fail. Same with all our sports. It has to be a fun total experience.

We don’t seem to have the luxury of the cash needed to get to the next level. I am guessing that salary levels limit who wants to coach here. I agree with Siouxperman

Decided to read some of this thread for the first time. wow!!

First off. - thanks for your service John. That was a difficult time for many and our nation. It had a profound effect on my brother that served in Vietnam. Sscondly, I hope I will be able to be as fiesty when or if I turn 74. I certainly don’t agree with many of the things you post - especially about those of us that grew up in North Dakota. I am proud of my state. Born and raised here. Never left with no regrets. carry on sir. I wish you the best and hope you are surrounded by those that mean a lot to you.

Thanks scpa - My understanding is that this league has been around for a while and some kids are already playing for the league. Just having it Grand Forks might entice a few more to go for it, but as you say, there would be tryouts and everyone wouldn't make it. Again, pardon my ignorance, but is there some sort of draft system? Can kids get traded? Or, do kids get to choose which team they would like to tryout for and then they are with the team for the year - or can they be released?

Would someone bring me up to speed on this? Does this mean that high school kids would stay in their existing school but just not play hockey for that school? They would play for this league instead. Would they be able to go back and forth the next year if they changed their mind? Would it affect playing for other sports at their high school? Thanks in advance.

I find the changes exciting. They bring back some hope that we can be successful next year. I still find it somewhat bizarre, if this is what turns things around, that it took this long. This is a big "if". Hopefully!!!! By the way - Happy New Year everyone!!!

Same story line from coach: "We fell too far behind and couldn't make enough plays to take back the lead" And coach will expect us to be satisfied that we know why we lost.

Boy, really don't know what team will show up. The high end is we can play with some teams sometime. The low end is we suck and get blown out. This gets old.

As far as who needs each other the most between UND or minn I don’t know or really care. I do care about college hockey attendance. I do care about expanding the number of teams. Higher attendance and more strong programs help all teams.
