  1. Well when any news comes out that threatens their sacred cows, like Conrad's sweetheart mortgage loan scandal, or Dorgan's relationship with the Abramoff group, the Herald acts as their defense rather than looking into it. In the referenced Conrad scandal Conrad was getting into it deeper and deeper until he shut up and let the Forum/Herald take over.
  2. Um because the GF Herald is completely in bed with the University Administration no matter how much they trod on their readers' interests.
  3. Kelley works for the Board of Higher Education who ought to be working for the people of North Dakota. If an employee is working with his immediate boss against the will of the owners of the company he gets fired at the same time as his immediate boss does. I say it can't come soon enough.
  4. Kelley didn't deny doing it. He denied remembering telling Douple to lie to the public. So is it Joe Kelley or Bob Chapman?
  5. The University Foundation charged university departments for at least some of the trips. The fact that this isn't tax money doesn't mean it's not STATE money and has to be spent and accounted for in the same way other state money is. So while I know you're a good guy, that's not a good point. I see no reason whatsoever that the University President should have a private luxury jet. He runs a state institution, not one with offices all over the country.
  6. It's unacceptable for Blais to miss the NCAA 16 two years in a row. He's getting the big money to bring home the championship.
  7. If I show remorse will I avoid the suspension?
  8. You can't get very far on whining alone.
  9. I wouldn't be surprised. I wouldn't blame the coaching staff for the record that they have had the last two seasons. I think their failure to compete in much of the season is the reason they should be fired. I expect at least a major shakeup with at least Hill gone. In case nobody got it, the Gophers were a pretty good program until tDon hired his buddy hill.
  10. What I'm afraid of is that tDon will get fired and they'll promote John Hill up to head coach.
  11. When I get a fact wrong I appreciate having it corrected. Thank you.
  12. Handy to have the final five and the frozen four right there in the Twin Cities so Don Lucia doesn't miss them. From the stands.
  13. Does the State Senate represent us or the NCAA? Time will tell.

    1. Goon

      Goon

That is a very good question Whistler, I have no faith in our elected leaders though.

  14. I was going to blame it on East Coast bias.
  15. Well LM Windpower seems to be doing well so far. But of course that industry benefits from mandates and subsidies. I don't believe that has paid for itself, but I really don't know. I've been unable to determine just how much we've given them. In my opinion it's immoral to take my money against my will and give it to a private enterprise. The people that wrote that section of the state constitution apparently felt the same way.
  16. It's easy to blog provided you're obsessive compulsive....
  17. It seems that the vote has been pushed back because a number of our fearless leaders have decided to flee the country on a junket to Europe. Don't worry about them, between the taxpayers and the special corporate interests our leaders won't have to pay a dime. http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/north-dakota-officials-legislators-and-lobbyist-take-go-on-a-merry-jaunt-to-denmark-on-taxpayers-dime/
  18. I hate to correct you but the figure reported in the Herald recently was that they owe us $1.5 million in back rent. And the geniuses in the Grand Forks Government bought 699,000 shares of their stock. I think if they want to play the market they should spend their own money. Never mind that governments owning stock in a private business is contrary to the ND constitution, Section X article 18. Maybe some would say this was a good idea but when did the public have a chance to weigh in? http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/grand-forks-economic-development-showpiece-sold-to-china/#comment-160759903
  19. Half of my blogging seems to be on uncovering factual errors put out by the GF Herald. When I email the facts to the reporter I might get a response but never a correction.
  20. What ironic about that is that Williams and Ree have been out there for 40 years and probably brought the races together as much as anyone by having us laugh at ourselves.
  21. What's interesting is that I saw the story on the Herald's site linked over to 'daz. I posted it on SayAnythingBlog, sourcing WDAZ, not knowing it probably started out here. I'm not surprised that reporters are doing more research out on the blogs. With the cutbacks they have they aren't out on the streets very often anymore. It's got to be a lot more efficient getting your story ideas off of the net.
  22. That six million set to "freeze" tuition wouldn't have been what I would have cut. Helping out the kids is my only priority when it comes down to higher ed. But even so that's only pittance compared to the over all funding increase in the House Bill. I think there is money there for the NDUS to put off any tuition increase. They will increase it though because in my opinion they only care about the administration and faculties.
