If I was those guys I'd stick it in the law's face and stay around until they can drink legally at Judy's.
-
My understanding is that the DII and DIII schools (CC) get their expenses covered. I consider the NCAA policy hostile and abusive.
-
The one thing IMO would have made a difference has happened, the rest of the team staying together. It's still iffy, but maybe now we've got a chance. That would start us out as the preseason pick now wouldn't it.
-
that's pretty good news. JK, It's GREATTTTT!!!! If there's one thing that would get Toews to return, it's this.
-
He's just in Algebra because it's a good time.
-
I find that an hostile and abusive thing to say considering what happened ten years ago.
-
I knew it all the time! Whew, (wipes sweat off of forehead.)

What I haven't understood is why we (or other teams) don't change up the defense due to different circumstances. I remember one time in the playoffs against Denver (First round) Blais changed the forecheck which made a great difference. But then we didn't resort to it again. Once they start being able to defeat the trap then you can change it around again. A trap leads to a lot of neutral zone turnovers which can create some odd man rushes. It doesn't change up your offensive zone game.

I don't think the CIA is going to allowing Duncan to sign until he completes his secret mission here. You didn't know he was a secret agent? I wasn't supposed to let anyone know about that? Wait I take this post back, it was only a j................................

The bottom line is that we were tied up with 4 minutes left when the referee made a bad call that cost us the game. Now we very well could have lost the game fair and square in overtime, but that's the only qualification. BC is a great team from a great program. We were lucky (and skillful) to kill off as many penalties that we did actually take. But you can't have a bad call happen at that stage of a national championship game.

UND Hockey in the late 60's and early 70's
The Whistler replied to farce poobah's topic in Men's Hockey
I don't know if I remember many stories but I do recall that when we moved in to the Winter Sports Building that lots of people were complaining that people were dressing up to go there. It just didn't have the same atmosphere. How about the time that our mascot, Kermit got stolen by another team. (I forget which one now) The said we had to sweep to get it back. We swept 'em. The antics of the Farce were always interesting. They'd bring some big dollar bills and try to buy off the refs. I think it was Dewey Marcus that would talk to them and take the money and think about it. One guy in the student section would bring an actual bullhorn. Roger Lameroux told me that one time he was playing a game and got slightly dinged up. Rube Bjorkman told him to get back in the game on the next shift. Rube started to get on him and Roger's like "I gotta put my skate back on." Not much good there but.... -
Thanks, who did Parise and Bochinski play with in their Freshman/Sophmore year respectively? My memory tells me they did play together.
-
Parise came the year before Murray, right. So Parise's first year didn't Zach and Bo play together with.....Stafford?
-
Bryan Lundbohm? Then the other great line we had was Ulmer, Goren and ??
-
One lesson from last year. It doesn't pay to be optimistic. I was pretty sure that Travis Zajac would be back for his junior year. Not only was I dead wrong about that, I was dead wrong about him struggling to make the big club. It's hard to figure out where a player's going to fit in to the NHL by the way they play college hockey. (At least it's hard for me, but lots of things are.)
-
Doesn't Chicago need him for their playoff run? /sarcasm.
-
Someone posted that Stafford wished he would have come back (before his final call-up). Maybe a guy like that will give some of the younger guys the pros and cons of making the move early. I could see if you're ready to move into the NHL that you should take the step. But if you're just playing in the minors maybe another year of college woudn't be the worst thing. Still the money's good and having no money in college isn't that fun.
-
But our game is to be aggressive and as long as the contact is within the rules we should do it. There are only 3 guys on the ice that are being paid. I think we should expect that they do their jobs correctly.
-
I have to agree with everything you said, but the fact is that the play developed without a scoring chance to BC. So how do you fault the guy. I don't know that you ask the guys to stop being physical when you're in a tied game. You do tell them to keep your sticks and elbows down, which he did.
-
Yes we were outplayed, but the score was tied until this bad penalty changed the game.
-
Agreed. IMO and a lot probably agree we were lucky to be tied that late in the game.
-
I agree, but the fact is that face offs were decided by the players. In this case the BC player had greater skill and really helped his team out. That's what's supposed to decide a game isn't it, the players, not a bum call by the referee?
-
At that point the score was tied so anything could have happened.
-
There were only 3 seconds left of that penalty when play stopped for Finley's. Oshie scored with 30 some seconds left.
