  1. I would like to see dominating offensive and defensive lines, some long down the field completitions, a couple of interceptions and super solid special teams - this of course lends itself to a lopsided score. There fixed it.
  2. I'm talking about the ones that come with an agenda - it usually consists of: No knowledge of UND sports history Myopic knowledge of "how great" ndsu is and always has been Chest puffing of how great ndsu is Need to puff up ndsu and constantly try and compare the two institutions with ndsu coming out on top Need to diss UND Not really here to discuss sports, more here to make their lame comparisions of how great ndsu is I think there can be plenty of enjoyable discussions and disagreements among Sioux fans and an occasional opponent poster dropping in, but what we have is ndsu vultures starting threads, dropping ndsu into every discussion, dissing hockey and it gets a little tiresome.
  3. I have several UND friends who are saying they are going to stop reading Siouxsports because it has been taken over by ndsu geeks who have nothing better to do than continue to compare themselves to a school that they no longer claim they want to be associated with. How can we take back this site? I think the Moderators have to do something - JohnBoy and others please moooove on, you are not welcome here, we don't care what you think, we certainly don't care to hear anything about the bi-sons. Your presence here continues to prove the only way ndsu fans measure themselves is by comparing themselves to UND. We have moved on to a different conference, we have a top level division 1 sport that you don't care about. Am I alone in my thoughts here or are there others that agree we need to take back this site and keep it focused on UND?
  4. Upside to St. Cloud State: Nice road trip distance Rowdy atmosphere - it's the only sport students care about A small but friendly booster club - SCSU and UND have had some enjoyable pre-game socials Their history of being anti Sioux nickname left when President Santiago retired Downside to St. Cloud State: They will always be a second tier school They will always be fighting for money to keep nice facilitites (and lose to UofM) They are not a destination school for students, they are a "settle for" school I would not doubt that dropping football is on their double secret agenda like Omaha. They have already dropped homecoming a football event, they were ready to drop football last year until student funding came through.
  5. Yes but you don't hear Sioux fans shouting Anti-Bison chants at Sioux-Gopher Hockey games and you don't have any Sioux fans going onto Bisonswill pounding their chests and ruining every thread discussion. Nope not rooting for the Bison or the Gophers - I am Switzerland on this one.
  6. Last I checked this is not a Smack Site - but I know where you can find one - please go there.

I am assuming it goes without saying that the title of this thread does not speak for all participants in this site, nor does it in all probablity speak for a majority of Sioux football fans. As with most threads it is best taken as an opportunity to discuss topics.
  8. Everytime a bisonswill fan posts on Siouxsports it screams of their inferiority complex. Please go post on your new rivals site I'm sure the Jackrabbits would love to hear from you. UND has moved in a different direction - what part of that don't you understand - we are in a different conference, we have different values, we have a top tier Division I sport that you can't relate to. Please mooooove on!
  9. Don't feed the trolls - Use the "Ignore" option on all known su posters - it's pretty easy to pick them out.

First of all I think there's a place called Bisonswille for you su fans to post - there are at least a half dozen threads about UND on that site you can go post on - they've even got a special smak thread for the really poisonous and idiotic. I really can't figure out why you spend time on a site for a school that you are no longer a rival of - your inferiority complex screams everytime you post here - grow up and move on. Second - do we really want to be one of "those schools" where the fans think they can run the decision making? Let's let everyone do their job, the administration, the coaches, the players and let's just be fans through thick and think. It's just ridiculous to start rants about firing coaches. Second guessing, arm chair quarterbacking is what fans do and that is fine, but good god what value do threads with "Fire _____ " bring to the discussion? It doesn't make the school look good, it doesn't help the players morale and it certainly has little impact on the decision making - no matter what you think. Yes it was a very tough loss, we are still in transition - guess what - whether we go 11-0 or 3-8 the result at the end of the season will still be the same - one year closer to full DI status and one year more experienced. Going 10-0 or 9-1 would be fun but it has no impact on your future progress you can still go 3-8 when it really counts - that's been proven. It's also been proven that when fans and fans board posting start ranting for coaches to be fired it does nothing for the good of the school. We all have high expectations for all UND teams based on history I'm guessing the administration, coaches and players do too. Let them take care of it. It's a game, it's for fun, they are student athletes, the coaches are dedicated and hard working. Be a fan - but not "that kind of fan".
  11. Thanks for your interest in Sioux sports.
  12. Does anyone else get a stomach ache having to read paragraph after paragraph about ndsu on a Fighting Sioux fan board. Please, we really aren't interested in details, history, chest puffing about your team, we have moved on. We are also tired of the many predictions of doom su zealots love to share - NCAA death penalty, getting kicked out of the Big Sky, etc. This is a UND FIghting Sioux Fan Board and this thread was not intended to give a platform for trying to convince us how much better/smarter/larger/younameit ndsu is than UND.
  13. Attended in the late 70s, seldom missed a hockey, basketball or football game. Stood in line for Wisconin hockey at -30, sang along to "Old Mcdonald had a farm" at SU games, watched badgers, gophers even a live chicken get thrown on the ice, saw a rubber chicken on a pole hung over the Denver goalies head, those were the days.
  14. Good gravy we are still in transition, don't you have your own site to post your swill on? Team that won the most games in the last decade they played: UND Team that won the last game played between the two teams: UND Team with the overall winning record in the now defunct rivalty: UND Team that left the conference, thus ending the rivaltry: NDSU Team that had more scholarships and wanted to continue the rivalry: NDSU Team that could have missed the playoffs if it would have continued the rivalry: UND Team that has hosted the most playoff games in the past 20 years: UND Please MOOOOOVE on.
  15. This calls for a state-wide vote on the issue. (not entirely serious). What does it take to have a state-wide initiative?
  16. 4 hour drive 1 great seat at the 50 yard line Priceless I'm ready to tailgate!
  17. Does this make anyone else's stomach turn - I hope The Ralph takes a stand on this B as in B, S as in S.
  18. This week's Sports Illustrates rates as #1 pre-game ceremony the Florida State Seminole pre-game ceremony of a student dressed as a native american riding a horse to the center of the football field and throwing a flaming spear into the ground. Any thoughts?
  19. The problem is the anti-nickname group has never been primarily native americans it's been the liberal leftys and they will never go away -they have learned the minority can outlast the majority. I can't imagine how ugly it would get at the mere suggestion of using Spirit lake Sioux. Even with the support of the Spirit Lake Sioux you would have the same group getting the media attention and I think we've seen that tribal governments can change their minds so a few years down the road with a different council we could be looking at the same issue all over again. My belief might be obvious by my postings and moniker but I see no reason why the spirt and history of the Fighting Sioux can't live on - at least for historical purposes. I do believe that once a new nickname is chosen the upcoming generations of students will move away from the Fighting Sioux but who knows perhaps there always will be a group of students on campus that pick up the baton and preserve the spirit.
  20. It will at least be hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue because once the name is established everyone will need to buy new stuff. Goon posted the NCAA statement about a replacement name in his blog and it appears a little vague. I would guess they are negotiating with the NCAA (oxymoron I know), to have some time for "healing" otherwise any name that comes too soon will be trashed. The reality is a name is needed for revenue purposes you can't copywrite or register "North Dakota".
  21. I was in Devils Lakes for the Fort Totten Days activities and my Sioux Pride shirts were very well received. Many who stopped at the booth said they voted for the nickname others said that the use of the name did not bother them - which to me is like a yes vote. I have also sold Sioux Pride shirts to native americans from more than a dozen states.
  22. While I was in the camp of no nickname, just use North Dakota, there are problems with that. For one thing you can't register the name so you would have no control or exclusivity to it - except of course a new cool logo. Also it appears that NCAA will not allow the no nickname because they must have realized that no new nickname = Fighting Sioux by default. Just like the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Minneapolis Lakers there is no reason why the Fighting Sioux name can't continue to be worn and preserved, but of course NCAA took care of scrubbing the logo from sight for good because they also said UND could not sell the rights to the logo to any other entity ... I am hoping The RALPH can get some kind of historic preservation deal going perhaps through the state so the logo can remain a permanent part of the community. I did read that some on the UND Logo committee feel just the opposite they want the logo gone forever, so we can "move on".
  23. Counting the days, taking off early from work on Thursday - will there be tailgating as usual - what time does it start?
  24. I'm taking the Sioux Pride Van to Devils Lake for Fort Totten Days and got permission from the Cenex Store on Highway 2 to set up the van and sell Sioux Pride shirts. If you're in the area stop in, I'm guessing I won't have to deal with picket signs or anyone telling me my shirts are hostile and abusive, in fact last time I attended a Pow Wow and had a booth I did quite well. 25. There is a "can't" it has been reported that the NCAA has said as part of the agreement that UND must replace the nickname and that they can't sell the logo or the nickname to another entity. Thus the Ralph can't buy it and UND can't just go with North Dakota. I'd be happy if this was an urban legend but it makes sense.
