  1. Apparently Kotelnicki is a finalist for the UMary head coaching job.
  2. I believe this would be the first time a UND player has transferred to an FBS school since Rob Bodine went to Clemson back in the 80's.
  3. Idalski was a Buning hire.
  4. I checked out the SIU board, and only found one post mentioning that Bubba had applied here, and none saying that DeBoer had. But if you want to read page after page about how Lennon should be fired, you'll be in luck.
  5. Chappell won the 100, 200 and both hurdles at state in 2005. It was the last state meet in Grand Forks and one of the best performances I've ever witnessed.
  6. I would have a hard time counting DeBoer out in a hypothetical two-horse race. First, he comes across as somebody who would be very polished in an interview. Second, Faison was in attendance when DeBoer got his signature win as a head coach. Plus, Faison allegedly asked him to apply. I'm not anti-Bubba by any means, but objectively speaking I could easily see Faison choosing DeBoer.
  7. I agree that you can't keep switching back and forth. But I'm not sure transferring is necessarily the answer for whomever doesn't win the job this spring and next fall. The Belmore/Reed Manke years showed how things can drastically change.
  8. Take this for what it's worth, but in the "comments" section of the most recent SFI blog entry, they are saying they believe it will come down to Bubba and DeBoer. And Caruso was apparently never contacted. I can only assume it was due to his lack of division I experience.
  9. Missed that. Sorry.
  10. One player who often gets overlooked due to the fact that he played on some very bad UND teams in the mid-80's is Tracy Martin. He was a very big receiver for the time (6'3", 200), had great speed and was drafted in the 6th round in 1987 by the Jets.
  11. Here is what I would like to know--if asked, does Kelley have the authority to waive certain normal UND hiring requirements, so long as state law isn't violated?
  12. I believe that is his wedding day.
  13. If true, this is puzzling. All it would have taken is a simple phone call to Tibesar or his agent or whomever to gauge whether there was any interest whatsoever. If the answer was "no", move on. That call should have been made before the job was even posted, which makes the inclusion of the "strong NFL preference" language strange--unless some other person who hasn't technically applied yet and who fits this description ends up getting the job.
  14. NDSU will announce Klieman as Bohl's successor at an 11 AM press conference per multiple sources.
  15. If I remember correctly, after Glas left the committee consisted of Buning, the senior women's administrator (assistant a.d.) and Roebuck.

    2013 Playoffs

Montana may have been fortunate. NDSU is destroying Coastal Carolina right now 31-0 in the first half.
  17. As you know, football is unique due to the typical timing of a job opening coinciding with key recruiting season. Regardless, I can't think of a good reason a school would hamstring itself compared to its peers.
  18. Maybe this will be the impetus behind getting it changed. One can only hope. It just shouldn't take 30-plus days to hire a coach.
  19. I can't help but wonder exactly why this policy hasn't been changed already, at least in terms of the athletic department? If virtually no other school/state is doing it this way, shouldn't that be a clue that maybe this isn't the best way to do things?
  20. Would the new coach almost have to retain several of Muss's assistants just for recruiting purposes? Or would any coach aside from Freund and Meyers have to go through the infamous "process" again?
  21. In retrospect, I now have a better appreciation of why there couldn't have been a national search after Lennon left. Even if UND had actually had an a.d. at the time, can you imagine this ridiculous process starting in late December?
  22. Tom Miller article on the hiring process: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/280273/group/Sports/
