  1. Living in Colorado, I don't think of the Minnesota Vikings that much. Your moniker, however, would fit right in here. Lol
  2. No knock here, but that's what I thought too. Portland State Vikings in the Big Sky Conference. Why wouldn't we think that?
  3. He is. Because he's a graduate. And on the committee. But, even at that, the "no nickname" is doomed.
  4. It's also not as if we didn't know that his vote carried the no nickname...barely...to the final 7. It won't go beyond that. Too many committee members know that is a fools errand.
  5. Can I borrow somebody's decoder ring?
  6. Will no nickname do no harm? The casual fan says no nickname. They have no stake in the university. They only care about the old name of its sports team not going away. The integrity of the university has no meaning to them. The stakeholder, one who truly has an interest in the university, is not willing to take that chance. Kelley will change the name. No nickname is not an option.
  7. Yup. Kick down that sandcastle. Thank you for proving my point.
  8. I'd like to see Sundogs vanish.
  9. Absolutely. Repeating facts makes me mad and then I'd prefer to kick down the sandcastle and storm out of the sandbox. Then I hope none of the kids can play!!! Whaaaaaa!!! Or.. as I call it...the no nickname vote.
  10. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt... lol
  11. So, we haven't heard your support for xxxx inside or outside of this forum. And your big gripe is that someone supports Roughriders and your sick of hearing about it. But, you haven't heard anyone support Roughriders. ..but you're sick of the support you are hearing.
  12. So, as a casual fan, what you are admitting is that you don't have the univerity's best interest at heart. You would prefer that more harm comes to the university and that vindictiveness is at the core of your desires.
  13. I think you're right. Fall semester is peak enrollment. Students need their say also.
  14. 108 votes on this board for Roughriders. By far the most gathered by any of the seven choices. Its the leading choice of the committee. My guess is that you haven't really talked to anybody.
  15. When Teddy Roosevelt liked something, he said, "Bully!" The university exists as a learning institution. It is there to produce graduates, not sports teams. Sports is a marketing device. In the last number of years, the Fighting Sioux nickname, as much we love it, has been a marketing disaster. They, the university, that is run by an administrative body well above the athletic department, has decided to change the name. It's not by accident that no nickname barely made the final seven. It is not under serious consideration. It's not by accident that Roughriders finished first. Followed closely by Sundogs. What are we, the alumni who are the product of the university and major stakeholders going to do? Most of us won't support no nickname. We know that hurts marketing in many ways. (Unique? No. Weird and vindictive? Yes.) We will support the most marketable name. Roughriders. Because it is in the best interest of the university. Bully!
  16. Never said I was. I am, however, being very pragmatic.
  17. I will probably get more of a say if there is a vote than a casual fan, season ticket holder or not. Because I am a graduate and think well beyond the implications of this nickname outside of the playing field, rink, court, etc. That's the way it will probably work. And like a good Roughrider, I'll stay on my high horse. Unless I go up San Juan Hill...
  18. Bubba works there. I agree. He's not a casual fan. He has the best interests of the entire university to consider.
  19. You actually were done a long time ago when you admitted that you failed to attend the flagship school of the state. You will probably have no say. Roll Ridas!
  20. Maybe you are a casual fan. That's nice. I'm a graduate and a true stakeholder. Along with most of the 108 that want Roughriders for a nickname. Because it's the best choice for the university where we earned our diplomas. Because it has ties to the state we are from. If there is a vote, I will probably have one. You probably won't.
  21. I see. A self loathing North Dakotan that didn't have the common sense to go to the flagship school, but likes to troll UND websites. Thanks for clearing that up. Btw, as of today, 108 members of this site, the vast majority of them having real ties to the University of North Dakota, favor the Roughrider name. At UND, we're taught that 108 > 4. Too bad you missed out on that education.
  22. And I am sorry that your agenda includes insulting North Dakotans and their history, which includes ties to Theodore Roosevelt and the Roughriders. Maybe you should go join the criminal felons in the land of LAKES. Non-North Dakotans need not be involved in the choosing of their school's nickname.
  23. Yeah, absolutely. Why, that would never get abused, would it? http://www.buzzfeed.com/briangalindo/could-you-pass-the-literacy-test-given-to-black-voters-in-th#.psoo6B4DPg
