I have to agree with Bison06. NDSU has done a good job in transition. Hopefully, UND's transition will go as well. In the meantime, if you want to look at an athletic program in shambles, IMHO it's the University of Northern Colorado. They never had the facilities or the support for the transition. Both NDSU and UND have the facilities AND the support. Granted, the Bears made the move into the Big Sky Conference, which is the only positive move they have done. Everything else has been a disaster.

Or better yet, call them the University of North Dakota Fighting Bison.

In 2003, I was walking along a beach in a tiny, off the beaten path town in Jalisco, Mexico when I saw a dude coming toward me with the dreaded NDSU Bison t-shirt on... I was wearing my UND Fighting Sioux t-shirt. Classic exchange. He grinned and said quietly pointing at my t-shirt, "Sioux suck, they always have and they always will." I grinned and said quietly back to him, "Buck the Fison." We both laughed and kept going our separate ways.

It was a good year. I enjoyed being at the game that sent the Sioux to the Frozen Four. Overtime win against Minnesota...sweet! Note, I said a good year. I have no complaints, but the high expectations of this program mean that a great year ends with a national championship, IMHO. Let's hope the team holds together and can produce a great yet in 2007-2008.

I know this queston should probably be posted in the D-I thread, but why set a core group as the new D-I North Central Conference? North Dakota/NDSU/South Dakota/South Dakota State?? Just a thought.

Not to take anything away from Hill, but it sounds like the German fighter did a great job preparing for this fight. I thought Hill made some very classy comments. However, maybe it's time for both of them to retire.

Oddly enough, I wonder if the Sioux are feeling that they need to uphold the honor of the WCHA this year? What do you folks think?

I was ten rows up from the Gopher goalie. He never had a chance. bwahaahahahaBWAAHAHAHAHA!!!! Anyhoo, it was fun. I sat in a sea of Gopher fans who were actually pretty nice and just rooted for their team without being A holes. Afterwards, several shook my hand and said they would be cheering the Sioux in the Frozen Four. However, what the H was up with the cameraman/director of the video screen at the final? Constant showing of some stupid sign that said, "Sioux is a girls name" and then, once, a sign that said, "Golden Chokers". This was done AFTER they made the announcement about sportmanship is expected of the fans at an NC$$ event??? Bizarro...

This Chief Illiniwek dude is just a white guy dressed up in a costume doing crazy stuff on the field. He's a mascot. Absolutely the polar opposite of what happens at UND. We don't use a mascot. Thank God they got rid of Sammy Sioux. That was ridiculous. Sorry, but I don't blame the U of Illinois for putting this out of its misery. Let's focus on keeping the Fighting Sioux nickname. Florida State and Illinois can go fly a kite.

Myself, I hope that the Beavers score less goals than the Sioux. I think that would be even better.
