  1. Bob Iwabutchi. Not the best, but easily my favorite.
  2. Whoops. Didn't see that thread. Oh well, this man deserves TWO threads!
  3. Living close to Greeley, trust me on this. We don't want him. UNC's Athletic Department is a joke. The only good thing that has happened there is their affiliation with the Big Sky Conference. The only reason it happened is because of the ease of travel through Denver.
  4. This is a true North Dakota hero! This man died in 1982. He earned the Medal of Honor for service in Korea, however he also served our country in WWII. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 4324 - Wahpeton. His family will accept the honor. Here is the Wikipedia article about this outstanding man. Woodrow W. Keeble War veterans amaze me. What they have done to sacrifice themselves for the good of the world will always keep us in debt to them.
  5. I don't know if anyone reported this on the board, but Miami lost to Ferris St 3-1 tonight... #2 Sioux!
  6. Well, I won't make THAT much of a sacrifice. I'll just go away for awhile IF they ever get three goals behind again. Hopefully, that won't happen for a year or two.
  7. Thanks for the YouTube highlights! I'm not near a TV and it's great to see these goals!
  8. WTH??? I came back after they were down 4-1... Figured I'd check out the final. WOW!!! Well, I guess "I" shouldn't be such a frickin' quitter!
  9. Yeah, Hak deserved the two day suspension. No rose colored glasses here. However, he should have went for it, jumped on the ice and delivered the beating that zebra deserved!
  10. I was there in person three rows up from the net. Yup...we made a lot of noise. I had a great time. I sat in the middle of a bunch of Gopher fans. I dreaded it, then found them to be quite fun to chat with and very gracious on the outcome of the game.
  11. I was busy playing cards with a friend and had the game as background noise from the internet feed. When I heard the winning goal, I didn't catch who scored. However, I heard the big cheer. I thought, "DAMN!!!". Then, I heard that Trupp scored. I went from being peed off to happy in about one second.
  12. Team spirit? Creepies, Mudhead, where's your school spirit? MUDHEAD: In the rumble seat. Want a snort? C'mon folks, lighten up!
  13. Fred Gwynn is a UND Alum!!! Cool!!!

    new coach?

If the focus is to find someone to beat the Bison, here's your man: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rocky_Hager Rocky is an expert in helping the Bison get defeated! Bring him on!!

    new coach?

Whoever the new coach is, he better schedule Southern Illinois ASAP. Like I said in another thread, good luck to Coach Lennon. However, let's take a shot or two at him while we can!

    Lennon gone

Here's the take on Lennon from the Saluki message board. http://www.salukitalk.net/st/viewtopic.php...557&start=0 Well, time to reload. Too bad. I was hoping that Lennon would stay due to his roots. However, it IS a move up, no matter what spin you give it. I say good luck to him. I'm sure he'll be a success there. I'm also sure that UND will find a suitable replacement to take on D-II or Championship Subdivision or whatever the he// they want to call it!
  17. I didn't know where else to post this, but I was thinking if we sent this link to Myles, maybe he'd let us off the hook. Just tell him that we've changed our nickname to the Bison! Problem solved! Wincraft North Dakota Sioux Multi Sport Bike Helmet
  18. That's a good point, CI. I don't believe Fla State had to have approval of two tribes. Did Utah have to have the support of two tribes? Does this have to do with the idea that there are two official Sioux tribes in the state of North Dakota, while Utah only has one Ute tribe and Florida only has one Seminole tribe in the state? No research done here, just throwing this out there...
  19. I don't agree with this course of action. Yeah, I'm pissed that it appears that the nickname is gone. Yeah, I doubt that the tribal leadership is going to back the current nickname. But, this smacks of revenge and will only justify the position of the tribal leaders that oppose the nickname. You would just add fuel to the already raging fire. I agree with the pragmatist's approach. Send athletes/coaches/students to the reservations in an effort to interact with them and show them what UND is all about. Even if it doesn't work, the goodwill it generates will, in the long run, do a hell of a lot more good than a slap in the face.
  20. The fact is the large Native Studies progams at the University of North Dakota wouldn't have grown to what they are without the use of the Fighting Sioux nickname. Face it. They grew out of pressure from the use of the nickname. That was a good thing for the tribal leadership. Now, they're going to blow it. Now, UND is going to be forced to change the nickname. They're won't be any agreement with any of the tribes that the NCAA is going to see as good enough to keep the nickname. Even if there is, the tribe that sets up the agreement could pull the rug out at any time. With the instability of the tribal leadership, they would eventually pull the rug to make some odd political point. So, UND will change it's nickname after making some attempts at an agreement. The tribes will no longer have that cloud hanging over UND that allows to increasing funding to their pet programs. It's a lose/lose situation. In the meantime, I'm going to buy enough Fighting Sioux merchandise with the coolest logo in all of college sports to last me for a long time. In five, ten, twenty years, when it's the UND Storm, or Calvary, or Fighting Chipmunks, or whatever, I'll go to the games and cheer them while wearing the good ol' hostile and abusive logo.
  21. I was checking the USCHO poll to see where Mich Tech was, (#14) and then counted the WCHA schools in the top 20. Eight schools in the top 20 from the WCHA. St. Cloud State with 44 points isn't in the top 20. Minn-Mankato didn't get any points. Team (First Place Votes) Record Points Last Poll 1 North Dakota (42) 2-0-1 991 1 4 Colorado College 2-0-0 777 10 6 Denver 3-1-0 723 5 10 Minnesota 2-2-0 577 3 11 Wisconsin 3-1-0 515 13 14 Michigan Tech 3-1-0 242 NR 17 Minnesota-Duluth 3-0-1 190 NR 20 Alaska-Anchorage 3-0-1 106 NR Just pointing out the obvious. Toughest college hockey conference in the US of A!!
  22. Excellent point. (also, a good article from the strib..) For the most part, North Dakotans rallied behind the Bison before this victory over the Gophers. I think the best thing about this win was the 30,000 folks cheering the Bison at the Metrodome. It makes my heart glow. But, it glows Kelly green and white...with a bit of pink thrown in...
  23. Bohl is outta there after this year. Where to? Nebraska would be smart to give him the shot, but that probably won't happen. It's too big of a jump. I say Colorado State University. It's time for Sonny Lubick to retire. NDSU *is* a pipeline for coaches going to CSU. Good run at NDSU, Coach Bohl. Good run!
  24. Bison 27 Rodents 21.... Cool. I was cheering NDSU. Even though I no longer live in Nodak, I hate those dammmm rodents and their put downs of my home state. It's kinda like in Animal House, when the two frat boys say, "They can't do that to our pledges. Only WE can do that to our pledges!" Well, NDSU got revenge. Now, the Sioux will do the same in hockey.
  25. NAME GP MP GA SV W L OT SO GAA SV % 1 DAYN BELFOUR 10 603 33 303 6 3 1 0 3.28 .902 Not a bad start this year...
