Maybe those trying to temper expectations for Shanks know something about his game and that is why they are trying to lower expectations for him. When people were talking about Tyler stepping in as a starting guard for you this year and taking over for Anderson or Webb, I tried to temper those expectations after watching him compete against NDSU for 2 years. He is not anywhere close to those 2 and never will be. Chances are if Shanks had any offensive skills at 7 feet, he would have been playing right away at Utah State.

I know people on this site like to pump up Bubba's recruiting, but most if not all of the Minnesota commitments he has gotten so far he either beat out D2's for the kid or UND was his only offer. Not saying they won't be good players, but they weren't heavily recruited.
-
I think Richman is making around 200k. A D2 coach worth watching is Walthall at MSU-Moorhead. He may have a better team this year than any college team in ND regardless of division. I wish NDSU had given him a look when Saul left. He has D1 experience in the Big Ten and seems to be a great recruiter and player developer.

Of all the reasons Jones should be upset tonight, and he seems most upset about a kid throwing up a twenty five footer with the shot clock expiring at the end of the game. That ought to to tell you something. I'm glad Richman said something back at him when they walked by each other after shaking the rest of the players and coaches hands. I just wish I could have heard what he said, but it wasn't friendly chit chat.

I wonder how tall Shanks actually is. They list Cashman at 6-10 (I thought his introduction said 6-11). He was standing next to Kading of NDSU nad they were exactly the same height, and they list him at 6-7. He probably has 50 pounds on Cashman, but they are the same height. Your big men need to put on some weight and muscle. They are extremely soft inside. I thought Trayvonn Wright was skinny for NDSU, but he look obese compared to Shields for UND.

If he was a good recruiter, he wouldn't be playing with 7 D-1 transfers. There is generally a reason players leave other D-1 programs. Either they aren't very good (Tyler for example) or they have baggage (DeRouren for example). You shouldn't be building a program around them.

3 are playing but only one looks ready and that is Miller. Wesenberg and Schowalter don't appear to be ready. When Dexter Werner is the first person off your bench, the cupboard is rather bare.
-
Not sure about AJ being able to go. Richman was just on the radio and said 3 of his starters were watching practice yesterday and his point guard was on the court limping. He said he wouldn't be surprised if at least 1 or 2 will be in street clothes tonight. For a team that only plays 7 maybe 8 players, that is not good. I will be surprised if NDSU is able to keep to a single digit loss.

Montana State must be really bad this year,. NDSU is up on them 70-46 with about 6 minutes left, and this NDSU team is not very good.
-
And Midcontinent is glad they can bring this weeks UND/Weber State game to all 6 fans that will be watching...

Watching some of Bubba's decisions lately I that must be blind trust.

Haven't seen for myself, but reading the comments about the quality of the Big Sky online network is very poor. You might as well not watch and save some frustration.
-
Maybe you owe it Hanson, a kid who has stuck with the program for several years and has put in his time. Maybe it would have been right to give him a chance to show what he can do.

You are right on. You must not think Studsrud is your future QB if you are trading his worst year (true fr year) for what should be his best year (5th yr senior) in a season where you are 3-5 with virtually no chance of advancing to the playoffs. I think the NDSU staff has been too quick to pull shirts from freshman recently to basically only play special teams. But even Klieman said a couple of weeks ago that there was no chance any more redshirts would be pulled this year. And he has a team that will be playing into December in meaningful games.

And ESPN Gameplan. Again, when is the last time ESPN has shown enough interest in UND football to put one of their home games on either of these networks?
-
It actually is on an ESPN network. How many UND games are on an ESPN network?

NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
nd1sufan replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
They have said they would like to make it a frequent stop. They love the atmosphere and fan enthusiasm. Who on this forum thought they would come back a second year in a row? They have been in Fargo more than 95% of FBS schools. More than 80% of BCS conference schools. 100% more than any Big Sky schools, whether they are FCS like now or FBS in the future like SV is guaranteeing. -

If it were up to fans opinions, UND would not be in the Big Sky, or any other conference for that matter. It is up to school presidents, who look at the landscape of college athletics and decide what is best for the sustainability of their conference, not what the fans think. Do you suppose the Missouri Valley would be happy if one of their basketball playing schools had ESPN College Gameday on their campuses? NDSU will never be in the Sun Belt. Maybe the MAC or MWC, but not the Sun Belt as it is today. -

I think an NDSU move to the Missouri Valley in all sports is more likely than either the Sun Belt or Big Sky. The Indiana State media have been saying all along that the MVC should add NDSU, and now they say there may be some movement among the conference schools that it may be a good idea. They are afraid that with the football success that NDSU is having that they are becoming more attractive to FBS conferences (like the MWC or MAC) and that the window may be closing to get them in the MVC. NDSU has powerful allies in the MVC, like both ISU's, and UNI. They just would probably have to find a private, non-football school to go with them, possibly ORU or Denver. . -
PSU is just a bad football team. I saw the last quarter or so and their QB was not very good. Also, the head coaches time management at the end of the game was horrible. He should have taken a time out before the UND punt and get the ball back with about 2 full minutes left instead of 1:20.

Is anybody still buying this idiot's claim of UND and the BSC's secret agreement to move to FBS. If this thread doesn't prove SV is delusional nothing will. There is NO cover up or hindering of an investigation. The Moorhead PD told people not to speculate until more was known about the cause of death. Please try to be rational. I know it's hard if not impossible for SV, but I can't believe he appears to have loyal followers on this site that seem to agree with him.

Only if EWU is one of the wins. You would have to have a big win against a top team to get in with 5 losses.
-
If you mean by gap closing it going from a 5-6 touchdown gap like last year to a 2-3 touchdown game next year, I agree. If you mean it will be a pick-em game in the next 2-3 years I think you are overly optimistic.
