  1. He ran a 4.50 40.

If that is an NFL scouts 40 time he is definitely faster than Mays and at least as fast as Humber. It does seem like you can usually add a tenth to the 40 times to the times reported by the colleges compared to the NFL scouts or combine times.

  2. That was Miller's comment in the GF Herald chat today. I had heard he was getting looks but that was the first I had heard at fullback. He is a bowling ball and has the speed and strength to play a few different spots, so not unrealistic.  Depending on how accurate the UND roster is, he is the same height as Humber and Mays out of NDSU, both who got shots at linebacker in the NFL. At worst, I think he'd be a dynamite special teams player with his speed, positioning and tackling. Oddly enough, he played special teams through his senior season so it isn't foreign to him.

Humber and Mays are both still in the NFL. I would say he has more of a Mays body and hitting ability but is not as fast or athletic as Humber. His ticket to the league would definitely be special teams. Is he fast enough to cover kicks in the NFL?

  3. SFI stated on twitter today something to the effect of 'leave it the NCAA to do something so stupid that it unites both halves of North Dakota.' And that was a nice thought. And it was true.

To say that UND got hosed, but then defend the interpretation of criteria that the NCAA used in picking WIU over them, is contradictory. Period. Definitely the language on here has been:

UND fans: look at who we beat, versus who they beat

NDSU fans: but, look at who WIU played

There is no room for debate on these facts.

WIU beat 3 playoff teams, UND beat one. Where is your case?

  4. OK then, given the FCS said UND was first out, why'd EIU make the cut?

I don't know. You may have a case over EIU, but everybody seems to be talking about a 6 win WIU team getting in as a travesty when it is not. If you aren't going to take strength of schedule and stength of conference into consideration, then you take a 9 win MEAC team or a 9 win Patriot Team over any 7 or 8 win team from another conference.

  5. So the "7 DI wins" standard is now proven to be fallacy.

Is this a first move by the FCS to move to a 32 team field? To do that you'd have to take some 6-5 schools. Precedent set.

How about a 9-2 NC A&T or an 8-3 North Carolina Central? Or a 9-2 San Diego or Jacksonville if it all about the number of wins. Have you ever seen an 18-12 major ACC school gat an at large bid over a 26-4 mid major? WIU over UND is the same thing. WIU plays in the toughest FCS conference in the country and was 5-3 in it. They deserve to be in. You may have a case over EIU, but not WIU. They put all 5 MVFC teams on the same side of the bracket because they knew that was the only way to avoid another all MVFC final. They don't want that to happen again.

  6. If that's the case I will be there next Saturday!

And your conference champs lost to the third place team in the big sky. Crazy world huh

And your favorite team managed 61 total yards against that same team with a healthy #1 QB. Crazy what happens when you face an actual defense huh?

  7. That's my concern-that the committee will look at it through that prism of which CONFERENCE deserves X number of teams.

I disagree with your flat statement that UND does not go 5-3 in the MVFC. It would depend on who we played in the conference. Iowa is undefeated in the Big Ten. Iowa did not have to play Michigan, Michigan St and OSU.

It really looks bad when your conference champ loses 55-10 to a third place team in the MVFC.

  8. This one sounds ideal! I would rather not have our path go through NDSU.

Why wouldn't you want your path to go through NDSU. You guys are playing the best football in the FCS right now.Personally, I believe Northern Arizona should get in before UND. Same conference record and quite frankly, their win over Stephen F. Austin is better than a win over Wyoming. UND played a weak schedule in a weak conference. UNA played more of the top teams in the conference. No way the BSC should get more teams in than the MVFC. UND does not go 5-3 in the MVFC this year.

  9. We lost by 14 to Wisconsin, which isn't too bad (last year they lost to 2 power teams by more than 30 points). Lets just hope maturity kicks in and the bugs of playing a "real" opponent gets out and we can compete against teams not in the Big 10. A lot of work to do, and heat is on Jones' seat but if we can get a big win (UNI) maybe this team can gain some confidence or its going to be a long season.

They were down by 25 late in the game until UW lost interest. It was not a 14 point game. Going into the season I thought perhaps UND's talent may be too much for NDSU to overcome when they play, but I'm not too worried after watching tonight. I would give UND 10 points for the home court, but Richman vs Jones in coaching may be worth 20 for NDSU, so I see about a 10 point NDSU win.

  10.

Mussman? Is that you? Stop trolling the forums! jk

Optimism comes from an uptick recruiting. Optimism comes from a 4-1 start. Optimism comes from the best defensive team we have had in years.

You do have a very good run defense, which would serve you well in the MVFC. However, UND is in the Big Sky, and against the top teams in the BSC, your lack of a pass defense is going to get you killed. UND has to stop making it a priority to build their team around stopping the Bison. This isn't the 80's and 90's anymore.

Being a run oriented offense in the BSC will help, but you need to build your defense on getting pressure on the QB and having safeties that can cover not just make the big hit.

  11. SDSU is better than us right now. I'd like to think we're closing the gap each week though.

I agree overall SDSU is better than UND right now. SDSU's offense is better than UND's but UND's defense is better than SDSU's (and that isn't even close). I do think that they may have gotten a little vanilla on offense after going up 28-0 in the 3rd quarter, plus they fumbled a couple of times. The margin could have easily been greater against SDSU than UND.

  12. Looks like Sarah Jacobsen is ending up at NDSU. Verballed yesterday.

Big congratulations to Sarah Jacobson @sarahj1221 on her commitment to North Dakota State University! Very proud of you!

Jacobsen isn't even the best point guard in the Fargo-Moorhead area. There is a sophomore guard at Moorhead High who is possibly already better. She has received a lot of interest from schools from all of the P5 conferences already. She will be a challenge to keep in the area.

  13. UND appeared to not make adjustments as the match went on, losing to St Louis 25-21, 18-25, 19-25, 12-25.

Winning on the road to decent teams is an achilles heal to this young team.

St. Louis is another team NDSU beat 3-1 on the road this year. Should be a good match in Oct between the Bison and UND. It sounds like UND plays much better at home.

  14. What is incredible is bisonville having six pages of speculation on UND joining the Slummit and MVFC because Douple and Viverito were spotted at Saturdays game.  Moron vile.

Could just as well be they were pleading with NDSU to stay instead of defecting to the Big Sky, but that would go against everything those bisonville morons stand for.

So conferences are fighting over NDSU now? I thought NDSU was a school no conference would want?

  15. I'm surprised at the "no big deal" attitude about the lack of opportunities for women at NDSU even though it's painfully obvious.

Every woman athlete at NDSU on scholarship (they are at the max in all sports) is getting a scholarship and FCOA. Can UND say that? Are they fully funding all sports?

  16. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-football/3840444-ndsu-ups-campus-security-und-ndsu-football-game

Seems like they are concerned about the wrong student body - last I checked it was their homecoming royalty that was vandalizing UND and their football players that was flashing children at the mall. and making the midnight dash out of Best Buy. Doing something to make a statue of a bi-zon look stupid would just be redundant.

Well, they may be stationing their extra security at the wrong location. With the possibility of some of the UND faculty coming to town, perhaps they should be posting the security at the day care center at the Family Life Center at NDSU. Those little kids may need extra protection.

  17. Or............NDSU offered COA because UND did it first with with our hockey teams.    See how that works.

And if UND hadn't built a $13 million indoor practice facility NDSU wouldn't have built one either - oh wait.  I guess UND does invest in things independent of NDSU.

There is no way UND got plans together in a few days.  Things were already in the works when NDSU announced.

And who the hell mentioned USD?

You are right that UND didn't get plans together in a few days. They still don't have any idea how they are going to pay for it, which sports are getting chopped, or If they are going to pay for all sports. Faison was pressured by all coaches to announce right away to lessen the effect on recruiting. There is ZERO chance UND would have announced FCOA if NDSU hadn't announced when they did.
