  1. That idea may not be so far fetched in the future ... http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/04/sports/hockey/derek-boogaard-a-boy-learns-to-brawl.html?_r=1
  2. Everybody run out and let your SUVs idle!
  3. I'm sure those little facts are mysteriously missing from the promotional materials the companies working the NoDak oil fields use when they recruit pilgrims from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, etc.

    Flood 2011

Looks like the F-M area may be getting a ditch. http://www.startribune.com/local/135003398.html
  5. We don't need the ACLU in this mess too. At least on the wrong side ...
  6. I think the powers that be in the new "super conference" were gambling too aggressively that ND would join too and give it some instant star appeal for a big media deal. Instead, we end up with a collection of hockey schools of various calibers and a decimated WCHA.
  7. Potter seems almost as incompetent as some of his predecessors.
  8. It would probably make more sense to build an economic infrastructure that makes the state less dependent on the inevitable fall in oil prices/revenue and enables the state to retain more of its young people over time. Most of the people coming into the state for oil-related jobs will probably not stay after the boom crests, or after they've made enough money to move on as the overall economy improves. And if you think property taxes are bad in NoDak move to Minnesota or Iowa.
  9. Agreed. If it makes anybody feel better the NC$$ is the subject of new litigation dealing with concussions in certain sports brought by a very good class action shop. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/30/sports/ncaafootball/college-players-move-concussions-issue-into-the-courtroom.html?hpw
  10. Probably when they sell out since they've already paid for the inventory.
  11. Not sure, but it seems like he has decent numbers so far. But I was initially excited by the post on the front page and thought we were going to get "Caligula" ...
  12. Fighting Arsonists ... Fighting Contributors to Global Warming ... If we can add a cigar to the flame, we could be the Fighting Stogies ...
  13. http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/Video-Jonathan-Toews-breaks-targets-across-ice-;_ylt=A2KLP2_NuM5ObSsALA17vLYF?urn=nhl-wp18066 Assorted Toews videos, including one hawking a new Bauer stick.
  14. And we have to have them for NCAA post-season play The way the season is going so far, don't hold your breath on that one ...

    Jerseys

Have you checked their website? I was on there a few days ago, and IIRC, they still had authentics in stock.
  16. His wandering, moralistic rants should be enough to get him a talk show. Or at least a blog ...
  17. Keep making "admissions" in a public forum ...
  18. As a practical matter, I doubt you've read the elements of "fair use" enumerated in Title 17, or have even perused Sony. The Napster and Grokster cases which followed Sony are more on point, and the various file sharing cases brought against individuals by the media companies are even more on point with respect to wholesale sharing of intellectual property. The copyright warning that pops up during telecasts of games is there for a reason. If you ignore it you can held liable for willful infringement, which allows for enhanced civil penalties and possible criminal prosecution under Section 503.
  19. Arguably, yes. If you look at the file-sharing sites like Napster and Pirate Bay, they were subject to civil action even though no money changed hands between the parties. Without delving into the DVD trades organized on this site, wholesale exchanges of copyrighted material are more likely to raise scrutiny from copyright holders than one-off trades between friends, etc. And yes, Title 17 of the US Code does have some serious criminal elements built into it. And why are you watching "Days"?
  20. The. Irony. Is. Priceless.
  21. It was only a matter of time ... http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-15/u-s-attorney-joins-penn-state-investigation.html
  22. Good grief, The guy's an ethical nightmare, even for a lawyer. I predict the famous "Chewbacca defense", with a dose of fist pounding, and perhaps claims of "racism" for good measure.
  23. As long as the check clears ... Sandusky's attorney is giving interviews in other media outlets, and making his client sound like a mildly retarded simpleton ("child like" is his term), rather than a predator.
  24. But I guess it's okay to just shower with them ... like the "jocks".
