  1. Maybe it did have some effect on HC.........but I don't think it any effect on the Gophers. But, whatever works for you is fine with me
  2. I for sure wouldn't have been one them..............
  3. You see the way they played they at the "X" the week before ?? So much for the "home" ice atmosphere I would say........
  4. No offense.....but no it didn't. Going into that week-end, the Gophers hadn't played a decent game of hockey in the last month. I don't think there were a whole lot of Gopher fans who truely thought that they would get through the regional. It was just a case of team that was playing bad at the time, playing even worse that game.
  5. But then, wouldn't it have been NDSU that actually beat the Gophers ? UND had NOTHING to do with the Holy Cross game.........
  6. #1 - I am not Mr. Noterman, nor do I know him. #2 - I don't have any sons, much less 1 that played for UND, or UM for that matter. #3 - I am a tried & true Gopher fan first and foremost. I do have some past connections to UND, and have always considered them my 2nd favorite hockey team. Not sure why that would be a problem.
  7. Not my deal either.......... Not that there is anything wrong with it.............
  8. Thank you sir, thats all I was pointing out. It has been a VERY nice season so far, BUT, we are very much aware that the Gophers are in almost the exact same position the Badgers were in last year at this time, and although things worked out for them at the end, they played a stretch of terrible hockey in January & February. And the type of injuries the caused the Badger swoon, can happan to anyone at any time. And every team, every year, always has a stretch when, for what ever reason, they just don't play well. For the Sioux, that is happening right now, for the Gophers, that time is still to come, and it WILL come. The big question is how the team responds when it does happen, and how long it goes on for. The last few years, that strecth has hit the Gophers at the end of the season going into the play-offs. Hopefully, this year, it will be a little sooner, and they will playing decent hockey again in March and (hopefully) April. We also painfully aware that once the play-offs start, what you have accomplished during the regular means nothing. Everyone gets to start fresh. Looking forward to the series in January, because Gopher/Sioux games are always a lot of fun to watch.
  9. Was there an answer to my question in there ??
  10. Could you tell us where ONE single poster has posted that kind of a message please ? I have not seen any such claim here, on GPL, or anywhere else.
  11. Not sure you can completely blame the goaltender, when ALL of the boys in front of him managed only 1 goal in 60 minutes
  12. Wait for it.............. Especially if this week-end doesn't go well
  13. When Woog "retired", the administration had only 2 people in mind for the job. Blais & Lucia. As soon as Blais heard about the openning, HE contacted UM and told them he would not be interested in switching jobs at that time. This was partially due to a rather large annuity set up for him by UND, that was payable only if he stayed on at UND till the end of his contract. The U then went after Lucia hard, and signed him within 5 days.
  14. MMMMMM..................... QUOTE(luapsided @ Dec 11 2006, 05:23 PM) See what being a goofer does to a guy! Quite a different response from your post on Monday............. Is this your idea of a "do over" ?
  15. The norm for most income freshmen is that they spend the first part of season watching players skate past them when they try to defend them, and get pasted when they have puck, as they try to aclimate themselves to players that are bigger and faster than they have ever played with before. Having the type of a season that Okposo is having (so far) is the exception to the rule. What you DO look for in freshmen, is progress every game, as they work to adjust their play to the WCHA game. Some take longer than others.............some don't get it till their second season, some never do get it. But to write off the entire Sioux frshmen class at this point in the season seems a little rediculous. Besides, you know what ND's record was last year 12 games into the WCHA season ? 6 wins, 6 losses. Sound familiar ?? Not saying that they ARE going to turn everything around the second half this year too..............but it seems a little premature to write them off as well.
  16. http://www.bostonbruins.com/pressbox/press...ses.asp?id=1872 Unconfirmed rumors out of Boston are saying testicular cancer............
  17. NO other program has a goaltending coach like Bill Howard. He is the reason that Wisconsin has some of the best goaltending in college hockey every year. They recruit athletic kids, and then turn them over to Howard for 2 years. He essentially tears their game apart and starts fresh with them, which I why you rarely see a freshman or sophmore goalie starting for them. But when their turn does come, they are GOOD. Did you ever notice that every one of their goalies looks almost exactly the same as the guy before him ?? Remember, going into last season, everyone thought that goaltending was going to be Badgers biggest concern, because this Elliot kid that nobody had ever heard of, was taking over for Bruckler.........and now they have Connelly on deck for next year, and cycle just keeps on going.
  18. USA and Canada are both in Group A. http://www.worldjuniors2007.com/index_eng.htm
  19. Old REA ? Wasn't it call the Winter Sports Arena ?? or is my age showing ?
  20. I think he could play next year, and be a decent player, but I think a year in the juniors, and adjusting to the speed of THAT game, would be invaluable to him before jumping to WCHA play.
  21. Good pick up for the Sioux. Have been able to see him play several times over the last 2 seasons, and he is a very solid player. Very good size, and not afraid to use it, has great vision on the ice, moves the puck to his forwards really well, and rarely turns it over. He's not very fast or flashy on his skates, but really takes care of business, especially in his own end. Would expect that he will play juniors next year..........
  22. Every team has a terrible time going up to Alaska. I think the time difference effects all teams more than they would care to admit. I wouldn't read as much into this past week-end as everyone seems to be doing........except maybe the goaltending.
