  1. I agree with you on this one, never really did understand that, though I am sure it was done for FSN. But you say that it's not true anymore ?? Where did you see that ?
  2. Last year was the ONLY year that posters were handed out..........and PCM covered all of your other ridiculous points quite nicely.
  3. 1996..........West Region Final, near the end of the 2nd period. Michigan was behind by a goal at the time, despite being a clearly better team, and outplaying the Goph's. Went on to win by 2 I believe. And you are correct, they went on to beat Colorado College for the title in the Frozen Four (though it wasn't call the Frozen Four at the time).
  4. I agree...let the punishment fit the crime. First off.....there was NO minor consumption by TJ or JT, or at leaset they were not cited for it, unless the news was not reported factually. Bina is a bit of different deal, but to what extent. we don't know. But yes, this is A LOT different then the whole Blarney's deal. There were NO law enforement agencies involved with the Blarney thing AT ALL. No one was given a citataion of any nature. Doesn't mean that those people weren't stupid for being in that position, but LEGALLY nothing happened. And BTW.......there WERE consequences for those who were involved. They were not made public knowledge, and that's how it should be.
  5. You know that for a FACT ?? Like he said (as did Hakstol), it was handle internally.......and it was !! I know that for a FACT. That being said..........Bina looks like the only who really on hook on here. TJ & Jt were not cited for consumption, just for being there..........hardly an earth shattering event. But, depending on what Bina did or didn't do (and none of know), that could be a much more serious issue.
  6. I agree. After seeing the Blues last night, and watching Oshie & EJ this season, hard to believe that they wouldn't get a lot of playing in St. Louis next year.
  7. He's played forward since we turned the calendar. Also played he position some in high school.
  8. Maybe the names aren't the problem "Johnson" can be a tough one
  9. That was the pre-season coaches poll.
  10. Lost 2-1 to Sconnie, 1-0 to Denver..............by those scores, it should pretty obvious why they lost.
  11. He just wanted to be assured that he would spend the majority of the year the NHL (thus earning his $850,00/year) instead of in minors (making $85,000/year). Chicago would not give him that assurance. So, yes, essentially he wanted a one way contract.......which can longer be offered to rookies drafted last year or coming years under the terms of the new CBA. If he had been drafted earlier (I know he was not elegible), the same terms would not apply. The player union negotiated in some "grandfathering" of of the terms of the old CBA (for one year) for players who drafted while it was still in effect. So it made sense for people like Potulney/Stafford to leave when they did and take advantage of the money that was available to them last spring/summer, that would not have been available to coming spring.
  12. Yep. The Blackhawks wanted him to spend time in the minors, he had no interest in that, so no contract was offered.
  13. Because he was never offered a contract. And, yes I am sure.
  14. No such thing as "one way" contracts in the NHL for rookies under the new CBA.
  15. Spending a lot of time & energy killing penalties could be DISASTROUS for my boys this week-end. Against MSU, when they were short on players as well, they played a COMPLETELY type of game. They almost looked like Wisconsin..........no forechecking, a lot of dumping into the zone, etc. Not too sure they would be able to get away with that this series.
  16. The thing that scares me most is the shotage of players for the Gophers, especially on Friday. They only have 10 forwards available to suit up. They are going to move Schack up to give them 11 warm bodies, but that means they will playing with only 3 lines, and rotate Schack and someone else in here and there to give players a break. Not an ideal situation for what looks to be a fairly up and down game. And the situation will get even worse if somone gets injured. Hopefully the arena will be jumping all week-end.......looking forward to it !!!
  17. The guy is a pretty decent hockey player......but a bit of waste of human flesh !! He may be the biggest hack in the WCHA.
  18. There is no doubt that Gordon gave it a little extra. Probably had a lot to do wiht Fisher's barking the night before, but still, it was really uncalled for. Not really sure why Gordon got a game DQ though, all he did was lay on his back, and take a beating, never even removed his gloves, or attempted to throw a punch. But that is the way of officiating in the WCHA !! With his DQ, that means the Goph's will only have 19 players available to suit up on Friday, and they already have a "D" playing wing just to fill the lines. Sioux playing with a little confidence again, Goph's going through a little patch right now, should be a lot of fun !!
  19. He may have been the best HIGH SCHOOL player people ever saw. VERY good pro player, but hardly the best ever................though it is hard to tell how good he MAY have been. Very nice guy, and now gives back a lot to the game.
  20. Looks like the WCHA will have a response to Mav's actions................ http://www.insidecollegehockey.com/7Archiv...update_0517.htm
  21. The Blades ........no, really, they were !!
  22. Remember the Kansas City Scouts ?
  23. Seats 15,015 for hockey.............NHL prefers around 18,000, even if they can't sell them
  24. They sure do...........at least according to the Bradley Center web site, and the Admirals web site. But I do agree, it's not that great of an arena........they sure need to replace all the seat cushions, that's for sure !!
  25. Good for him....and for you. Fact is 95% of most fan bases are fabulous people (except maybe Wisconsin), unfortunately if you run into just that one "situation", it's the one that tends to stick you with you. At the Final 5, there are 6 of us Gopher fans, with 2 sets of Sioux fans on either side of us, 4 Sioux fans & 2 UMD fans in front of us, and a group of CC guys in back of us. We have GREAT time together, and it's one of the reasons I enjoy the Final 5 so much.
