I'd be interested in knowing how you all think this team will match up against DU and UMD. Not which teams are best based on talent and experience, but how the Hawks will match up against the kind of teams those two will put on the ice--the kinds of forechecks they use, neutral zone defenses, etc. I single those two teams out there because they will likely be factors in both the conference and NCAA championships, plus the fact that we fans are always comparing our recruits to theirs as if they are the standard we are measured against.

It's disturbing to see that Berry evidently knows how to get chippahs to commit but doesn't do it nearly as often as he should, us having a better rink than either UMD or DU. But I guess most fans will settle for also-ran.

Thanks. burd is old--nothing is perfectly clear anymore. I found myself wondering whether some of the older coaches with great recruiting history (think York before retirement) shy away from social media communication and have their assistants handle that.

What are the rules with respect to coaches communicating with recruits through social media? Verboten?

In gf’s world, no. You either sign with UND (grindah) or not (blue chippah).

Really helps, though, to have a draw specialist who can also score for crunch time situations.

Hopefully, he'll mature and bulk up some in the process, though it sounds like he plays a physical game, skinny as he is. But a lot of kids are skinny at that age.

Ralph I had a rocking rep, but as someone who watched the first game there as a student, people thought that building was too civilized and quiet. Winning changed that. Different factors now: they win a lot, but web-in-your-pocket changed everything about people's distraction level.

So many factors affect a single player's scoring output, including his line's ability to cover defensive assignments (not just him) and confidence in the defense (including goalie) behind him. They're all part of a single weave.

Speaking of which: Does the goalie have to pay for the artwork on his helmet? What is the price range for that kind of work?
