Let's feel Free to enjoy this one.

I need to Get It On with a Bill Chase classic. Great song to play in pep band. We might have been a hick town in SD but we had a fun pep band...
-
Thanks for the link. I've been using this one.

How can you be blamed when you see those colors??
-
You're right, Fetch, it is your thread. I was just staying in Shawn-O's theme here. It's why people at work call me "anal". (I almost started looking for songs starting with U myself because I couldn't come up with a band name!)
-
We should have an '80's thread so I can link the "thread" Police. We're looking for Band names alphabetically. Makes it more challenging.
-
It will be harder to dig deeper than you did on that one. Great find!
-
Don't forget this is a 70's A-Z list!
-
An amazing song for an incredible lake.

Steamroller Blues. Excellent choice. Well, we're talking the 70's and I think we need to pull out one of the all-time classic bands to help us Rock-n-Roll All Night and party every day!

Rylan is one of those players that epitomizes what Sioux hockey is all about. Gutty, hard working character player. A credit to the program and a credit to himself for sticking to it. Great story and I wish him all the success.

I'm still laughing!

Saw one of these snacking on roadkill in west central MN last year. Turned the car around just to be sure I saw what I thought I saw. (and you can crown my ass if you want to )

It's almost unfair how many excellent choices exist in the E's. However, getting away from a few tasty 70's classics, I decided to start From the Beginning and give a shout out to one of my favorite songs by Emerson Lake and Palmer.
-
Clarke might break the record for the Sioux's earliest departure yet. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. Most teams deal with this. Maybe he'll show up, but it doesn't sound good, does it.

Ah...memories of the music coming out of my brothers' room.

Man, I'm glad you got this whole thread going. There's so much good music back in the '70's, and a lot you don't hear on KQ. Great choice kicking off round 2. I'm getting a little hungry, if I'm going to make it through another round I'm going to need a little Bread? Song starts at about 1:40 or so...

I'd like to try a little of both, and then make up my mind!

Whoa whoa whoa whoa....No, that can't happen. That said, I pretty much agree with all of the rest of your post. For me, I hate MN deeply, but I remember the last couple Woog years and Lucia's first year and the rivalry just wasn't as intense for me then as it is now. As MN regained its prominence the rivalry heated up, for me. Now that there is a more active internet community, I might be more interested in the "kick them while they are down" mentality than I was at the time.
-
Personally, I don't even see this as an issue of whether Lucia made Guentzel a scapegoat. A head coach has a right to "adjust" his staff has he sees fit. In fact, I'll even guess that if Lucia made a change he probably had a good reason to do so. That said, the public explanation of what went down likely differs from the real story. And in the case of a firing described as a resignation that can also be understandable. However, since the majority of a team's fans are going to drink the Kool-Aid on those explanations, if a sports writer wants to stir the pot all he has to do is bring out the real story, add a dash of red pepper to spice it up, and there you go. Now Reusse has joined those few MN fans who don't care so much for Lucia with fans of other schools who are mandated to hate everything about their rival (or suffer death) and pitted them against the Kool-Aid drinkers. We should ALL thank Reusse for the off-season fun (easy for me to say).

This is understandable. My only question is why is the signing taking place in August if the terms are agreed to at this point?

I guess I didn't think he/she was bashing Duncan so much as saying Duncan came into college a relatively unheralded player, especially by the pros. Therefore, as fans it shouldn't be a big surprise that he's staying. Fact is, Duncan had a great year his sophomore year, was still a big contributor last year but didn't look as big of a factor. Do we love him as Sioux fans? Heck yes. Does that mean pro teams will be knocking down his door? Not necessarily. Certainly undrafted players have changed the minds of the pro teams during their college careers, but not every one will, and it's difficult for us fans to know what does and doesn't interest a pro team about our favorite player. And it's difficult for us to know just how serious a pro team's interest is. Whether they are or aren't interested in Duncan who cares. We're fortunate to get to watch him another year.

In the last 12 years here are the teams that have won the national championship: UND 2x MN 2x Denver 2x BC 2x Michigan State 1x Michigan 1x Maine 1x Wisconsin 1x There aren't many programs who get a chance to win, and to get 2 of the last 12 is pretty good. We can get down to parsing out whether Hakstol should have won one by now but let's look at Jerry York. York took over at BC in 1994. From 1998 to 2008 York's teams have been in the Frozen Four 8 times. How many times have they won? Hak is not far off the pace. However, he needs to win one who put himself with the next level of coaches.

Ok, so no one wants to take a stab at X? I wonder why. I'll take a shot. I'm going to pervert the rules, so feel free to give a game DQ to this suggestion. I couldn't come up with a 70's band/artist that started with X. So I thought, hmmmmm, maybe we go with a guy named xirdneh imij (if you look at his name in the mirror) and play something from one of his very last shows. This selection is from a show in Copenhagen just a couple weeks before his death. Jimi Hendrix Playing Copenhagen, Sept 1970.

burd, you opened my skull and took out a big scoop right there. Great post.
