  1. They had the DU radio guy on WCCO this morning and he said his first thought was someone from GF pulled the alarm but it was confirmed by the hotel that it was something in the kitchen.

Well, let's see how Chambers spins it....

  2. can anyone tell me why there are Mich tech Logos in the arena?

Last time I picked Gregoire he didn't play (Final Five) so I hope his health is not linked to my Sioux Survivor pick. We'll find out tomorrow....

    Gregoire.

  3. That's pretty ignorant. There's no evidence that it was a goal and by the rules it is NOT a goal. Being pissed off over that would be highly stupid.

I have to agree with DaveK's point that if this was the Sioux, and the no goal ruling was upheld, there would be a fair contingent of Sioux fans who would be screaming that the Sioux were robbed. I agree that the video was probably not conclusive to call it a goal, but if your team scored that goal I bet you would be able to find the shape of the puck as it's getting kicked out of the goal, and that shape is far enough back to be all the way in.

Conclusive? Not quite. But it's damn close and call me crazy I think it's interpreted by whether you wanted that goal to count or not. Not saying either side is right or wrong, just that's the way things usually break down. I bet if we read Michigan's board the majority of them would agree it was a good goal.

On a side note, DaveK admitted it wasn't conclusive in his first post. There were several posts with pretty harsh responses to his for some reason, and now people want to rip him for his arrogance? I don't think DaveK started this.....

  4. What Faison could/should have done is mention the scheduling issues (if they exist and I am not saying whether they do or not) and prove the scheduling issues. He then could have countered that by speaking of the tradition, what the name means to alumni, athletes, and fans, and then left it to the legislature to make their decision. Present both sides of the issue, honestly and straightforward and then get the hell out of the way.

    Agreed

  5. Dell was amazing and could have let one or two of those get by, but knight was robbed and trupp missed a wiiiide open net that could have made it 3-1. The "cross check" on chay that simpson sat for was terrible, frattin went to the box for getting slashed, no call when knight was tripped but then he goes to the box for a weak slash, chay getting tripped halfway thru OT...the Sioux had to battle thru a lot. Id love to see greg, rodwell, rowney get healthy...and move davidson onto the second line with gregs and knight

You are right on those near misses but on the other hand we cannot count on getting Davidson's and Kristo's goals to fall either. So in a way, that's a wash. Bounces do happen during games and who knows which team they will favor next time. But I agree with you, the Sioux did generate chances that were very close. Don't let Denver have more than it did, and convert on a few good chances and the Sioux should win. But Denver is a very good team so anything could happen. It will help if Gregoire can play.

  6. Hammy is a drama queen and an a self serving attention seeker. Hammy is the same guy that referred to Schlossman as being a lackey for UND hockey.

You are pretty much right on there, but that doesn't discount that his facts about players/recruits are generally dependable.

  7. Let me preface this by saying 1. I know you didn't say that so I'm not running you down and 2. I know it's not confirmed. However, I'm pretty certain that if it's not happening in Bjugstad's case, it is happening/has had happened in other players' cases.

But holy crap. If his coach feels he is needed at wing instead of centre because they're thin there, or because he's struggling there, or for whatever reason it's better for the team he's on NOW rather than a team he may be on in the future, that coach has the responsibility to put that player in that position, GMs be damned. College hockey is not an NHL farm team and our coaches are not the puppets of the GMs. EVEN IF they look like hedgehogs.

    Gross. I defended the Gophers.

Glad you did so I didn't have to. Close call there...

  8. The Sioux are now, and for the next few games, taking a journey to a place where the climate is perfect for the cultivation of bad habits. Provided the Sioux advance to the Final Five, the first period of play there will be a huge eyeopener for the team.

It's hard to be a downer the way things are going at the moment but yes, I had the same thought about playing this team again next weekend. Final Five could be a shock. Glad that's coming before the NCAA's.

  9. In case you missed it. There will be no popular vote, no nothing on a nickname.

One man will decide what he thinks is "cool" for UND's nickname for the "rest of eternity.":unsure::angry:

Will it be Beavers, Elk, Horses, Blue, Spirit, Or Farmers?

This comes directly from the UND's Nickname and Logo Blog website.

    http://nickname.und.edu/logo/?page_id=503

First, let me say that I'm not excited about Kelley determining the nickname. But to be fair, this is what the website says about the new nickname process:

UND will implement a transparent and inclusive transition process to establish new traditions and a new identity around which the entire University of North Dakota community can rally. The specific approach to choosing a new nickname and logo has not yet been developed. President Kelley will decide when and how to implement the process and, ultimately, will choose the University
