  1. I really feel that the people as a whole should come up with a way to thank the many Native American members of both the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock reservations who came out and voiced their beliefs in regards to the support of the Sioux nickname. They did so much, even though it was ultimately a losing battle. The people who "won" the fight, know that the supporters were right all along, hence the stonewalling and ignorance portrayed on their part.

I really want to thank these people so much, because the name means so much to me and many others...so, maybe there is a way we can all give them a warm round of applause, so-to-speak.

    Thank you supporters

Totally agree. There are a number of people, I'm sure both in the news and outside of the news, that worked in support of UND keeping the nickname. They owed us nothing, but for their own reasons they fought for UND to keep using the nickname and for that I am very much appreciative.

  2. Late 2nd, 1-1. Sioux with a puck possession edge, but not getting a lot of even strength chances.

And a few lapses, one that cost them. Need to be a little tighter and on their game in the 3rd. If so, they will win.

  3. First night...2-2 draw. Second night, 3-1 Irish! The real ND, the one with money, pride, athletic tradition, classy fans and school, will prove victorious.....and to think...the people down there are hardly even aware they have a hockey team. The way things are meant to be. God, Family, Football, Basketball, sport for unathletic white trash.

  4. The guy beside me had a real one and a drumstick to pound on it. I brought ear plugs and used them, but the end of the second period I couldn't take any more. We had to move before my head split. A UNO fan from several rows behind us caught up to me on the concourse and said how impressed they were that we lasted two periods in those seats. He said those seats are usually empty by 5 minutes into the game because of that cowbell. The UNO fans around him don't like it either.

We have the same seats for tonight, but will not even start there.

At some point isn't that worth bringing to the attention of the usher? Seems like that's over the top.

  5. I would love to get Michaelson and Knochenmus on board. :)

I find it odd that Schroeder isn't getting interest from UMN?

For anyone that has seen him play, how does he compare in talent to his brother?

I don't know about talent but apparently he's smarter....

  6. As I'm going to be out of town Thurs - Sun I better throw in my picks now before I forget. So at the risk of losing a guy who isn't going to play that night.....

    Fri - Gregoire

    Sat - Knight

  7. It still feels like the offseason, where everyone's vision of a player's ability is of their absolute best, when the truth is they'll see those heights a few times a year, mixed in with some clunkers and a bunch of average games. My feeling is every WCHA game will still be a battle. Even a down team like UAA usually gives UND fits, with their stable of strong, fast and especially big forwards. They may not be the most skilled, but they'll win races and wear a team down physically.

I think this weekend might be a good way for the Sioux to start the season. AA will try to beat them up a little. Welcome to the season, everyone. Could be a good thing to get the team into the groove.
