  1. I actually wouldn't mind them just wearing a blank jersey with numbers only. It won't happen as a huge distraction but would send an interesting message. Do they have to have anything on the front?

    I would love that
  2. Question for Jim Dahl, or perhaps other PWR experts. I'm not that familiar with the PWR, I generally wait until selection Sunday to find things out.

That said, I'm kind of curious....how does a team go from perhaps not making the tournament, and within 7 games land a #1 seed? If I recall, going into the Mankato series the Sioux could conceivably be left out of the tournament. They needed to sweep Mankato and their first round playoff series to give themselves a comfortable chance, and then 3 games later they move from there to a #1 seed.

I'm not looking for a highly technical explanation, but a more general one based on how the PWR works. It seems like it should be much more difficult than that (not saying it's not difficult to win those last 7 games, especially the Final Five).

    Anyway, happy to learn...

  3. Dagies, both fan bases have their jerkoff's I got asked to fight for no reason last nigth, I walked out quiet as can be. I love people that take it so serious they want to fight even though we as fans have no control over the game, A holes like that need to go.

And I wish you had taken me up on that.

j/k, obviously. You are right, but still, those are reason that added sweetness to the victory.

  4. BTW, it didn't take long for Gopher etiquette to show. Minutes after the game, a disappointed fan plows through a picture-taking moment and yells "LET'S GO DENVER" to a friend and me. I quickly replied "so-ore loo-oooser" back which was immediately met with some chest-thumping and a "wanna take this outside, Sioux fan?". No thanks, but I appreciate you barging in on a picture moment with a 12 year old Sioux fan.

Yes, leaving the arena last night a gopher fan pretends to be magnanimous but ends up with the whole "you're racist Nazi's" blah blah blah... Wish we would have seen the gopher fan after the game who, before the game, was yelling to everyone walking past the Liffey about Kristo's 3 toes, blah blah blah. All the gopher fans thought he was so clever.

    Last night was sweet.

  5. If this was to go to a vote, I believe you'll see a very large effort by those who support moving on to a new moniker to educate the population of ND to the issues and problems presented. Much more publicity will be given to the consequences already experienced (consequences of keeping the nickname). Hopefully, enough people will be open minded.

  6. Pattyn is NOT better than Mario right now. Mario is playing center (a more responsible position), doing a dependable job with faceoffs and has been put on the PK for a reason.

I like Pattyn's work ethic and I won't denigrate the important contribution he's made to this year's team, but let's not get carried away.

  7. Haven't many of us complained of similar things with the officiating in the WCHA? Guys getting held and impeded, inconsistent discipline for guys who hit dangerously?

I think he's overblowing the situation trying to justify his position, but at the same time what he's saying isn't all that far off what many fans have been saying for years.

  8. I'd like to see Chay get a chance too, but Cuma's been in the org a long time, has faced a lot of adversity, and this could be the club giving the guy a reward for persevering. Right now the Wild aren't really fighting for the playoffs, so seems to me they can reward a guy rather than worry about scoring an extra goal or two.

  9. This would suck. Picked up DirectTV over Comcast in Nov and added the SportsPack to get the Sioux games. Would not be happy to be blacked out again this weekend. Noticed last weekend that DirectTV had no programming on the channels they would normally show the Sioux games. So I suppose that speaks to the "bandwith" argument.

Maybe we all need to complain to DirectTV.

  10. Look, I'll be honest. In past years I've been a believer in the Sioux having the ability to bounce back. This year, after losing so much last year, and with the non-reports and Grimaldi's injury, after that dismal Bemidji game I actually thought for the first time in years that this season was "over".

Boy, was I wrong again. This team has proved its quality, and Hakstol and the coaching staff has as well.

  11. [

Blah Blah Blah. You guys that are content with just "being there" are the same people who want every single kid to get a trophy in sports. There are WINNERS and there are LOSERS, no matter how much you hippes want to give everyone a trophy, cookie, and a "atta boy" just for TRYING.

Hakstol, has done NOTHING that special since he's been here. His first few years he had Blais's teams that I COULD HAVE COACHED to the playoffs and FF. Bochenski, Parise, Toews, Oshie, Duncan, on and on and on and on.

He had SUPERIOR TALENT and at the end of the day came home with as many Championships (what programs like UND are judged by except by you liberal "happy to be there" clowns) as Michigan Tech and Alaska Anchorage have in the last decade.

Give me a NATIONAL TITLE and 11 bad seasons any day of the week over "Making the playoffs" and CHOKING every single damn year.

Although, that's so HARSH, especially for you "rah rah rah, never say anything negative about our Sioux, rah rah rah" fans.

That's fine. I'll just go with what one former player told me one season. I had given up on the team's chances by about December and he said "just be patient". The Sioux ended up in the Frozen Four (or was it the title game, I don't recall) and I asked him "what did you know that I didn't know" (BTW, he played here when Hak was an assistant).

He responded with "I know how good of a coach he is".

That's good enough for me. Hak hasn't had the luck in the final couple of games, but he's done damn well to continue to get there. His time will come.

  12. No, if they ignore the law, people will continue to battle FOR the law because they won't see the damages that would result in the long run. UND needs to comply with the law now, feel the pain the short term so that people understand the consequences, and then the matter can finally be put to rest once and for all.
