Thanks all for your insight and comments. Really helps to know what is going on. Yes, Manitoba was basically a patsy but the Sioux treated them like one, and it wasn't just a one line show. Time to ratchet it up one notch, and see how they all react against Niagara. Right now the boys must have some confidence and will be ready to go. Sicatoka pointed out some very telling comments. I really like the home-ice one. Thanks again.

I'm glad I had free tickets in a suite to the Wild game tonite so I didn't have to stay home and suffer kissing my sister, so to speak. I read the USCHO thread and I felt your pain. Actually, it is kind of humorous. It is vaguely reminiscent of some sort of cataclysmic event when lines of communication are down and the people out on the frontier undergo hardships for the common good. I would like to say that Brad Bombardir leads the NHL with a +8 rating. And because he does I'll say it. I would really like to hear a game wrap-up from anyone who attended the Manitoba game tonite. Sounds like there was good stuff that happened. I know, it is only Manitoba, but did I read that Massen had 2 goals? And Genoway scored, and Hale? That's great. Nice to see these guys lighting the lamp. I think someone also posted the line of Massen, Palmo and Connelly really played well. If so, that is also excellent news. We'll see if that can continue this weekend. Peace, all you Hardies. P.S. someone posted that Speez had an assist. While I am very impressed, Speez, I am surprised Blais found it necessary to suit you up, what with the injuries to Canady, Prpich, and Greene. What is your position, and do you really have any eligibility or do we need to hide this from our POI friends? (Administrator, thanks for setting up the avatar. I look great.)
  4. Yes he is according to today's Herald.
  5. Personally I think this is a good illustration of how meaningful early season polls are. I suppose you have to do them but I don't think one should put much stock in them. I think it is way too early to put the Sioux at #7 in the nation. Let's face it, last year was not a good year. We have played 2 games this year, one against a bad Canisius team. Yes, we did play pretty well against a top ranked Michigan team but that is one game. I don't think we really know what this team is made of for at least a couple weeks. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think the Sioux ARE a #7 team. I just don't know that there is enough proof this early in the season. I sure as heck hope they are. I like the leadership on this team, and the effort being shown on the ice so far. Hope it keeps up this weekend!
  6. Hopefully we can do without a snowstorm like last year, however.
  7. I hope it is true. That would really be impressive.
  8. In similar fashion, Sedevie gave up 3 shoot-out goals and Ziegelman 0 in an OT loss to Lincoln. In further bad news for Sioux goalies Lamaroux was pulled in the 1st period of that game after giving up 3 goals on 9 shots. Darn. They will bounce back.
  9. I think this is an important series this weekend. The guys need to make REA their home ice. They didn't really own it last year and it sounds as if this year's team is gunning to make the REA a place people don't want to come and play, just like the old REA. Niagara played Michigan pretty well so I would guess they are better than Canisius. The team will have to play well to win. It is my feeling they need to sweep these games just to create and begin to build that home-ice momentum, especially with so many home games before Christmas. I'm excited to see how the team reacts as the season progresses. I expect Parise's numbers will not match his first weekend. That is too much to expect and he will now be getting Spiewak/Notermann/Calder type treatment I would expect. So it will be very impressive if we can find other guys on the ice to handle the scoring load, guys like Bochenski, Lundbohm, Massen, Genoway(?), etc. It will be good to have Genoway on the ice to see what he can do. And it will also help a lot to have Canady back in the lineup when that day comes. We will be much deeper at that point. Niagara isn't an upper tier team, I don't think, but I still see this weekend as a very important one.
  10. I hope it works out to be a great trip Sockeye! 3 wins for the guys team would be great. I'm heading to ND this week myself and am quite excited about it. If I can't be coming for a Sioux hockey game then I better be hunting and that is exactly that. I hope to be watching the games in a bar somewhere. GO SIOUX!
  11. Do you remember Blais saying "Everybody wants to play with him" or something like that? He's a special player. Who knows how long he will be around but Sioux fans should see any game they can. It sounds like Parise's impact may go beyond what he does on the ice. I'm not trying to deify the kid. What I am saying is, with what we have heard about him, it would appear he is: A. A damn good player B. The charisma to be a very good leader C. Goal oriented with a strong work ethic D. His head screwed on right. These all combine into a rare combination.
  12. Speaking of me personally I don't mind when fans of other teams post here as long as they are reasonable and respectful, as I try to be when I am on their site.
  13. Taz, I did not hear this interview. I did hear Dark Star one evening this week. I only caught a few minutes of his show. He was talking about the NCAA wanting to take away the tournament games from UND because of the logo and nickname. Dark was very clear that he was tired of the political correctness that is running rampant at this time, and that no one should make UND change the name if they don't want to. He did say UND should listen to the American Indian people and their wishes but it seemed to me that unless there were overwhelming numbers of AI's who wanted change and their reasons were not compelling then there is no reason UND should make a change. I thought he rather strongly supported UND in this case.
  14. Maybe Stafford gets all his points by throwing the puck in the general direction of Sidney Crosby.
  15. Thanks, PCM. There was SO much positive in that interview. Very excited to hear his comments about 1. Team chemistry being improved 2. Critical of D. Lundbohm last year, really happy with him this year. AND that Lundbohm was a leader insisting guys worked this summer. My concern has been Lundbohm's effort for this year. Now I have erased that board and am starting clean again. This is exciting. It was so good to see his 5 points this last weekend. 3. Positive comments on Genoway's ability to be productive. I think this is key to the Sioux being offensively threatening on down through the lines. Excellent news.
  16. Nice article on Fabian. Let's hope he can make that improvement! http://www.topekascarecrows.com/stories/10...new_crows.shtml
  17. Anyone know anything about this player? I haven't heard anything about him. I see he is second on the Shattuck team in points right now with 14 in 8 games. 3 goals and 11 assists. 6' 180# center according to the roster. Leading scorer is Sydney Crosby with 18 points, the 15 year old phenom.
  18. That's great info, hrkac. I think at some points this year we would be able to show a decent group to one of these places if they will cater to us.
  19. What I like most about Parise's stats is "2 shorthanded goals". No he won't average one per game, but what did we have 5 or 6 all of last year? I remember Hrkac scoring plenty. Not to compare but ever since those days when the Sioux have taken a penalty my comment has always been "well, I guess we'll just have to score shorthanded". Maybe it will start coming true again.
  20. Hey Goon, I like that. Which one is Smack, which one Boom, which one is Bang?
  21. With all due respect to a very good MN team (that I have predicted will finish #1 in the WCHA), a friend who also watched that game thought that Ohio State looked like a D3 team out there. Certainly a good team can do that to you, but it sounded like they weren't very fast or skilled. MN will kill a team like that. That said, I still feel MN has a deeper crop of dangerous forwards than ND. They think their defense is really good. Their defense is good offensively, but will they be as good positionally and defensively as the Sioux? That remains to be seen. Early in the season maybe you can guess whether either has the edge in goal, defensive play might go to ND, and offensive play to MN. Who will win?
  22. I'm afraid only casual fans, and gopher fans at that.... However, I appreciate the info because I will certainly look for an opportunity to watch!
  23. On USCHO there is a post with TV schedules and it shows the UND/WI series in Nov as being on UPN. I find that hard to believe. If anyone can confirm or deny I'd be grateful. http://www.uscollegehockey.com/vb/showthre...&threadid=16280 http://pubpages.unh.edu/~jdgibney/hockey/chtv.html
  24. I've had luck at Champps in Richfield when the Sioux were in the GLI last year. In that case I believe the game was on Fox Sports something something and they could get it on their satellite. However, I went back at some point later in the season for a game (forget which one) and they could not access the coordinates normally carrying the Sioux. But watch when the Sioux are in a more major market like WI or something, you may get lucky. And if a group of Sioux fans is gathering somewhere in the cities it would be great if you don't mind company to post it here. Might be a few more that show up...
