  1. Bad Eagle makes a lot of sense here. The issue isn't the logo, it is people's conduct and their taste, or lack of it. The logo should be positive. It should be uplifting. People who want to remove the logo will not solve the ultimate problems perceived related to the logo. This has been argued by many of us already, so it is not news but it is nice to hear again from someone who seems more "involved" in this issue. One hopes that over time those opposed to the logo can also appreciate this position.
  2. I believe Friday's game will be on.
  3. I think you are right Bert. From what little I have seen him play, and from comments from others who have watched him play he does look to be a special player. Will he be more special than everyone else? The test of time and teams will be the judge. I'd prefer to put all that talk away for a while and see what is going on around Christmas. 2 tiresome themes lately 1. How great is Parise and how long will he stay? 2. How soft is UND's schedule. Things are what they are. Let's just play the games, and talk about non-game stuff when there ain't no games to be played.
  4. Thanks PCM and Schmidtdoggydog. I was curious if the coaches thought the team played better on Sat than on Fri or not. Will look forward to hearing about the coaches show. Very happy to hear they felt Siembida played well. That is very encouraging.
  5. Ticketmaster? Never heard of them. I get my tickets through TicketNazi or TicketBastard.
  6. I was wondering if anyone got to hear postgame (Yale) comments by Blais or the coaching staff? I didn't get to listen to the game and I was wondering what the coaches take was on the game the Sioux played. I know Blais was not happy with the team after Friday's game. I suspect he may not have been happy Sat either. Any info out there?

jeffj, that's great to hear about Matt. Matt will be an important player for the Sioux this year.

I was really surprised to hear Spiewak get a DQ, like you say, PCM. From all accounts Higgins didn't do anything dirty but if Spie got involved to this extent I do believe he thought he saw something that needed to be "addressed". It's not like him to go off half-cocked. After seeing McMahon dismember that guy from UMD last year I can only imagine he was looking for a good excuse to go again.
  9. If I am not mistaken, in the USHL didn't Josh have quite good numbers in shoot-out wins, i.e. was a good goalie at stopping breakaways?
  10. Continuing the pessimism, remember the game was what, 2-2 until the ejections, then the Sioux began to dominate. Regardless, I am VERY happy to see who scored the goals last night. I am happy to see how this team is rallying around each other, and sticking up for each other. I can't believe there were a total of 8 ejections though. Ouch. I still echo jk's earlier sentiments. I can't wait to see how this team performs for the next 2 months so we have a better picture of what we really have here.
  11. I agree Scott. I could only listen to the game, but judging from Blais comments I think there is reason to be concerned. I know in the past the Sioux have had successful seasons relying on one line. But the guys on 2 of the other lines are almost all underclassmen. For the future we need to see scoring, if not only just to help out this season with scoring depth. I wonder if the team got too caught up in trying to out-physical Princeton after the Parros comments. Maybe tonite the team will try to play good sound Sioux hockey. Maybe we can take a few less penalties?? I would also expect Massen to play tonite, based on the same interview I heard that PCM referred to. Genoway, where are you?
  12. Some of Blais postgame comments: Unhappy with the Lundbohm Notermann Spiewak line. Said they weren't communicating and didn't create chances. Said Notermann worked hard and had chances and nothing to show for it. Said the other guys need to communicated better with him and tell him when to shoot and when to pass. Unhappy with Hale and Fylling and someone else for taking stupid penalties. Unhappy that Genoway didn't communicate with Jones on Princeton's first goal. Didn't think the team played very well. Unhappy that no other lines created chances. Thought Jones played the best of the defensemen. Most of the guys played very average One wonders if Blais shouldn't just sit Bochenski Parise and Fylling for a game just to see how everyone else reacts. No, I'm not real serious.
  13. Here's a quote from the ESPN article: Sounds to me like Parise regrets his impulsive decision. Also looks like the guys don't like how Blais treats them.
  14. Hey, at least around here we CARE to know the facts!
  15. Shots question. What constitutes a shot on goal? Any puck the goalie has to stop? Or only those sent by the opposing team? Or only those shot from within the blueline? Just curious. Will soon get to watch my tapes of the Niagara series and maybe I will try to count along.
  16. Thanks a ton for the time and effort, all. !

    ND out east

Sockeye, it is too bad Brian couldn't play this weekend. I am glad they are being cautious with this shoulder. Better to sacrifice a couple games instead of the rest of the year. Hope it works out soon for him.
  18. One other thing. Again, I only saw half of each game, and even then was a bit distracted for various reasons. But it seemed to me at times the Sioux still had trouble clearing the zone. Am I the only one concerned about this?
  19. Got to see about half of each game while in ND this weekend. Did anyone else cover their face when Notermann's first SH attempt beat the goalie but hit the post? I almost died I felt so bad for him. I was really happy to see both he and Spiewack come back just a bit later with SH goals. What a redemption for Notermann. Regarding those two, I really thought they both showed a more dominating offensive ability on the ice on Friday. Really impressive. Parise is a great player but still a freshman, ala the drop pass in a bad part of town. Ouch. I was very surprised to see Brandt play Sat as the he seemed pretty average on Friday?? But I didn't see the first 2 goals so maybe I am too harsh on him. Sat was a stellar effort either........Hope he can find a groove.
  20. There's some fans of another team out there who might find this interesting. Because, of course, Blais mistreats his players and Blais doesn't emphasize academics, only winning. To add to this I was watching a tape of an old game with MN recently and Jeff Panzer was interviewed between periods. He was asked what it was like to play for Blais and he said something very close to "Oh, it's very easy to play for Coach. You always know what he expects from you and what he wants you to do. He knows what it takes to win and is willing to put in the work to win". I'm sure Jeffy hated his time as a Sioux and lost respect for how Blais treated his teammates........

Feel free to hit the email button and give me the run down on Canady's pregame interview. Sounds like it was a good one. Thanks

Especially hard being his parents are in town for the game Friday. I would usually prefer the team to hold him out for precautionary reasons but it is not like his parents have much opportunity to see him. So I hope he can make a go of it without injuring himself.
