fan, it sounds like you know your hockey. I wouldn't have thought to notice who was taking the defensive zone face-offs, etc. That's one of the great things I get from reading these boards. Tidbits that help me learn the game better. Thanks for the input and the scouting report.

A thought on this topic. Maybe Fylling isn't on the 4th line because he is rated 9-12 on the chart, but maybe to help jump start that line. Motormann is killing right now, so he deserves a spot with Parise and Bo to really make the line click. Massen Lundbohm and Spiewak don't really need to be adjusted. Prpich, Hale and McMahon are sound. So you put a guy like Fylling on the 4th line, someone with speed and some skill with Genoway and Canady. Maybe this helps create some chances and gives Genoway a more skilled player to help get him started. Also, being they are the "4th" line they might get some match-up advantages playing against another team's 4th line. Just a thought.

I'm only watching game tapes so am a week behind but the guy into the AA series that was starting to look comfortable is Prpich. Seems really involved.

Blais calls Notermann "the guy with no brakes". Thinks he's on his way to a 20 goal season but doesn't want to jinx him. Blais seemed happy with the game effort tonite. Tim and CB talked about the fans getting into the game more now, and CB said the better ice has helped the team, along with the team playing better, and that makes it better for the fans to watch. Blais said that after Brandt gave up the first goal both Hales went out and told him to bear down, it was no big deal. CB said the second goal was a lucky bounce. Notermann said Jake played a great weekend. Said his line needs to bury their chances. Blamed the 2 WI goals on sloppy play by the Sioux. Thinks there will be shooting drills in practice this week. Jason is saying that the REA is feeling a lot more comfortable this year, last year just wasn't quite like "home". Andy Schneider said that "100%"of the guys on the team came to UND because of how great the fans are.

Boys got a sweep like they should have, so that is positive. Also GREAT to see Speedwak, Motormann, and Massen scoring tonite. NOT great to win a game 3-2 when you outshoot them 44-13. And they get their 2 goals in the 3rd period that you are supposed to win. Argh.

I was pulling for Jake to get his 3rd in a row but wasn't to be.

UPB, I think I wish I had seen that thread on POI. Darn! Thanks for stopping by and I hope it won't be the last time.

They showed the water bottle fight on the jumbotron? That would be worth the trip right there....darn. Count me as one who is getting worried about scoring. Creating chances to this hockey novice is one thing. Finishing is another. It seems to me that a team that busts their butt and outworks another team can create opportunities, but it takes skill to put the biscuit in the basket. People with more experience might know better than me, but for now I am starting to get worried. 3 games at home we've dealt with this..........

I don't know. According to some people on Greyeagle's side they think it is working on him.........

Parise article in a Madison paper. This is pretty relevant as there is a bit of an answer to ongoing speculation: http://www.madison.com/captimes/sports/uw/..._news/37256.php

I love college hockey. I love being a Fighting Sioux fan.

I'm wondering if they should allow Greene any unsupervised access to Archie this weekend. Wisconsin's defense seems a bit suspect right now. They are often giving up 4-5 goals a game. Their O is only putting up 2-3 for the most part. I would bet they are coming on as they learn to play for a new coach. However, the Sioux need to sweep this series at home. They should be the better team, more established in their system, playing at home, have built the confidence that success to this point affords them, etc. The Badgers seem to be trying to find out who they are right now. Goaltending: Badgers Bruckler was tough on the Sioux last year. Is Kabatoff still playing? Special Teams: ? Don't know enough to comment Defense: Sioux Sioux defense is pretty dang good so far this year. Young Badger offense will have some trouble and will need to take advantage of their few opportunities. Offense: Sioux It will be interesting to see if Parise can break out of his scoring "slump" this weekend. But I think the team is showing the ability to score some goals and as long as we can get a few more opportunities past the netminder than we did last weekend we will be ok. Coaching: Sioux Eaves may prove to be Blais equal but still establishing himself so time will tell if he can be on an equal status. Intangibles: Sioux Sioux have confidence, and home ice. Badgers still learning a new system and probably aren't bringing the same level of talent that the Sioux currently possesses. Archibald pre-game speech builds a frenzy not seen in a Sioux locker room since 1985. Sioux win Friday 4-3 Sioux win Sat 6-2

I like this idea, jk. Will be fun to compare.... Fits the theme of the "2002 Revenge Tour".

Thanks for the comments, kr, though I wouldn't consider it "work". I also appreciate others voices on this board as it adds spice to the conversation.

PCM, looks like he is referring to the Reusse segment on KSTP that I referenced a few posts back.

Do you suppose Eaves and Archie will be duking it out this weekend? Sioux have a great chance for a sweep again this weekend, especially if they want to keep proving they are a contending type team. Badgers will be ready to play, it's a special weekend for Sauer, and a big rivalry. Their upperclassmen know about the Sioux and will have the team ready. Plus, after last season they will feel like they have a chance to win. We need to crush that confidence.

I'll say one last thing on the topic, as this goes to Virg's integrity as well as it is a discussion about Parise. I heard Patrick Reusse on KSTP this morning. He said that Brooks called him last night and said he didn't say that to Virg. However, he wouldn't go on the record with that either. Reusse's comments seemed to indicate some uncertainty whether this was just spin control by Brooks, or a flat denial that this ever happened. I think that it is telling he wouldn't go on the record with Reusse.
-
Brooks is now saying the quote is inaccurate: http://www.grandforks.com/mld/grandforks/s...rts/4552133.htm Hard to say if it is spin control or not........However, I have a hard time believing that a hard quote would be misrepresented by Virg. Like PCM, I think, said earlier. When you quote someone, you use the exact quote. When you describe what they said to you, then there is more room for interpretation. Virg used supposedly an exact quote. We'll see....

Hopefully we can just keep it to this stuff for a while. Drop the puck!

jk, Blais better get on the recruiting trail because you've got most of our guys gone early!!! Don't forget Fuher in your "most improved" list. I think he is up there too. Your report is exciting. Can't wait till I get to finally see the team live myself.

Hopefully Archhibald's spirit will enhance the Sioux's ability to handle WI this weekend. I just wonder if when Archie sees all that red during his HOF induction if he just won't blow another gasket. Wish I could be there.

Sounds like the Sioux ran into the Great Wall of China again tonite. Reiter really played well and stoned numerous good chances. Good thing the guys found a way to win. Again outshot the Seawolves pretty handily. Blais was real happy with the play tonite. Said at no time did he feel in danger of losing this game with a 1-0 lead they way he was concerned last night with a 2 goal lead. He was that happy with the play. Blais was real impressed with Reiter. Tim asked him about the number of bouncing pucks and Blais said last night they questioned whether the pucks were frozen but that they freeze them themselves so knew they had been. Said Brandt did a good job tonite. Did some real subtle things with the stick that helped him out, i.e. pokechecking the puck, etc. Said Robin Anderson came to the bench and apologized for having to call off that goal. Said he just lost site of the puck and had to blow the whistle but realized it was the wrong call and admitted it. Blais said Anderson had a real good weekend, even with the calls on the Sioux players, they were all penalties. Brandt was also interviewed and I was real impressed with him. Really up front with his own frustrations with his play, and took responsibility for it. Said that it is hard when you face only so many shots a game but that he is really working to maintain his focus now, so he can be ready when he needs to make a save. Was pretty critical of his play. Seemed like a great kid. Sioux had 34? shots to 22 for AA. Bring out the brooms at the REA!
