Then I wouldn't have to be in the boat all by myself. Good info. Sounds like very level comments. I am curious what comments, if any, were made about Genoway, being his name was mentioned in your post?

I have a second grader. That's a job for someone else, not me!!

Wait just a cotton pickin' minute.... Ryan Connelly listed as 6 feet tall? Rory McMahon as 6'1". Both these guys grew 2 inches over the summer? hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........
-
jk, I think I would even add R Hale and McMahon to that list. My position is that I thought both showed some real flashes of ability last year, like they were poised to really show something this year. Will they? I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Another good game for Sedevie and Fabian. http://www.topekascarecrows.com/stories/09...2/new_win.shtml

I listened to the Wild game last night and Roche was playing. Hopefully he is still with the team when they come to GF.

From reading the news and posts on the Carolina website it looks like DeFauw and Bayda made the cut-down of the prospects and get to go to camp with the big club. Good luck to them. It is hard to believe Bayda can make the big club right away but it would be a little disappointing to lose him only to the AHL for this year. Hope he can make it.

Sorry, it gets a little hard to see a hockey game in a football sized stadium. Just doesn't work that well .

Here is a link to some info mentioning Bayda and DeFauw at the Carolina Hurricanes training camp. Read to the bottom and follow the links for Day 1-3 to get info. http://www.caneshockey.com/custom/radB5DD7.asp

Says here that Fabian scored a power play goal and Sedevie made 29 saves on 30 shots in the first preseason game. Good for those guys! http://www.topekascarecrows.com/stories/09...w_bucbowl.shtml

Chris Porter Lincoln Stars http://www.lincolnstars.com/ Matt Smaby Shattuck St. Mary's http://www.s-sm.org/Athletics/Team.aspx?TeamId=18 They don't have a roster listed but the Shattuck site lists rosters for some of the younger teams, so would expect that is coming Brady Murray Salmon Arm Silverbacks http://www.sasilverbacks.com/main.html (2 points in 2 games so far) Layne Sedevie Eric Fabian Topeka Scarecrows http://www.topekascarecrows.com/ Replacement for Fournier?????

Let's hope his twin sons emulate their father in a number of ways.

If I understand you correctly, Nike won the contract for the jerseys but essentially is farming the work to Gemini? Strange. I'm with ScottM. I hate Nike. Would rather see the little man's logo. Hope they look good.
-
Sprig, I will message it to you. I get squeemish about naming private individual's names on the net.
-
I'm surprised if they changed from Gemini to Nike. Gemini is owned by a former UND grad and Sioux from the Hrkac era. He didn't play much, and I think he played football more than baseball. Don't quite remember the whole history. Anyway, a switch is a bit of a surprise.

I'm wondering if a guy like Brenden Connelly could also show up on the ice, if the Sioux want another forward on the roster.

PCM, your efforts are appreciated.

Well, at least we know Doc's still alive, then.

Wow. That surprises me about Goren. He never struck me that way.

Question on Parise. For those who have seen this guy play before, is he a goal scorer, or a set-up guy? With his huge numbers at Shattuck, my perception is a set-up guy that can put the puck away too. However, with the talented linemates he had, maybe he is a better finisher? Curious what people who know more might think.

I applaud the captain choices this year, and I am also glad to hear they are not afraid to work the team in an effort to bring improvement. I want to be careful here not to be critical. It is good to work the guys hard. I hope the captains will be able to show equally good leadership in other situations that require a less "gung-ho" approach. I.e. knowing when a guy needs a pat on the back, or a shoulder to lean on at the right time, etc. Or showing steadiness under game pressure situations, etc. If so, we will have a great leadership group this year, even if the number of upperclassmen is not great.

The Sicatoka, I agree with you. Going back to 1997, maybe before, the comment on the Sioux is that they owned the 3rd period. In the 3rd they always had more legs than the other teams. Last year, that comment was at times made about the other team. I hated hearing it. I hope that doesn't happen again. However, I do wonder if that is a factor of size. Those older teams had, IMO, a larger population of smaller faster skaters than what I consider to be a more physically imposing line-up at this time. It might be something we have to live with, due to our size.

Remember early in this thread someone who should know makes it sound like this is not the first time that Fournier was a bit soft coming into the season. I agree, muscle isn't the determining factor to success. However, when one's peers get on them for lack of performance, that's usually an indication of really letting them down. I gotta feeling there was some real indication of a lack of commitment to the teammates in this situation. The way Chris talked about his Lincoln days says to me he is looking for a change of scenery, and UND wasn't doing it for him. Good luck to him, except against UND. For me I am sad to see him go. Hate to see his potential at UND go to nothing.
