I'm starting to get nervous. I can handle getting beat, but not by the gophers. Regardless of what 5 Hole had to say, you never know what is going to happen when these 2 teams meet. You just never know. I'll have so much energy tomorrow I wish I'd be at the game. A bit easier to blow off steam when you are there live and not at your buddy's house trying not to scare the 2 babies.

What more is there to say that hasn't been said? It's the calm before the storm.

I'm jealous. Here's a good luck send off to all the Sioux fans heading out for Columbus. It didn't work out for my group to attend this year, and it's too bad, but we'll be there at some point in the future with the rest of you. In the meantime, it is important that you all bring home AT LEAST one victory this weekend. Good luck Travel Safely Have Fun!

Yes, and I kind of thought I've been holding back!

Oops. I wondered why I hadn't seen it anywhere. But I was out of touch most of the weekend....

It's great to hear David is back on the ice. Thanks for the news.

Actually, I kind of liked the net. But I agree with siouxtattoo42's suggestions before actually changing the net.

The head coach gets the criticism if the team is lagging, and the praise if the team is doing well. Hakstol is responsible for who is on his staff, so ultimately, he takes the heat when things go bad, and should get the rightful share of the credit when things go well. I absolutely agree that Berry and Eades deserve their share of the credit. I specifically defend Hakstol because no one ever calls for firing the assistant coaches. They call for firing the head coach.

That's how I understood that comment. It came right after he called himself a rube for reading the SS board to find out what happened in Alaska, so he would know where his own club stands.

Talked a bit about the rivalry. Hennessey had called in to refute an earlier caller, a gopher fan who lives in Fargo, who called Dubay to complain about all the gopher bashing that went on during this weeks Coaches Show. He was talking about "the bumbling idiots" that spent the show ripping Potulny, Irmen, and calling some gophers "slimy". So Hennessey, who apparently has a very friendly relationship with Dubay, called to set the record straight, for which Dubay was very appreciative. Of note, Dubay asked about why the team turned it around. He mentioned having read the SS message board after the Alaska loss because he was interested in watching the progress of that game as it had implications for where the gophers would be in the WCHA standings. He was amazed at all the Hakstol bashing after that game, and the people calling for his head. Hennessey said what turned around the season was a "bag skate". Dubay said he was not familiar with that term. Hennessey went on to explain that a bag skate didn't involve a lot of pucks, you just skate until you puke. Hakstol skated the boys hard, told them that losing was not acceptable ("take another lap!), etc etc. And since then the team has turned it around. Too bad our coach sucks.

Gophers were a higher seed going in, so that they will stay.

Will check that out. I had no time last night. Thanks!

This is a good point. Only for the sake of continuing the discussion (not necessarily to prove either of us might be right or wrong) I will point out another scenario, one that might fit my original take on things. Lucia is very good about putting a positive public light on issues within his program. For the moment assume Hirsch's actions were nothing more than what Airmail suggests, the behavior of a frustrated player. Lucia might have him practicing on the 4th line to tell Tyler that he can't just be disrupted and hope to come back to everything being hunky-dory. You have to work your way back into the line-up, kid. In fact, how many forwards does Lucia have? It would seem if Hirsch is questionable he might be practicing with the 5th line, not the 4th. Again, PCM, you force me to admit that I read between the lines with my original analysis. And you make a very valid point that what Tyler says publicly MAY not be representative of what he might be dealing with if it is a mentally related situation. So I will keep an open mind as of yet.
-
PCM, I'm willing to admit I could be wrong, but here's what I based my opinion on: I take that to mean he's debunking the mental breakdown theories. You might even read into "walk the walk".... Doesn't sound like he's agreeing with the doctors to me. On it's own, these last 2 comments don't say much to me. Added to some of the other comments, though, I think it makes a stronger case that Tyler's saying he and his family has some very strong beliefs that might make them look different than others, but they can handle it. Overall, it seems Tyler is saying I'm going to be who I am regardless of what other people think. That's admirable, and I don't have an issue with that. In fact, I admire him for having that attitude. From a "faith" angle, that's exactly what believers are supposed to do. No, PCM, he doesn't come right out and say it. But I was one who believed he must have mentally broke down, and after reading what he has to say I have to question if that was really the problem.
-
I think it says he didn't a mental breakdown. In fact, IMO, it infers the religious angle is more correct. I'm happy to hear mentally everything appears just fine. I'm certain he'll be playing in the FF.

I did that last week for the first regional game. Taped the game, then watched it later. Had no clue what the outcome was, so it was just like it was live, except I could forward through the commercials. And I could rewind immediately things I wanted to see again.

Fantastic stuff. Thanks PCM!!
-
Great article, PCM. Again, how easy is it to cheer for these guys?
-
I'm convinced. That stupid Hakstol....He hired a good offensive coach, and then made the guy install his good offensive system and then HE EVEN LET HIM RUN IT!!!! Fire Hakstol!!!
-
1. Isn't that what Blais used to do? 2. Ever watched Lucia?
-
That's sweet stuff. Great to read. Think these guys have fun?
