  1. I hope you are right that it was an injury dragging his scoring down. I had high hopes for Andrew offensively this year, and at the Mankato series he showed that he can shoot the puck, but he had trouble contributing offensively on a consistent basis. He gets very few opportunities to fire the puck in the open for whatever reason, and I'd love to see him get more of those chances.
  2. Some of the newbies that come and talk smack do nothing but drag the board conversation down, but overall, Jim, I agree with your point and suggest we all should learn to deal those situations when they come up. While I can understand why a board would choose to shut that stuff down, I think your policy is the best. Thanks again for everything you do.
  3. Exactly. They have a number of excellent candidates, so there should be a very capable coach hired.
  4. It is easy to see how they could be mistaken for each other in this instance.
  5. No, but I think he can kiss the Hobey goodbye.
  6. It would be unfortunate if that is what chases Lee to the pro ranks. While I'm not against being critical of a player that makes mistakes, it's one thing to point out mistakes and it's another to scapegoat a player, which is what Lee has become for some, IMO. If he goes, I believe we will miss him this year. It's been said before, but these kids are just that, kids. It's got to be difficult to live up to the type of passionate praise and unbridled criticism that many of us fans heap on our athletes. Again, I'm not saying that a player who makes a mistake can't be identified, but there's a difference between evaluation and judgement.
  7. Interesting, they list Bina as having taken the Finley penalty at the end of the game.

    BC / MSU

I only watched the last 3 minutes of this game as I expected BC to take it home easily too, and frankly I'm still in recovery from Thursday. But when I logged on here and saw it was tied I watched the rest. Since I didn't see much of the game, did BC really play down, or is MSU a better team than given credit for? Great point. I was thinking the same thing about once you make the tournament, anything can happen. Look at this year's tournament. No #1 seeds made the Frozen Four, and only 1 #2. Probably the least heralded of the Frozen Four teams actually survived. That's pretty wacky.
  9. Ryan Duncan said the fan support made him proud to be a Fighting Sioux. Well, Ryan, guys like you make fans like me proud to be a fan of the Fighting Sioux. Congratulations, Ryan. Way to go. Coach Hakstol, good job pointing out that Ryan's first half of the season was not all Oshie and Toews.
  10. Yeah, good thing Lucia got his championships before Hakstol came along.
  11. Considering how measured his responses usually in the media it was an interesting end to the press conference. I was watching and thinking "I don't see this frustration that others mentioned" until about the last minute. Then I was glad I wasn't going toe-to-toe with Hak. Hak is willing to give respect to the other team, but dang you if you try to take anything away from his.
  12. You got your wish! Good story here. Too bad ASF couldn't have at least seen one win.
  13. I'm too used to seeing too many Sioux players leave after recent seasons to hold out any hope. This year I'll settle for the pleasant surprise.
  14. Thank you to Chris, Erik, and Scott for your contributions to the program and for the great memories for us fans. Erik's ungainly skating style allowing him to sneak up on unsuspecting gophers, steal the puck and wheel a shot for an important goal. Chris Porter for big goals scored in big NCAA games. Scott for representing to the rest of us just what desire and character can do for a person in whatever they want to do. Continued success in the future in everything you do, and THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES.
  15. I agree. Overall, I think BC played well enough to win this game. The Sioux didn't give away the game, but what hurts is I think they gave away their best chance to win. Finley didn't have a great game, Lee didn't seem to have a great game, the DOT line was not able to be a great factor 5x5, etc. I think that untimely/poor penalties that the Sioux took, coupled with BC tying up Sioux players in front of the BC net, while the Sioux DID NOT tie up BC players in front of the Sioux net were the big differences in the game. I don't think the Sioux offensively clicked as well as they have in the past. The breakout and transition games didn't seem to fire on all cylindars, and that hurt too. But BC kept the Sioux from picking up any rebounds or garbage out front, while BC got too many in close opportunities.
  16. It's my fault. As I sat down before the game I had a good feeling about the outcome. A bad 2nd period hurt, and some bad decisions in the last 5 minutes. I give the guys credit for continuing to fight to the end, but it just wasn't enough to overcome the deficit. I give BC credit, they are a very good team. Good goaltending, good transition game, and opportunistic. They may have won this game anyway, but we sure didn't have to help them as much at the end of the game. Good season, guys. The end of the season run sure made the beginning of the season feel like it was years ago. Bummer.
  17. Genoway is the player of the game for the Sioux so far, IMO. And not just because of one diving stop at the blueline. He's been great all over. DOT line needs to take control. Sioux need to work the BC boys over in the offensive zone, wear them down like the Porter line has.
  18. Well, I've suited up and it's time to head down to the tv bunker. GO SIOUX!!!!!
  19. This tells me we aren't going to bang BC into submission, but hopefully wear them down over time by controlling the puck in the offensive zone. I wonder what BC's face-off %'s are. That was a huge factor for the Sioux in the game against MN.
  20. BC also has one of the best PK's in the nation, and has had some success with SH goals. I think Gerbe's got 4. I hope you are right and I am wrong.
  21. BC has been dominant down the stretch, not giving up too many goals and scoring too many. We can debate whether they play in a weaker conference but even NCAA teams they dominated. Maybe Schneider will play like the last couple of times against the Sioux, and maybe not. Either way, I think the Sioux are looking up at BC in the game tonite. They have a chance, but they better play well, front to back and top to bottom, or another run comes to an end.
