  1. I didn't want to like that call but after watching it on the replay I thought it was reasonable. Again, that's just my take.
  2. I died when Radke hit Johnson. I don't know what he was thinking but you just can't make that hit in a game like this and at that time of the game, etc. I felt it was a critical period of the game, potentially the outcome in the balance. If the Sioux kill it maybe they take the momentum and take the game. If the Gophers score, maybe it's lights out. The Sioux had to work hard and expend energy to kill all 5 minutes, but when you look at how they did for most of those 5 minutes, they gassed an equal number of gopher players who had to chase the puck or try and make something click. After the kill the Sioux seemed to carry play for a bit, and forced a penalty. Right with the script (taking the momentum from killing the major penalty). I had a feeling they might score (also following the script) but it wasn't to be. And then when Bina took the next penalty and MN scored I almost had to call for the paddles (defib).
  3. Will they respect him in the morning?
  4. I wonder why they are playing him 28 minutes a game if he's so bad?
  5. I thought the officials in the Sioux games this weekend did a pretty good job. Of course, it's easy to be complimentary in the MI game as the Sioux had a nice edge in PP opp's, but it seemed that they were deserved. I thought the UND/MN was well done.
  6. Puck Swami on USCHO said Dingle signed a pro contract and he expects Paukovich to sign soon.
  7. I agree, I thought they were both very complimentary to the Sioux. Woog looked shocked on TV, though.
  8. I think the reporter was asking where the hard hat was and Porter said he had to pass it on.
  9. Good words, as well my dislike of the Gophers is more due to certain fans than it has to do with the players or coaches.
  10. Listening to the post game press conferences this is something that stuck out for me, someone who didn't play the game. Sure, I know that winning the faceoff gives you instant puck possession, but what I hadn't considered were the ramifications of face-off dominance in other way, i.e. wearing the other team down. This was a very interesting facet for me. Good point, I didn't pick that up on the tape. I was only focusing on how the shot went in. End boards really were dangerous. Fooled both goalies at times.
  11. Michigan was a very very good team last night. If BC is in the same league it will be anybody's game again. I have too many bad memories of BC in NCAA games. Hopefully we can put that behind us.
  12. There's a few Gopher fans that I feel badly for, and Sagard is one of them. It was a great contest and both teams deserved to win, IMO. Sioux got it done this time. If these teams play 10 times they probably both win 5.
  13. I hope he watches the post game press conference with Hak and the boys.
  14. There's a GPL "Legend" (so called by some of his faithful followers) who said when Hak was hired "I think they could have done better". Too bad we settled. It's possible that Goligoski and Okposo's problems were the difference in the game tonite. It's hard to say. It was a great game played very well by both teams. Really, an epic battle. I'm so glad to read so many comments about other people who were emotionally wrung out by this game. I was hating the idea that I was feeling THAT old. This is almost the exact same way that Lamoureux let in Johnson's goal (first of the game last week, I believe), the difference being that Johnson was shooting from outside the point. Either way, both goalies wish they had closed up their legs.
  15. I had all the fixings for a Red Pepper ham grinder with taco meat over at a close buddy's place but I couldn't even work up an appetite for the first 2 periods. I finally choked down a small sammy at the start of the 3rd. I didn't sit for the rest of the game. Couldn't sit still. Wow, you're classic. I didn't want to like that call but after seeing the replay I had no problem with it.
  16. I've already posted some bile but what I prefer to post is along these lines. Can you think of 2 such evenly played contests between 2 teams in a short period of time in playoff situations? It's pretty clear these are 2 very evenly matched teams, in some respects very similar but each with some different strong points. Play again in a week and the Gophers would probably win the next one, etc. It could be that Goligoski's hand injury and Okposo being a little under the weather were the difference tonite. Whether it was or wasn't I'll take the result. Wow.
  17. Blah blah blah. How about 16,000 gopher fans bitching at Shepard last week when the goal was waived off. It's a freaking replay. Is he really going to screw up the call? And after watching it on tape myself, it was the right call. Lucky you didn't get a penalty for interfering with the goalie too. There was plenty of whining by gopher fans in that rink about officiating.
  18. This is for certain GPL'ers who like to lurk and/or post on this board. And yes, there are both types. How do you like our "french piece of crap" now? Funny all the vitriol spewed Lammy's way because of his supposed showboating. Let me tell you watching the numerous jersey tugs from your halos over the past year is just an extra layer of sugar on this win. Enjoy your golf clubs.
  19. Paper today mentioned that Goligoski hurt his hand taking a shot in practice Thursday. I didn't watch yesterday's game to see how he played, but it said they dressed 7 D yesterday because of that. Remembering how a broken thumb hindered Oshie the first half this has the potential to play a part tonite. Paper also said Okposo was "under the weather" yesterday yet played well. Lucia said he would have to rest up and regain his energy after his effort yesterday. Don't know if he'll still be sick today but it won't bother me if he's a half-step slow. I don't have a particularly good feeling about tonite's game but it should be a barn-burner. Hopefully a win for the good guys.
  20. Last week walking to the X for the championship game I remarked to SoDak Sioux Fan that I was wearing the same clothes as the day before: Me: I'm wearing the same clothes as yesterday....well, I changed my socks and underwear. SSF: Not me. I'm still wearing my underwear. I don't mess with a streak. Me:
  21. I just watched it on tape and after rewinding it a couple of times it looks like Chorney turned sideways and was taken into the boards that way. Probably a good non-call. On another note, many of us commented on the somewhat weak interference call to put MI down 2 men. In watching the tape it turns out that the penalty call came BEFORE Toews was knocked down as he skated through the crease. That's the replay they showed on TV of the penalty, but in reality the commentators had already said a penalty on MI had been called prior to when Toews was knocked down. The actual penalty took place off camera.
  22. I can't disagree with that. I was very impressed with MI last night, other than the stupid penalties. UND does deserve credit for playing the right way to give themselves a chance to come back and win, which they did. But had this remained a 5x5 game, it might have been "good night, Sioux". They did call Michigan for a high stick on Kozek after the whistle, and if I'm not mistaken that might have been the penalty where MI also got the interference call within seconds. But I might be wrong on that. The most eggregious non-call, IMO, was what looked like a CFB on MI. I gasped at the time and hoped Chorney (?) would be able to get up. I'll have to watch my tape, but it looked bad to me. That was in the 3rd.
  23. I think we got the right TJ playing for our team.
