  1. Sun of a gun. I knew it was too good to last. Dang AF got my hopes up for nothing.
  2. I hate this. I turned it on early in the 2nd and to my surprise AF is up 1-0. That causes me to think there's some hope. Now I check at end of 2 and AF is still up. Now I'm gutting out the 3rd only to likely have my hopes dashed.
  3. Thanks, Cheesemover. I'll keep my checking for updates. This would be excellent news!
  4. It's a good tournament for the lower seeds so far. Hope that bodes well for tonite.
  5. I'm with you. I don't have a feel for this game at all. Last weekend I felt confident going against SCSU, and not so good going against MN. Probably just coincidence, but I can't get a "gut" read on this one at all.
  6. I am kicking ass and taking names! All I need to do is scratch and claw my way above BigChief and NorthDakotaHockey and my tourney will be a success.
  7. I only watched a little of the game today but SCSU was horrid. I wonder if the Sioux are really that good or maybe SCSU is just THAT bad. Maybe their problem is one of 2 things: 1. They just peaked earlier in the year and never could get the edge back 2. It's really true that you cannot turn it on and off. They played the "meaningless" senior night game against UND and got spanked, and haven't looked like the Friday night team since.
  8. I don't know all the rules but if the kid initiates contact I don't think there's anything that prevents a coach from talking to a kid. A verbal agreement is non-binding and a kid (or coach) can back out of it at any time. I think most coaches would agree with you. I don't think they like having to make decisions on kids that young, it's just that if they don't someone else will, and then you might be out of luck on the next Toews/Kessel.
  9. iceberg, sorry about your bad day.
  10. Why is it so important to know who the donors are. Is the Forum concerned that the state is providing the funding? Otherwise, why does it really matter where the money is coming from? Do they think it's the Ku Klux Klan? What are they thinking they will find. Now that we know about the Engelstad Foundation, what's going to chap their (the Forum) hide next?
  11. He's talking the first goal. It was a 5 hole. Lammy just didn't have the holes all closed up.

I can't answer if it's unsportsmanlike but it's good parenting.
  13. I think part of the real problem is that, with other schools they've only needed approval from one tribe. We have that, yet the NCAA won't accept that because it was given in about 2000 (and the NCAA couldn't get them to change their mind. editorial comment).
  14. They may have understood Hunter's desires but this doesn't say that the coaches weren't upset. I don't know if they were or not, but Hunter left right when the team was short of players due to the World Junior tournament, etc. I believe they were shorthanded for a few games because of this. His leaving came at a bad time for the team. Doesn't make him a bad guy for leaving. And his reasons are understandable. But the coaches may not have been happy with the timing.
  15. How can we complain when the service has been so reliable all year? I hope all goes well with the water, PCM. Thanks, Siouxmama. Sounded like some interesting conversation. If anybody heard more about the Gwozdecky Rule I'd be all for reading more about it. Sounded informative.

I remember that. Talk about the shaft.
  17. That dream scenario would end in a Fighting Sioux victory.
  18. I expect to lost Toews and Oshie, and 1-2 D. There's no sane reason to expect Toews to return, and for Oshie it would seem so unlikely...If we could get one of them back it would be like winning the lottery, but why hope? However, my biggest worry is Duncan. Whether he wins the Hobey or not, he may never be in a better negotiating position than at the end of this year. He's undrafted, I believe, and that means there could be a bidding battle for him. It's not the guys who you expect to leave who hurt the worst. I, for one, will sweat out the summer.
  19. A friend who has watched even less hockey than I had this question for me after watching Saturday's game on TV. He said that the Sioux would often break into the Gopher zone right down the middle, but the Gophers would take the puck wide as they entered the Sioux zone. However, he thought in the 3rd period the Gophers would take it straight up the middle. His question to me was whether this was by design, and if so why? Naturally I could only guess at the answer. Did anyone else notice this?

You completely ignore possible reasons for his behavior given by me and others. Now, I admit I don't know for sure why he does what he does, but how can you know so much better than me? Why are the reasons I or PCM gave not valid? Let's hear what you have to say...
  21. For me, interesting stuff. Thanks.
