  1. Neon Deon Harris! Sweet runback.
  2. In the Twin Cities, CW Network is showing the game also (channel 8 for Comcast in the north suburbs). A pleasant surprise.
  3. On the issue of east-west "balance of power", the Atlantic Hockey increases scholarships to maximum 18 allowed: http://atlantichockeyonline.com/news/2016/9/7/MHOCKEY_0907163448.aspx This will most likely impact Hockey East and ECAC, if only a little, as guys who might have otherwise taken a 75%-ride at a BC/BU/New Hampshire will more likely have a full ride at Atlantic Hockey on the table to consider.
  4. Yeah, and now that I think about it, most of this year's nonconference has been set up for a while now. (doh)
  5. Agree with most, especially the bolded portion. The next time the Big Easy pulls a fast one on the rest of college hockey, at least Arizona State via Pac-12 has a seat at the P5 table. If it was me, I would have told Arizona State that the NCHC agrees to a scheduling agreement for the next 2 years. Each NCHC to play 2 nonconference games vs. ASU. Gives us a foot in the door. Gives them time to get their arena done.
  6. Schlossman, as he usually does, hits it out of the park. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4103211-brad-schlossman-unds-athletics-committee-problematic
  7. We can talk about this, and its fun, but what will get Bresciani to resign is a critical mass of large donors expressing their displeasure. Whoever you are, the ball is in your court.
  8. One small tweak ...
  9. Which, thanks to Big Ten gametime scheduling, means we won't miss UND games.
  10. And its so embarrassing when they don't.
  11. There's always that little thing about classes and grades...
  12. That might be the holdup on announcing Arizona State (that has been rumored / half-announced for a while).
  13. I saw several MSU Mankato games last year. They have definitely changed since the Jutting years. Higher tempo, faster defensemen. They haven't gotten first-round draft choices, but there is a lot more talent than in previous years. Their incoming class is on par with the NCHC rookies.
  14. The central question I have is whether : (a) the NCHC has decided to admit MSU Mankato provided all the paperwork in order, or (b) the NCHC is still information-gathering and due to some astute journalism by Brad Schlossman their application became public earlier than desired (note MSU's president requests that NCHC's Fenton keep it confidential). Seems to me that this is (b) and the NCHC hasn't yet decided to take MSU. But I'm interested in what other people think.

  16. Happy Canada Day indeed! I'm happy that Chicago got Brian Campbell back for just $2 million. And happy the Wild got some help upfront with Staal and Stewart.
  17. Land of 10,000 Excuses. My first visit was 1979. I had never been called a Communist before, and certainly not as many more colorful adjectives. Thankfully my posse included a couple guys who could serve as bona fide bodyguards. So it was just talk. The best part was winning the WCHA title on Saturday night - punctuated by Dave Christian's slapshot empty-netter - breaking a 12 year drought.
  18. http://www.collegehockeynews.com/stats/ UND: 21.8 (according to that particular website).
  19. Would you settle for a career like David Backes?
  20. A bargain at that. I think he's a potential Selke award winner.
  21. The influence of Lou Lamiorello ...
  22. His family seems like the kind of people that will fit right into the UND hockey family. https://www.nhl.com/news/family-is-overwhelmed-as-tyson-jost-gets-drafted-at-no-10/c-281050278?tid=277764372
  23. No Badger first-rounders since 2008. Then Wisconsin changes coaches and has two. Hmmm.
  24. Now UMD bags their 3rd-ever first rounder. (Riley Tufte, Mr Hockey MN this year.) Pretty good night for the NCHC. Assuming, that is, that the clubs that picked guys give them time to develop in college.
  25. As long as its draft night, a nice historical view: http://collegehockeyinc.com/pages/first-round-nhl-draft-picks Most surprising to me is that DU has only 3 first round draft picks. I'd have expected a lot more. Second most surprising is that SCSU has none. But that might change tonight.
