  1. George Parros is running it now.
  2. The guy from SI has a point. https://www.si.com/hockey/news/why-does-the-nhl-keep-enabling-tom-wilson Depends on how many times you've been suspended. Progressively increasing ... except in this case its less than half of his last suspension.
  3. They are off balanced, but the NCAA has asked the Selection Committee to reduce flights. So normally the #1 seed gets the #16 seed. This year, I think they settle for "band level" seeding (#1-#4 play #13-#16) in order to minimize travel. Yeah I think we're getting four Western teams in the Fargo regional. I found the interview with Mike Kemp informative: https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2021/02/19_QA-With--NCAA-Committee.php
  4. I would like a change to the answer to the question: "Who scored the most recent game winning goal in NCAA Tournament play for UND?"
  5. Thanks for the flashback. This one brings back vivid memories, to be sure. Coming right after the horrible injury to Robbie Bina at the WCHA FF, I remain impressed, and amazed all these years later at the character and focus the UND guys displayed, through that 3rd place win over Minnesota, the Beanpot regional, and both games of the Frozen Four. They did themselves proud, and certainly made me even prouder to wear a jersey to the games. I still feel like the ESPN announcers overplayed the big bad UND vs small fast MN ... there really wasn't that much difference in size, and our guys were just as fast as they were. I kept expecting a Minnesota comeback, and was surprised they gave us nothing through two periods. Almost as surprised as UND only getting 2 goals when it could have been 6 or 7. P.S. I miss when body checking was allowed in college hockey.
  6. I can see why UNO has their undies in a bundle ... we have won 9 games at their rink this season. That compares to 6 wins at the Ralph.
  7. Congratulations to MSU Mankato for winning the Macnaughton Cup for the 4th consecutive season.
  8. Good one, but I’m not falling for the trick question. Neither of Denver’s fans has a job.
  9. Oh rats. Just when this were going so well. Then THIS has to happen: https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2021/02/23_Team-of-the-Week-North-Dakota.php Of course it happens to a lot of teams the week after they play Omaha!
  10. Scheduling mistake to play four games in a row vs same opponent.
  11. Yeah his GAA skyrockets to 1.03. And his save percentage plummets to .947.
  12. During which time UND hockey has won 10 regular season conference titles. That's not a mis-print: 10.
  13. I'm sure UM-Duluth would be happy to return there.
  14. MSU played the first 104 minutes of the weekend before giving UAH a powerplay. Nice.
  15. We were as airtight as possible against a pretty good Denver team. Proof of point: Denver with zero SOG in the last 12 minutes of the third period. They went almost 6 minutes without possessing the puck in their offensive zone; our neutral zone play either forced a turnover or a dump-in that we got to first. Excellent display of team defense on our part.
  16. Denver got away with a major cross check to the head.
  17. SOG 46-10. Faceoffs 34-20. Looks like a game where Mankato had the puck all night long.
  18. https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2021/02/09/lamoureux-twins-retirement-from-hockey-passes-the-torch-to-next-generation/
  19. I think 2013 may have been the only time. They are unbeaten in the first round since 2017. (3-0) Of course, they have St Cloud to thank for most of that.
  20. To the discussion above about the 16 teams in the field, I can't see a scenario where there's only 6 Eastern teams in the field and 10 Western. Hockey East in all probability gets at least 3 and probably 4. If there's 4, I hope it comes at the expense of the 4-team ECAC, and not from NCHC or WCHA teams. Two for Atlantic Hockey seems probable, and their entrants have been more than credible historically.
  21. In a year without the objectively determined rankings to select NCAA tournament entrants, it comes back to subjective determinations by the NCAA D-1 Men's Ice Hockey Committee. Mike Kemp, Omaha associate athletic director (chair) Michael Cross, Penn State assistant athletic director Bob Daniels, Ferris State coach Mike Schafer, Cornell coach Derek Schooley, Robert Morris coach Jeffrey L. Schulman, Vermont athletic director
  22. Three games for that hit seems about right. http://www.wcha.com/men/articles/2021/02/wcha-announces-three-game-suspension-for-bowling-greens-will-cullen.php
  23. The best part of this broadcast is the Blank screen during commercial breaks.
  24. All their guys came back tired from the World Juniors. (That is the perennial excuse for January, I believe.)
  25. He also coached at UND.
