  1. https://www.bbc.com/news/health-52754280 Sorry if this has already been posted - I hadn't seen discussion of Interleukin 7 being used with success / correlated with successful outcomes / before.
  2. That was a memorable weekend indeed. The first WCHA Final Five in the brand new Excel Center. I had never been in an arena that nice, and wouldn't get to one better for about oh 7 months when the new Ralph opened. During the Friday afternoon semifinal win over CC, Karl Goehring did a header on a floating puck. And on Saturday night with about 6 minutes left on the clock and UND way down, my very confident 8 year old daughter said "I think we will win. We have Panzer." And yeah she thought the goalie was pushed too. Mad about that for a couple days.
  3. Time to build a wall around China. For as long as the CCP is in charge, the rest of us are in danger.
  4. Also pleased that neither study (NIAID or the China one) called out side effects. The combination of some benefits in quality of life (patients and overburdened staff) plus cost savings in critical care seems to make this one an easy call for acceleration / EUA. PS. Let the combination therapy studies begin.
  5. Among thousands of deaths, this one stands out. Rest In Peace. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-52451094
  6. In one Massachusetts city, about one-third of randomly tested people tested posiive for Coronavirus antibodies. In a city with a 2% reported case rate, that's 16-1 ratio. Many cautions apply of course: the test hasn't been FDA approved (but it was good enough for Mass General); these were people out-and-about, it sounds like (strictly sheltering in place population is probably lower prevalance, etc). https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/04/17/business/nearly-third-200-blood-samples-taken-chelsea-show-exposure-coronavirus/
  7. MVP of West Regional. Not sure if other 17 year olds have ever done that.

  9. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.08.20057794v1.full.pdf+html A NYC area study where obesity (BMI>40) is taken into account.
  10. During any pandemic its important to stay hydrated.
  11. Here's a quick history page with each year's top ten: https://www.uscho.com/faq/hobey/ I was going to say something similar to Wilbur: Bonin and Leopold. (But you could make the case for Steve Ulseth in 1981 too. Or Aaron Broten. Both had a ridiculous year.) In 1996, I would have favored Jay Pandolfo (BU) Brendan Morrison (ugh, Michigan) or Martin St Louis (Vermont). In 2002, both Mark Hartigan (who brought St Cloud up from nowheresville to second in the WCHA) and Ryan Miller (who had another awesome season in an era of higher goal scoring than today).
  12. I can see Cole Smith having a career similar to Chris Porter. Smith is always in shape, has always been strong on his skates but got more agile during his UND career, One of those guys whose heart will carry him a long way.
  13. Yeah me too. The Committee has a history of gifting awards to UMD and UM ...
  14. True, but he did get 27 games in the NHL. That's 14 games more than Chris Marinucci, and 27 games more than Jack Connolly did. (2012 winner, another award gifted to UMD.)
  15. "I heard people were testing 5G on their teenage turtles to see if they could get them to mutate."
  16. I think we should each get our own pod. And we all get intubated respirators with clean air, and fed intravenously with safe and nutritious stuff. And since that is boring, we would all need an artificial reality connection directly into our nervous system.
  17. And in the second game, North Dakota with 9 freshmen has little chance against an experienced Michigan squad.
  18. Update: NCAA Hockey Facebook page is streaming the 2006 Holy Cross vs Minnesota regional semifinal. Started at 7pm cdt.
  19. Well, they've been hit by a lot: First, there was a bad case of Armbrust Virus. Then three cases of Blake & Panzeritis, and at the same time Gorenmonia with Goehring fever. Followed quickly by Parise envy. Then multiple rounds of the DOT line, and they said "don't Toews me, bro". They got "frozen" in AaronDell, we gave 'em the full Nelson, and they could hardly spell "CBS" line. Then wave after wave until ... All that's left is twenty fans, probably new, and mostly related to current players, or dating them. Sioux Forever.
  20. No opinion on the effectiveness or feasibility, just passing along. http://www.kmaland.com/news/nebraska-medicine-using-uv-light-to-disinfect-masks-for-reuse/article_ecd5c022-6c6b-11ea-8349-ffffe38edb37.html
  21. Here's a positive from 2011. Just before the Final Five title game. A relatively quiet arena turned raucous very quickly, thanks to some magic from Evan Trupp.
  22. In a related story, researchers heard groups of viruses singing "Copacabana". There's no cure for Barry Manilow.
  23. "I sing this song for the common man For the people in despair"
