Mel's at the game wearing a Zombo Blues jersey?

Getting warmed up for UND hockey by watching Quinnipiac 1-0 at BC early in the first. Q could just as well have 3 on the board already. Game on ESPN Plus.

More room for the scouts to sit?

ESPN plus carrying a feed of Providence 0-2 Quinnipiac. mid 2nd period. Exhibition game, so results taken with a grain of salt.

2022-23 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Dylan St Cyr transferring makes sense (playing time squeezed by the younger all-star). Maybe the same thing with Smilanic (more playing time on the top 6 / PP at Wisconsin than at QU)? I still think Perets/QU defense is overrated. In four games vs Western teams last season (UND, ASU, St Cloud, Michigan), his save percentage was .862 and GAA of 3.47. Yeah, all those shutouts against teams in the bottom third of Pairwise pad the stats, but ... I guess we shall see in two weeks if I'm right. -
Well … we beat MO St by more than Arkansas did, so obviously we are ready to win the SEC.

Happy that our schedule gives the rookies and new goalie another week of medium-difficulty opponents before they get hit with the top teams in the country. -
Speaking of screwing the pooch.

October 1st North Dakota vs. Manitoba Exhibition Opener

Obvious follow up question is which forward plays D if we need another guy back there... -
Two missed FG by MO St kinda offsets that. I was wondering how much those misses affected their team morale and intensity.
-
We're still early in Q3 and UND has 410 yards of total offense ....
-
21-20 halftime. Got the FG. And a little Momentum going into the 3rd Q.
-
Come on offense. Give the D enough time to get their pads on tight.

Hmmm.... not to understate the seriousness of the problem, but if it really is as severe at the tweet sounds, wouldn't they have sent this out with say six months notice to recruit drivers? Getting a Bus License seems like it takes more than "a few days". (Maybe they did and I just missed it.)

Fair point. Even so, it's a minority of posts and posters that are seeking a change. (These posts are generally well reasoned and thoughtful.) Many others are seeing increased and consistent success as requiring broader change than coaching. I agree with those, generally. (One contrary argument I might say is that winning conference titles in two of the past six seasons is not too bad for a program making transition to a new conference, closer to our natural recruiting footprint.) I think finishing the high performance center is one important aid to recruiting, conditioning, and training. And I would hope the Athletic Department is looking top-to-bottom at all aspects of gameday experience, promotion, and revenue aids to help fund the many things which need funding.

Wow! UND loses its first game to an FCS opponent this season and a thread discussing football coaching staff gets almost 200 new posts. Most schools would kill for that kind of passion in their fan base.

Well ... those are two sentences you don't normally see side-by-side. (But yes, I thought she was fine during her days at SCSU. Expecting great things now that she's a professional.)

I expect we will hang one during the Manitoba exhibition game. Three NCHC in a row is quite the accomplishment. The “next man up” part of UND hockey culture served them well last year. I hope this year our best guys stay healthy. -
I'm hoping they were just on the turf for a minute to get everyone some oxygen.

If you just look at team statistics, you'd be thinking NAU wins by 10+ points. Yards gained: 448-318. First downs 28-19. NAU will be thinking "what if" for a day or two: two missed field goals, a pick 6 conceded, and a flea flicker in the final minute. UND will be thinking, I hope, we're happy to win but there's more work to improve.

All three UND touchdown plays are candidates for a Top 10 Play of the Day, so you might get a second chance at viewing. Very exciting that our best players made a lot of big plays today.
