  1. Apparently, the recruiting landscape has changed. Danny Mattson is another recent signing from the Twin Cities High Schools (Gleeson/Fienaghe/Fink), with Kristo playing one year at EP before heading to NTDP. UND has always been known to recruit heavily in Western Canada, Manitoba and NW Minn (I'm not including the USHL because players are now usually commiting before the go to the USHL). In recent years the recruiting "base" has expanded to include SSM and NTDP. With more and more recruits coming from the TC (high end players, not role players) this puts the squeeze on the U of M. Usually they get whatever metro kid they want by default. The Don will have to work harder to keep metro players in town, which is good for us.
  2. Pocahontas or Sacagawea???
  3. Ditto - the tourny only exists to make money - in the old days they just continued the 2 game playoffs series at the high seed. Also - it is good for us the Gophs play Fri night / shorter turn around for them for the Sat game. It is the best college tournament in the country, at one of the best arenas in the world. Keep it there.
  4. Of course Red Wing would be anti-hunter - for self preservation
  5. 1 UND - best F's/best D = MCup 2 UW - best recruiting class/they just reload with goalies 3 MN - with their D problems, look for the trap at the Maroosh 4 CC - will be solid, not flashy 5 UMD - will surprise 6 DU - Gwoz needs to go 7 MTU - overrated 8 SCSU - the end of year slide will continue this year 9 UAA - bad 10 MSU - worse
  6. As I've stated before, we really need the "other" Jr's to step up this year and be ready for leadership positions next year, Kozek/Watkins/Miller especially. Re: Gophers D - they lost over 100 points on the blueline even before the OBrien departure. That hurts. If they don't have a threat from the point on the PP, teams will take away the one threat they do have, KO. I think Chorney/Lee were much more talented than the frosh D the Gophers are bringing in. There are two ways this could play out for Gopher fans. 1. Frazee - get ready for lots of rubber 2. Here comes the trap!!!
  7. http://wchablog.blogspot.com/2007/08/obrie...nnesota_13.html Similar talk on GPL
  8. What we really need is the rest of the 05 class to step up this year, especially the forwards (Watkins/Miller/Kozek). We need more goals now that JT and CP are gone.
  9. DT was in the bag long before he announced his signing.
  10. Much better than 06 and 07.
  11. Who compared him to Pronger?
  12. Watching both of them play, I could see Corey equalling the offensive talent of David Fischer, but much bigger/tougher/meaner. He has played well at USA camps he has been to. He will just need to get used to the pace of the game at UND vs. high school.
  13. Are we full at D for 09? A birdie told me a D was close to commiting.
  14. Gwoz's act might be getting a little old -like a snake oil salesman.
  15. Did you see Finhage play?
  16. And if they don't, they are bums and losers - right?
  17. I would rather have Oshie/Duncan vs Wheeler/Okposo. However, I would take the Gopher freshman F in a heartbeat.
  18. Scott and Conway Marvin are brothers. David is a cousin.
  19. Who's on the blueline for their PP? Last year the #1 NHL draft pick was on the 2nd PP group - this year will be quite a drop off.
  20. He scored the winning goal in the 2004 Frozen 4 semis vs BC and was on the F4 all tourny team http://www.uscho.com/box/?date=20040408&am...bc&gender=m
  21. And on the ice alot.
  22. They also lose alot of offense from the blueline - Vanelli/Johnson/Goligoski accounted for over 100 points last year - where are they coming from this year?
  23. Stop -- Genoway will play D. Period. And they don't need any more for 07.
  24. What about Walters?
