He's mdway thru his Jr. year - he better hurry.

I don't get Miller with Osh and Duncan. With Osh in the middle he will be the playmaker - Miller is not the finisher needed with that line. He was setup several times and did not cash in. He was very ordinary tonight.

Lucky play by Wheeler.

This is good for the NHL - it's good when the young talent stays with one team for a while and tries to help establish an identity with a team. Towes/Kane have already done that in Chicago. Let's hope they can surround AO with some more talent in Washington.

Finehage will be here next year. Count on it. We could use his size this year.
-
Great article - RK is a great example what Fighting Sioux hockey is all about. I have noticed improvement in his offense this year - good puck movement, dangling around a few Dman. Good luck to Rylan.

Do we know Forney isn't healthy, or just unworthy?

According to Cardinal, if a player doesn't go to UMTC, it's because they don't have room for him. I can't believe they didn't want/recruit Jake Gardiner. Are you still trolling Cardinal?

53. Nick Larson-Waterloo Blackhawks, Uncommitted If we want to add size/grit, he would be a great addition.

Sounds like double secret probation to me

USA hockey is too political right now to do the right thing re: World Jr's. The current selection process is more for NHL CSS than choosing a team. You'd be surprise how little influence the coaches have on the team selection. I heard Peter McGuire during the tournament talk from time to time about Team Canada and how this player was on the team to win face offs, and that player was on the team to shut down the other team's top line, etc. My solution Hire someone like Herb Brooks/Dean Blais for at least 3 years - give him responsiblity of GM and Coach. Let him come up with the selection process he wants, the staff he wants and let him pick the players he wants. This tournament should be USAHockey's top priority - real success would help promote the sport in this country, which would also help showcase college hockey, where most of the team is selected from.

This site also has links to CSTV, so you should also be able to see the Fri UND/SCSU game here as well.

Here's a great site to look at old NHL uni's. http://www.nhluniforms.com/ Pitts original colors were blue and white, but the Penguin/triangle logo didn't appear on the sweater untill their second season, 68-69.

There's nothing wrong with putting your 3 best forwards on a line together. I've been impressed with the offense Kaip has brought this year, along with his grit and physical play. It's time to face the facts. Look who we have lost over the past 2 years at forward: Stafford, TZajac, Toews, Spirko, Porter. Now its time for the rest of the forwards to step up and take their place.

FYI - Volcan played 1 year, Murray 2, Chorney 3

Has anyone seen this??? Kyle Okposo to sign with Islanders and this The National Hockey League has suspended New York Islanders forward Chris Simon for 30 games for stepping on Pittsburgh's Jarkko Ruutu last weekend.
-
Another team to watch is Wisconsin - they are hosting the MW regional this year. Right now they are outside looking in. If they make a F5 run and get an autobid, things could get interesting.
-
Kaip was our best center last weekend (ignore the scoresheet from Sat.). Maybe they should try K between O and D.

Here's what I sent to the sportwriter this morning - I haven't received a reply "The Gophers have not played at Ralph Engelstad Arena -- home of the Sioux -- since sweeping a series there in December of 2005. This will be a new experience for the Gophers' 13 freshmen and sophomores." I know most Gopher fans have tried hard to forget the Regional loss to Holy Cross at REA in 2006, but I didn't think that the Gopher beat reporter would forget it. Maybe this will jog your memory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnRfpcc3LZA Thanks Roman.

We are always physical, no matter who we play. I do think that because of our team speed, and the Gophers problems on the blueline, it will be UMN that will try to slow the game down. If the Gophers give up too many odd man rushes this weekend, they will have no chance.

Malone is a Freshman who has had some injuries. I would cut him some slack. No slack for Miller, though.
-
I also thought I heard him say that the Gophers might have to resort to a "left wing lock" on the forecheck. First a LWLock - a Trap can't be too far behind. With their D and our team speed, it might be the only way they can stay in the game. Mike Eaves would be proud.

Who sits - Jones or Marto?

You should tell Coach Lucia to ask Dave Hakstol for the "World Junior Vaccine" that prevents a 2nd half slump when players return from the WJT - it has worked fabulously for Oshie, Toews, Chorney, Lee the past few years. TDon might want to give it a try.
