  1. I talked to a scout who's seen McWilliam and Fienhage play and he said Fienhage>McWilliam. He also said Garrett Clarke is the real deal and McWilliam's D partner is a stud.
  2. OSHIE!!
  3. Gopher fans: It could have been worse - Hak could have left some cash for one of the players in a hat. Get over it. Move on.
  4. Irony - if he is suspended, "Bird" will take his place.
  5. Our winning streak goes to 8 over teams at the bottom of the WCHA I wonder if the FSN crew will diss our victory tomorrow, saying it came against a weak opponent
  6. Regarding our forwards, we are thinner than year's past - would you like the following on this squad? Stafford TZajac Toews Porter Spirko All of these forwards were on the squad when we won the F5 2 seasons ago and lost in the Frozen4 at Millwaukee. We haven't really restocked - only VV has been a point producer - Trupp is getting there. However, the rest of the league/country is thin at F this year. We may not have as much NHL/pro talent but it may not matter this year - no one does. We may have more balance this year, which could be our advantage in March/April. I would argue we have the best all-round F in the country (Oshie), the best 1-4 D corp in the country, and a top 5 goalie.
  7. I would like our chances against any of these teams, including the Badgers, at Kohls big ice surface. Wisco did not look any better this weekend than they did when we played them earlier this year.
  8. It didn't hurt Oshie or Niskanen to play HS hockey. There are other examples as well. It not where you play - it's what you put into it.
  9. Is this TDon???
  10. I'll take him over anyone wearing an M on his jersey this weekend.
  11. Some say he is having an off-year. Last I checked he was leading the league in points for D.
  12. I know - consider the source - still interesting given the topic/thread: Okposo showing he belongs in the pro ranks
  13. I heard on the radio last night an interview with Mike Babcock - coach of the Detroit RW. The topic was lack of scoring in NHL and he mentioned that due to extensive video work they do, there are no surprises and are very prepared for each team they face. A WCHA coach mentioned the same thing to me regarding specialty teams - everyone has video of each teams pp/pk. I also think the level of coaching has gone up in the league. I think Jutting is probably the worst, but after that you have to admit the rest of the WCHA teams are pretty well coached.
  14. I can't wait to see Jason Moy's/USCHO bracketology this week. 5 WCHA teams are in the top 14 in the PWR, including Wisco, which is hosting the MW regional. Actually, the way the season is going, getting sent to a big sheet like CC or Wisco would be good for the Sioux.
  15. Friday was OK, Sat not. Even so, this blew me away USCHO game report from PCM: In his post-game comments, Shyiak also criticized Anderson for not calling more penalties on the Sioux, although he admitted that it might have worked to the Seawolves
  16. Good pickup. It looks to me they are done with D for 08 and 09. 3 will probably leave this year and Blood, McW and Finehage could come in 08 with Gleason spending a year at Jr. Jones is the only departure for next year (unless you think Genoway is a flight risk) and Gleason would come in his spot. Finehage and Gleason are too good to stash for more than one year.
  17. OK - give us some details on the benefits of UAA in the WCHA.
  18. We could use instant replay
  19. Don't be surprised if the X hosts a regional in 2010, one year before they host the F4.
  20. One way would be is if CC and Denver finish 4/5 in the PWR - that puts them in the same bracket (without any switching to avoid inter-conf 1st round games).
  21. I agreee!!! http://forum.siouxsports.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=307732
  22. The guys in the USHL, especially the good ones, are striving to move up and make it a career - much like some of the WCHA players. The officials in the WCHA are older, have more experience, but not good enough to make it to the AHL/NHL. I would rather have young, talented officials in my league versus older, "experienced" cast-offs.
  23. Obviously we could face them in a 3 v 8 or 2 v 9 1st round playoff series. I have a hunch they will finish higher than 8 - if they don't it means they will have struggled in Jan/Feb, which wouldn't be all bad. A more likely scenario now is that they finish in the 4-5-6 range and we finish 2-3. If this is the case we couldn't play them until Final5 Saturday, hopefully in the evening not the afternoon (unless their is a huge 1st round upset in Denver or CC).
  24. Ditto - if this would play out it's likely we would be in Worcester.
  25. ... and Comcast
