  1. While I understand your points, I couldn't disagree more. If we just give up, I can guarantee you that the matter would not simply be "behind us." As one poster (I think Chief Illiniwek Supporter) correctly points out, the PC idiot brigade will not stop with the name change. There will only be preparation on how to deal with the next whimsical "outrage" tendered by the PC'ers and their allies. This matter should never have been started by the NC00 and the PC'ers conveniently and purposefully forget that they, a minority of a minority, and the NC00 started the whole process to begin with. It is the height of irony and hypocrisy for them to say that we the persecuted should simply put the matter "behind us" by caving in to their ridiculous and baseless claims. The NC00 and the PC brigade can put the matter behind them by dropping an idiotic policy and by actually allowing a member vote on it. At the heart of all of it is control and an animus of inflicting "payback" for "wrongs" committed centuries ago and for which no one during the last 90 to 100 years has been responsible. It's simple low-core aggressive behavior. The PC clowns bring up "progressive" insights, accuse everyone who disagrees with them "racists," pay a few people or give a few students extra credit to "protest" and they get what they want. It's pretty simple really. UND and its alumni and the State of ND do not wish to be subjected to such control tactics. The PC brigade is not used to being opposed which is why we are seeing the even more shrill hue and cry of rapant "racism" and "injury to institutional reputation." Opposing this madness is absolutely necessary and the more the PCers cry about these things the more firm everyone's resolve should become. If other schools refuse to play UND (and such schools are a distinct minority), so be it; you simply schedule schools (in the sizeable majority) who will. Money dictates even the PC loons so U of M may not be too quick to enforce their noble, cogent and well-discerned policy once the multitude of Minnesota UND alumni voice their displeasure. We are already seeing this. As far as NA support, the only scientific poll shows that a very sizeable majority either don't care or support the use of indian imagery. In the end, NA support is nice but the schools that use imagery have legal rights to the same. NA support is not necessary at all. The lunacy of the NC00 and its PC allies is nothing more than the twisted manifestation of collective boredom of a bunch of creatively-atrophied, intellectually numbed and emotionally half-baked hippies.
  2. Thank God someone has a pair. Let's hope a Judge overturns the B.S. decision of the Board of Trustees. I can't believe that the Board of Trustees was so spineless to begin with. Where does all the mularky end? Now, the PC nut jobs are going after "offensive" t-shirts? In Washington State, the high school sporting league is actually contemplating the banning of booing? These lame brains should experience true offensiveness, in my opinion. If UND is forced to change the name, I hope they will change it to the "Fighting Cavalry," like one Sioux fan has expressed, and I hope they play "Gary Owen" before and during every sporting event.
  3. PA and Dubay are idiots. Their show is annoying. "PUFFY!!!!!" "Rube Nation." "Love Covenant." PA is especially annoying in his speaking mannerisms and the stuff he says. I wish that the Vikings would find someone else to do their games. They were in Mankato a couple of years ago and really insulted the team and the whole town. They both hate the Sioux and their egos are pretty huge.
  4. I'd like to get more info on rosters, scores for individual games for the Sioux teams for years 1991 to 1996. USCHO does not go back that far. Is there any site that would give me this information? I am not talking about records or anything like that. Just rosters, games played and scores/dates, and scoring/penalty minute stats. Thanks.
  5. Wierd. Tax dollars should be spent for new "gender neutral" bathrooms because .000002% of the population feels self-conscious about how to pee? Makes complete sense to me and it should to you too, otherwise I'll be offended.
  6. When the NC00, in its wisdom, determines that Central Michigan is hostile and abusive, then UI won't play them. When the NC00 determines it does not like that university anymore, UofI will stop playing it and adhere to the cogent, thought-provoking and well-discerned "policy." The UofI has a pink locker room, as everyone knows, for the visiting football team but that is ok and not "hostile and abusive." It's no big deal to me or to any reasonable person and I don't care if it's pink or white with padding on the walls but for the hyper-vigilant PC do-gooders it should be a blatant insult to homosexuals and women. Oops, I forgot. According to PC logic/mandates, "women" is supposed to be "womyn" now. Oh, now it all makes sense to me. I guess I am pretty thick after all.
  7. Good luck now getting that passed with all of the Dems in control. The PC loons have more clout with them. The bill should be presented to a vote. It would be interesting to see how the ND 3 stooges would vote. I'm sure those weenies would vote with the PC asylum.
  8. I think it's clear that there is not settlement potential on this issue. The U wants to keep the name and logo and the NC00 wants both gone; it's that simple and it's not going to change. The NC00 has exhibited no reasonableness at all and that is not going to change because of the PC mentality. While I appreciate the Judge's sentiments, he should not overdo it. I don't think the U is going to agree to a "phased out" use of the nickname and logo over a number of years, if that's even a consideration. Perhaps some sort of "sensitivity" courses mandated at the U? Judges have too much concern over clearing their calendars. "Settlement" is often suggested where it's not appropriate and I think this is one of those cases.
  9. How did the hearing "seem" to go?? Did he ask one side a lot more questions than the other? I would have loved to have been there. Were there any "protest" minded knobs outside of the courthouse?
  10. I agree pretty much. While the "binding precedent" would extend only to the RR Valley, it would look bad pubicity-wise for the NC00 and it would give some confidence to other schools that have severe cases of wussitis. With the Dems in control the NC00 may not be as worried about Congressional oversight because a lot of the Dems are PC hacks too. Our Representative, Tim Walz, is one of the Earl Pomeroy ilk. It sure would be nice to see Congress delve into this aggressively though. With Dick Durbin and Obama, Illinois was hosed from the get go as is North Dakota.
  11. No settlement. Period. Let's say all of this is true. The NCAA slimes out of the fight only to persecute another day? That does not sound palatable at all to me. If the NCAA does relent, I say push even harder and get binding precedent. The PC elites are like so many cockroaches and they will come back. Now that we've mustered the machinery to fight them, fight them all the way. Like I've said before, the next time we might have weenies in the AG Office and the State Board of Higher Education. The kind of exposure through the public documents that the NC00 seeks to prohibit is probably just the sort of thing to break this whole matter into the public forum after which a lot of people may be up in arms and hopefully do something.
  12. Yes, it is politically correct and even laudable to poke fun at someone about their religious beliefs, especially if the beliefs are strict. No one should be offended by that though. Pretty twisted. I do not consider myself a conspiracy-minded type but academia does seem to be thoroughly infested with these PC types. Notice how the school uses an unrelated tragedy to justify itself.
  13. I am sure Williston would have no problem with it. They were going to DL and DL was going out there. This is the same with Bottineau, although it is a little closer. Williston to Bismarck is no short haul either. I think they have to go to Minot and then up to Bismarck or they go South to Belfield and over on I-94. Either way, it's not too much different. Perhaps there would be another 60 miles or so to GF/Grafton but that is it. That said, Minot and Bismarck did compete well with the East some years ago -- late 80's early 90's -- in the post-season and the same divisions were standing back then. I really think that playing most of the nascent programs - Dickinson, Mandan, Hazen-Beulah - twice each year is a bad thing for the west hockey generally. To be fair, if there was a North/South division, two of those programs would be in the South and two in the North (Williston and Hazen-Beulah).
  14. Good work DL! Minot has historically beaten up on DL but this year was different. I still think that the best option is to make a North/South division rather than an East/West one. I do think that such an arrangement would best help the west come up to the level of the east. The better the teams one plays and the more often they are played, the better the program will become. It isn't the "be all and end all" but it would be a start. Those who are truly concerned about the development of ND hockey would support it. I surmise that the east would not which is typical as per the provincial and myopic mindset there.
  15. I have no doubt that the admin weenies will capitulate and retire it, unless the proceeds benefit only the whining groups and perhaps prop up a casino or two. Asinine.
  16. Actually, I believe that they were known as the "savages." Their nickname now is stupid. What in the hell is a BlueHawk? Are teams going to have all of these fictitious names that one like Brand would have thought up during one of many an acid trip in the late 60's early 70's? BlueHawk, RedHawk, BrownHawk, GreenHawk, YellowHawk, etc. The "whole thing" never had to be addressed but the NC00 stuck its nose in where it did not belong. What you should be sick of is the conduct of the NC00 rather than UND's right, or the right of any autonomous university, to fight against such overt and overbearing racism. Any publicity is good for UND as the masses agree with it. The only "negative" publicity is in the yellowed fish wraps spewed forth by the PC groups. The PC loons are not used to being opposed. Then, when they are opposed they complain that those whom they are victimizing should just go away or some other such nonsense. I for one hope that UND has the common sense to take the matter to trial, get a positive verdict and proceed with solid legal precedent. As to the NC00, it needs to be broken up by the government into smaller athletic organizations.
  17. It is a good and equitable plan, indeed. The east has been too used to its primarily I-29 corridor schedule yet those teams have no problem traveling 3 hours to Warroad and 6 hours to Rochester do they? The west has been travelling 3 to 4 hours for games for 40 years at least. Wahpeton to DL is what the east is doing right now which is not any different than doing Fargo to Dickinson. If travel is such a concern for the east when it comes to Williston, make it a 4 point game or do like the west has done when its teams have played West Fargo and then Fargo South or GRand Forks and GRafton......schedule the games one day after another and stay in a motel. It's all 4-lane highway (or at least will be soon to Williston) so the east will not be able to bitch about that. God forbid the east teams traveling more than 2.5 hours to a game. God forbid! I guess they don't teach state geography in the east or wherever you're from or how to calculate mileage and read mileage signs. Just more fodder for the reality that much of the east is composed of a bunch of self-absorbed, self-righteous, self-indulgent knobs.
  18. There really should be a North/South division rather than an East/West division, if anyone with authority were serious about improving the state of ND hockey. The fact is that there are a lot of nascent programs in the west, with Hazen/Beulah, Dickinson, Mandan, Williston. They used to do North/South for the shrine games in football, hockey, etc. There are really only a couple of good teams in the west: Minot, Bismarck, Jamestown, Williston (at least this year), Century (sometimes). I've always said that the east is never going to want to do this, even though it should. I know Samson always wanted something like that. I think the west should be able to play more games against Canadian schools. I have not lived in Minot for 21 years but, from what I've heard, it seems as though a lot of the old hockey player types are involved in the youth programs. Hockey used to be a popular sport in Minot among young kids and maybe it is not so popular anymore among young kids. I don't think the antics of Kraft help at all. Minot really should open up the hockey to other nearby towns like Surrey, Des Lacs, Sawyer. Even when I was in school some of those towns actually had pretty good athletes who played basketcase ball because they could not play hockey. I'm surprised that more base kids do not play. Minot and the west generally need an intesity shot. It seems as if they're satisfied or used to being losers. The Minot program came out of obscurity when Blais came and even before that it was popular even though it was new. There were a lot of positives like the Minot Raiders, a new arena, a lot of high school players involved, Dave Stanley, Jeff Bredahl, Andrews, Mike Schmidt with the youth hockey guys when the young players were out there. There was a huge core group of parents from different neighborhoods who attended the practices and carpooled. I am not sure if that is how it is now up there but I suspect not. It's too bad. The East gets to play the Section 8A teams and the west does not have anything like that anymore. Why doesn't Minot schedule Notre Dame, Estevan, Moose Jaw, etc. teams both in H.S. and in youth? It was kind of fun exchanging those stupid pins with the Canadians before every game and before we usually got our a$$es kicked by them in 4th, 5th, and 6th, 7th, 8th grades.
  19. The Minot kids obiously need to have the s#!+ kicked out of them. What a bunch of bad attitude losers!
  20. The Star and Sickle evidently does not publish commentary about Coleman's article. I am sure other people responded, as I did, and did so respectfully, even though his tirade was hardly respectful. I thought that "Der Stuermer" had ended publications 62 years ago.
  21. Hockey should be a big sport in Williston. It really is not that far to Regina, Moose Jaw and many SJHL venues. One would think that Williston could schedule a few games with some Sask. teams.
  22. That is truly sad. I hope UND does not follow suit. Admittedly, I don't know the situation but why did Novak wait this long to complain? I am sure the UofI has plenty of white blood alums who could of stepped up to the plate and chose not to do so. Novak has connections and has a column. Why didn't he and others so connected use them to argue the sane side of this crap before now? Shame on them! What's wrong with them?
