  1. Then you're screwed on Landman!
  2. Bob, the Badger game is live on My Network Tv.
  3. Has anyone else looked at the birthdays of our d-men? If not would you have guessed that Jake Marto is our second oldest defenseman? Pretty crazy. Marto is 2 months older then Genoway, about half a year older then Jones, about 3/4 a year older then Chorney, about a year older then Finley, and about a year and 3/4 older then LaPoint. Bina on the other hand is 3 years and 7 months older then Marto, and 5 years older then LaPoint. The biggest age differential on the team is Bina and Malone. Bina is about 6 years and 4 months older than Malone. Bina was also the oldest player on the team last season! The biggest age differential in the last couple of seasons was Lee Marvin being 7 years older than Jonathon Toews. There was also a 7 year gap between Ryan Hale and Drew Stafford in 03-04.
  4. I call it like I see it. I'm not just a Wisconsin fan. I cheer for the Sioux every weekend they aren't playing against Wisconsin. I wore my Sioux stuff at the Final Five last weekend and cheered as hard as I could. And I didn't bring up LaPoint in this discussion. It was about Finley, and he was brutal on Friday. If I should bash anyone to make LaPoint look better it would be Marto (since they are battling for playing time) but I'm not because I like the way Marto plays. I think Marto is a good hockey player and should be in the lineup. My opinion on Finley isn't going to change until he starts playing more consistent good hockey. If you don't think he cost the team the game on Friday then you just didn't pay attention. Not only did he get walked on the game winner, he was in the box on the first goal. The last game I watched when Denver was in Grand Forks. Finley did all he could to give up the lead in the last 2 minutes of the game. He let a forward (whos name escapes me right now) walk right around him to the net when the Sioux were up 1. He then had to pull the guy down and give the Pioneers a Power Play for the last 2 minutes of the game. And these two examples are just what I could think of in the last two games against Denver! Don't make this LaPoint vs Finley because I did not bring that up. I just commented on the Finley situation.
  5. First of all, LaPoint got a concussion on that check from behind at the start of the game. That is the reason why he was out of the lineup, not because of a coaching decision. He said he doesn't remember playing half of the game. Second of all, I'm not sure how anyone can take you seriously.
  6. This is nothing new for Finley. I've been talking about this all season. I just simply do not understand what people see in him besides being huge and allegedly "intimidating" other teams. Didn't notice him as much today but Friday was embarrassing to watch.
  7. Genoway could be a tough loss, he's a fine hockey player. I honestly think the Sioux should be fine. I have a lot of confidence in Marto and LaPoint. Following LaPoint, I think he's at his best when he's allowed to just go out and play. The loss of Genoway will pretty much assure that he'll be running the second power play. When he's at his best is when he's in control and what a better opportunity then this? Sioux are still in good shape.
  8. This may be a long shot but a buddy of mind found this little nugget on Ebay today. "These are used goalie PADS and GLOVE & BLOCKER. They 36" inch pads in height and 11" inch in width. The Pads Glove and Blocker all meet the current NHL size requirements. The are all RBK Pro model. I used them for half a season and they are still in great shape. They are green with white trim. Any questions just ask and I will promptly respond." Link Any chance these are Grieco's?
  9. Come on AZ, step up your game, the playoffs are right around the corner!
  10. This has nothing to do with LaPoint. Someone just asked to rank the defensemen so I did. I gave my honest opinion as to how good I feel each player is. When people asked why I ranked Finley so low I told them. I've come to the conclusion that Sioux fans favor a big defensive defenseman in the Smaby, Green mold, (And trust me, Finley can't hold the jocks of those two.) over an offensive minded defenseman, see Lee, Brian, LaPoint, Derrick. You guys are gonna be real upset if thats the case when Joey Gleason comes here.
  11. I didn't disappear. I still think he's vastly over-rated.
  12. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just looking for an example or an explanation on why he's not getting it done in your opinion. When I watch a Sioux game, as I did last night, I watch and know every time he's on the ice and what he's doing. Last night he was pretty calm, composed, made every outlet pass to get the breakout started. Never got beat defensively, played solid on the second power play. The only time I could say he did anything questionable was on one of the goals I don't think he got to the corner fast enough but I'm not sure anyone could have gotten to that guy. It's hard to get from the front of the net covering someone to the corner when the pass is coming from behind the net. If Jones wouldn't have let the forward camp in front of the net he wouldn't have scored any ways. But honestly thats the only thing I can think of last night. Feel free to help me out if I'm wrong. I will admit that I was flipping between the Sioux and the Badgers a bit.
  13. I think I proved my point tonight when Finley did all he could to cost the Sioux the game by getting absolutely torched with 2:30 seconds to go, only to take a penalty and put DU on the PP for the final 2 minutes of the game. Finley is lucky JPL came to play at the end of the game.
  14. I just find it un-believable how much love there is for Finley on this board. Tonight when your at the game, or watching on tv, specifically watch Joe Finley for an entire game. Few things you will notice. #1. He will never pinch. Even on a puck where he could get there, he is afraid that he will get beat. This costs the Sioux possession of the offensive zone ALL THE TIME. #2. He is soooo SLOW. Gotta be the slowest player on the team. I'd like to see him race Radke. #3. For being 6'7, he doesn't touch anyone. Finley should be out there killing kids, night in and night out. #4. I've never seen a collegiate defenseman so shakey with the puck in his own end of the ice. Every game I am at he scares me half to death when he handles the puck in the defensive zone. He doesn't make good decisions and is a terrible passer. #5. For having the hardest shot on the team, it never hits the net. I'd love to see a stat that shows how many of Joe's shots actually hit the net. #6. For as much as he's on the ice, his 11 points in 27 games are pathetic. He is on the ice ALL THE TIME (Including the power play for some un-godly reason). He has 4 career goals in 111 career games. For as much time he spends on the ice that number is strikingly low. #7. He should be paying for Genoways dinner every single night. Because I can't count the number of times when big Joe has gotten beat but Genoway made up for it with his speed and caught someone from behind. Example, Genoway rushes the puck up last weekend at Minnesota, gets a shot off, somehow Finley falls asleep at the wheel and lets Lucia get a semi-break away, Genoway, comes out of no where and saves Finley and stops Lucia. And thats just the start of it. The only reason he is playing is that he's a 6'7 junior, who is a first round NHL pick. If he was a freshman and a 6'th rounder, he wouldn't be sniffing the ice right now.
  15. If I were to rank the D right now I would say: Chorney Bina Genoway LaPoint Marto Jones Finley
  16. Thank God for LaPoint on friday.
  17. Marto is faster than any defenseman on the team, but he's not the best. And there is no way Marto is as offensive as LaPoint, thats just plain silly. But, I also don't think it's Marto who should be sitting.
  18. Marto in, LaPoint out. Way to use the olympic ice to your advantage sitting one of your most offensive defensemen.
  19. Looking for one ticket for both friday and saturday nights @ Minnesota this weekend.
  20. LaPoint missed this weekend due to injury, last friday in St. Cloud is still a mystery to everyone.
  21. +/- is like the RBI stat. It is a stat that is a byproduct of opportunity.
