  1. There is no greater song to play before the teams hit the ice, it just makes the blood rush in my system almost like in anticipation of the teams hitting the ice. From Wikipedia: Since the song's release, "In The Air Tonight" has been the most played song on PA systems of NFL stadiums, and has become almost a tradition to some players. Some players, most notably all-pro linebackers Derrick Brooks and Ray Lewis, even sing the song while in a play. The song's popularity among NFL players was the subject of an NFL Films piece on ESPN. The song has been used as entrance music for a number of players and teams of various sports, including the University of Miami football team, NBA team the Miami Heat, and boxers Shane Mosley, Riddick Bowe, and Jermain Taylor. Pro basketball player Kevin Garnett is often seen mimicking the drum solo in timeouts and refers to it as "one of his favorite songs", and it is also used during pre-game introductions at Boston Celtics games. The song has also been used during the 2008 Montreal Canadiens playoff games, before the players come out on the ice.
  2. I've never personally been at the Ralph for this but the song is great. The only thing is, the Gophers did the exact same thing with the exact same song last year. So your a year late guys. Regardless I like the song and I think it would be sweet.
  3. You guys get to see the games a lot more than I do but last season LaPoint was on the second unit off and on during the season. Now there is really no excuse for him not to be out there, especially when Finley isn't playing.
  4. No problem PHE. I'm not saying LaPoint is all world or anything here, but he is a powerplay specialist. He does other things well, but he's one of the best players running a PP that I've seen. 34 points on the PP in 1 season? Thats absolutely sick especially in the USHL. Jones is a very, very solid defenseman, but he's not an offensive threat, why is he on the power play? Not having Kozek out there on the PP is like not having Brett Hull on the ice with that shot, even right now when Hull is like 50 years old.
  5. Wow, I wonder why your power play is sitting at 10% when you have a guy who scored 18 goals last season and another player who had 34 points on the power play in 1 USHL season sitting on your bench.
  6. What are the Power Play units right now?
  7. Sorry guys, I cheer for you every weekend, except this one. Go Badgers!
  8. Wow, i was 0-2 in one post, awful.
  9. Seidel is an 88 and has to go to college next season, UW has less than zero room for next season. Forney wasn't even playing in that game so he wasn't there watching him. Forney plays for Green Bay. Possibly, but not real likely. Wisconsin already has Aaron Crandall committed for next season in goal.
  10. ACT was the main reason when I spoke with him on behalf of our blog. When he talked with Milewski (madison writer), he said he could still get into UW but I don't think it was the case. I think he ends up at a school like St. Cloud or UMD with slightly more lenient entrance requirements. Listing schools like Boston College is purely damage control by him and his advisor.
  11. Anyone remember who was on the special teams?
  12. Alright, looks like I'm going to give this a shot this season.
  13. I was just replying to your comment that maybe he really hated juniors with my post. And the homesick thing is a bit of a cop out if you ask me. He finished high school at Stevens Point, but he's from Madison. I'm not sure the exact year he moved to Stevens Point but he lived the majority of his life in Madison.
  14. If he really hated juniors that bad, and wanted to play college, he could have called almost any mid level D-1 team in the nation and they would have taken him this season. It's not unheard of to make it from D-III but it's rare obviously. Other then the names you listed I can only think of Alex Hicks from UW-Eau Claire.
  15. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around this. This kid had a scholarship to Wisconsin. Was recruited by other high end WCHA teams like North Dakota. Was a 4th round draft pick. And is playing for one of the best teams in the USHL. There is more to this story than just him deciding he wanted to play for his hometown D-III team. This is single handedly, the worst hockey decision I've ever heard of.
  16. I don't think thats a fair comparison. Clarke wasn't drafted by a major junior team when he committed to North Dakota. He is a weasel and told teams he was coming to America for sure and then when he fell to the team he wanted to be drafted by he comes out of the Zamboni tunnel. Ambroz has already been drafted by Seattle so a commitment doesn't affect where he's going to go in the draft like it did with Clarke. The only way I could see any shadyness with this would be if he used a commitment to Minnesota to negotiate a better contract with Seattle.
  17. The style of play thing is starting to become a very ignorant statement. Some day people will realize that Wisconsin has the best coach for developing defensemen in college hockey (Osiecki), and has a former NHL coach (Eaves) on the staff. They have turned players like Davis Drewiske (who at one time committed to Bemidji) and Joe Piskula into solid AHL players and in Piskula's case, time in the NHL. I'm not calling you out specifically RedWing, fans of other teams all say the same thing, and it's funny because most of the time they don't realize how much their own team is trapping. When I watched Gopher games last year they trapped ALL THE TIME. Yet their fan's are the worst at calling out Wisconsin for trapping.
  18. Honestly he reminds me a lot of Ryan Flynn.
  19. Thanks for the info. I still think he should play for New Praugue for this season and go for a State Title with Lapic. They have a good opportunity at the A level. He can go to the USHL for 2 more seasons after this or play with the NTDP for 2 more seasons after this if he wants.
  20. Ambroz has already been drafted by Seattle in last years WHL draft because the dub draft's a year earlier then the OHL or the QMJHL. And where did you hear that he is playing in the USHL this season? First I've heard anything about that. He's certainly not ready to contribute to a USHL team at this point. I watched him in St. Cloud at 15's and he was good but a lot of it has to do with how much bigger he is then the kids there. He can physically over power everyone at this point but once kids start growing and getting in to weight programs and hitting growth spurts he's not going to have as big of a physical edge. He also doesn't skate very well so top 5 NHL draft pick seems a bit out of reach in my opinion. Depending on how much he develops in his skating he could definitely end up there but right now I'm not sure you can project him being more then a first round pick. Now don't get me wrong I thought he was one of the best players there but not the best forward I saw. I like that he plays pissed off and with and attitude. He also finished well from what I saw and just looking at his numbers they say the same thing. If he goes to college, which I haven't seen anything to suggest that he isn't besides being drafted by Seattle in the dub in May, (and I've heard nothing to suggest he's considering that route) it's probably going to be a North Dakota/Minnesota battle (according to Hammy) with Wisconsin possibly in the mix (It's only natural, they locked up his teamate which was already noted).
  21. Haha, I'm sure you just didn't see them but this is now the third thread on the Evaluation camp in this forum.
  22. You think Montreal is disappointed in the development of Ryan McDonagh so far? I would disagree with you there. As for Fischer, well it didn't take a genius to figure out that he was rated way too highly coming out of Apple Valley.
  23. Already a thread here.
