  1. I love TJ on the ice. Off-ice, he's a great, fun-loving kid with an unfortunate penchant for getting into some scrapes. He's putting himself in unnecessarily perilous territory with these last couple of incidents. His probation for the '07 minor on premises offense stipulated he violate no criminal laws for twelve months. The disorderly conduct charge was filed in Feb. '08 and is in pre-trial conference status. Now this latest. I'll agree that none of these three "offenses" amounts to a hill of beans, but this is a pattern of something. I don't know what kind of consequences being found guilty of either of these two recent deals would have on his '07 sentence imposition. But it seems like he's either thumbing his nose at the law, irresponsible, stupid, or a combination of any or all. It's disappointing.
  2. Nice mature attitude toward things. Alcohol's a wonderful amnesia drug, isn't it?
  3. Triouxp: here's my take. 1. Discussing (poor) performance here is no different than raving about a fantastic play; acceptable expression of personal opinion. 2. Positing that Hak should be fired (with which I vehemently disagree) is also an acceptable expression of personal opinion. 3. The "official bash Joe Finley" thread probably reaches the threshold of unacceptable, although I tend to err toward the most liberal definition of freedom of expression. I don't mind that some posters criticize certain players for a poor play; I've done it myself on occasion. There are limits, though. I'd draw the line at personal attacks directed at other posters. Calling another poster an a**hole is uncalled for. Calling their opinion flawed, even stupid, seems acceptable, however. Attack the opinion to your heart's content; please stop short of a personal attack. This is directed at all posters. As to a lawsuit being filed: I fail to find a legal basis. I don't think we can sue just because someone thinks we are stupid and says so here. Now, if you were to release those photos of me that were covered under that non-disclosure agreement you signed, well that's a whole different story.
  4. I wonder if it isn't time to dump the cycle offense and start to build a speed team? The Sioux lately (with a couple of obvious exceptions) don't come from behind well, primarily, IMO, 'cause we've got a bunch of hard-nosed kids who love going into the corners. Maybe we need to utilize the speed that's on the team today, supplement that with some very fast kids coming in for 08 and 09? I miss 7-3 and 6-2 games. And 40 goal scorers. That being said, I couldn't be prouder of a team than I am of this year's Fighting Sioux. They fought through a lot of injuries, a lot of off-ice distractions, and maybe took a so-so team farther than they belonged.
  5. ^If that's the case, it's too bad he didn't pay a lot of attention to his last college game.
  6. Seeing as how Todd Anderson has called games in this year's Regionals and now a Frozen Four semi, I think we need to recognize that he might not be nearly as incompetent a referee as we've all been saying. Seriously. He called a helluva game. I hope he gets the final.
  7. ^I heard Bina won it, over Trupp.
  8. You 'spose these young men have practiced their autographs? Not a one of the signatures looks like it was made by a 18-22 year old. They all look like they're ready for prime time.
  9. Why don't you two get a room?
  10. Does Hakstol not nominate any players for this?
  11. Actually I think the Warthogs match up pretty well against the Sioux. Good speed on D; big, physical forwards.
  12. Don't know if its been posted here yet, but Nodl has signed.
  13. I am certain the WCHA, displaying its altruism and benevolence, will come up with some way that we can all enjoy the painting for a small fee (plus shipping and handling, of course).
  14. Committees don't make conspiracies; fans do.

    Brian Lee

I thought this thread was about Brian Lee... Guess I'll start a new thread to note he scored his first NHL point last night.
  16. For everyone's edification, here are the finalists for the 00-01 Hobey and their stats: Erik Anderson, St. Lawrence 32 17-34-51 Brian Gionta, Boston College 43 33-21-54 Jeff Hamilton, Yale 31 23-32-55 Dany Heatley, Wisconsin 39 24-33-57 Andy Hilbert, Michigan 42 26-38-64 Kent Huskins, Clarkson 35 6-28-34 Jordan Leopold, Minnesota 42 12-37-49 (Leo's numbers were actually better this year than the next, when he won Hobey) Jeff Panzer, North Dakota 46 26-55-81 Ryan Miller, Michigan State 40 31-5-4 0.950 1.32 Ty Conklin, New Hampshire 34 17-12-5 0.920 2.05 My feeling is that the Hobey panel looks first for a pure goal-scorer, but when a goal tender has the kind of year Miller did (and JPL has this year) they'll allow them into the inner sanctum. I'm not certain of this, but I think Gionta and Bryan Lundbohm were the only 30+ goal scorers in the country that season. Miller's stats were simply sick.
  17. ^Psst, MM. You're quoting the wrong year's stats. Miller, like Duncan, returned to play another year after winning the Hobey. Here are his last two year's stats. 00-01 is his Hobey year: 2000-01 40 1.32 31 5 4 1024 0.950 2001-02 40 1.77 26 9 5 1039 0.936 (Just trying to help a brutha out.)
  18. Miller actually faced 25 shots per game.
  19. The Hobey voters are most impressed with goal scorers. Porter, Gerbe and Jones are the only 30+ goal scorers this year. Seeing these three as the Hat Trick is not at all surprising to anyone who actually follows the Hobey. 1 Kevin Porter Michigan SR F 33-29-62 2 Nathan Gerbe Boston College JR F 30-30-60 15 Ryan Jones Miami SR F 31-18-49 Only two goaltenders have ever won the Hobey: Ryan Miller (2001) and Robb Stauber (1988). Miller was sick the year he won, 1.32 GAA and 0.950 Save%. I don't recall Stauber's stats, but he played in the "dark ages" of college hockey, so they might not be as stellar as either Miller's or JP's. Lamoureux's had a helluva year. I am proud of him, and thrilled that he's garnered some post-season awards. But a goalie wasn't going to win the Hobey this year; not with the gaudy numbers Porter and Gerbe put up.
  20. While I admire your optimism, and share your enthusiasm at JP's latest honor, I must
  21. I know Ron Jeremy is a porn star. I was just trying to make a connection that didn't have anything to do with him being a porn star. The mustache thing blew right past me. Please tell me you don't think that's a sweet stache, AZ.
  22. (Reinforcing all opinions regarding my ignorance....) Ya gotta help me with this one....
  23. The battle of the "logos"
  24. ^I'm sure Michigan has been there, like, 323 times in a row.
