  1. ^there is room to negotiate incentives. Toews' contract has a $1,750,000 performance bonus for this season!
  2. Not that this is unexpected, but negotiations are underway: In other Blues news, team President John Davidson said preliminary talks have begun with the adviser to former No. 12 draft pick T.J. Oshie, a forward at the University of North Dakota. "We've started some discussions with his family adviser and we'll see where it goes," said Davidson, who hoped to make progress by the end of the week.
  3. This isn't one of those "Rick Roll" thingies, is it? I'm thinking clicking on that link can only bring heartache and disaster into my life.
  4. Not this again.................
  5. If you ever listen to the audio on that clip, Trupp clearly calls "Marty". While it is still a one-in-a-million pass and goal, the two of them knew what they were trying to do.
  6. Bump. Take a look at some of the predictions. A fun walk down memory lane.
  7. Yeah, I'm with you and Goon on this one. I think the 08-09 Fighting Sioux will burn out the goal lights.
  8. Obviously I'm not an attorney, but I don't think a sporting event for which an admission fee is charged is a public accommodation, so the free speech argument probably doesn't strictly apply.
  9. He should probably be tarred and feathered merely on principle. Perhaps daily; certainly weekly. An aside: I still think Todd Anderson called a couple very good games in Denver. I'm starting to change my mind as to his abilities.
  10. What!?! Why didn't you tell me this before I renewed my season tickets? No hockey next year? I wonder if they'll give me my money back!?!?!?!?
  11. Aren't you guys s'posed to stick up for one another?
  12. I love TJ on the ice. Off-ice, he's a great, fun-loving kid with an unfortunate penchant for getting into some scrapes. He's putting himself in unnecessarily perilous territory with these last couple of incidents. His probation for the '07 minor on premises offense stipulated he violate no criminal laws for twelve months. The disorderly conduct charge was filed in Feb. '08 and is in pre-trial conference status. Now this latest. I'll agree that none of these three "offenses" amounts to a hill of beans, but this is a pattern of something. I don't know what kind of consequences being found guilty of either of these two recent deals would have on his '07 sentence imposition. But it seems like he's either thumbing his nose at the law, irresponsible, stupid, or a combination of any or all. It's disappointing.
  13. Nice mature attitude toward things. Alcohol's a wonderful amnesia drug, isn't it?
  14. Triouxp: here's my take. 1. Discussing (poor) performance here is no different than raving about a fantastic play; acceptable expression of personal opinion. 2. Positing that Hak should be fired (with which I vehemently disagree) is also an acceptable expression of personal opinion. 3. The "official bash Joe Finley" thread probably reaches the threshold of unacceptable, although I tend to err toward the most liberal definition of freedom of expression. I don't mind that some posters criticize certain players for a poor play; I've done it myself on occasion. There are limits, though. I'd draw the line at personal attacks directed at other posters. Calling another poster an a**hole is uncalled for. Calling their opinion flawed, even stupid, seems acceptable, however. Attack the opinion to your heart's content; please stop short of a personal attack. This is directed at all posters. As to a lawsuit being filed: I fail to find a legal basis. I don't think we can sue just because someone thinks we are stupid and says so here. Now, if you were to release those photos of me that were covered under that non-disclosure agreement you signed, well that's a whole different story.
  15. I wonder if it isn't time to dump the cycle offense and start to build a speed team? The Sioux lately (with a couple of obvious exceptions) don't come from behind well, primarily, IMO, 'cause we've got a bunch of hard-nosed kids who love going into the corners. Maybe we need to utilize the speed that's on the team today, supplement that with some very fast kids coming in for 08 and 09? I miss 7-3 and 6-2 games. And 40 goal scorers. That being said, I couldn't be prouder of a team than I am of this year's Fighting Sioux. They fought through a lot of injuries, a lot of off-ice distractions, and maybe took a so-so team farther than they belonged.
  16. ^If that's the case, it's too bad he didn't pay a lot of attention to his last college game.
  17. Seeing as how Todd Anderson has called games in this year's Regionals and now a Frozen Four semi, I think we need to recognize that he might not be nearly as incompetent a referee as we've all been saying. Seriously. He called a helluva game. I hope he gets the final.
  18. ^I heard Bina won it, over Trupp.
  19. You 'spose these young men have practiced their autographs? Not a one of the signatures looks like it was made by a 18-22 year old. They all look like they're ready for prime time.
  20. Why don't you two get a room?
  21. Does Hakstol not nominate any players for this?
  22. Actually I think the Warthogs match up pretty well against the Sioux. Good speed on D; big, physical forwards.
  23. Don't know if its been posted here yet, but Nodl has signed.
  24. I am certain the WCHA, displaying its altruism and benevolence, will come up with some way that we can all enjoy the painting for a small fee (plus shipping and handling, of course).
