Scary NHL Moment: Richard Zednik neck slashed with skate
mikejm replied to larsensa's topic in Men's Hockey
IIRC every player entering the NHL after (date?) must wear a half-shield. It is the same way helmets were made mandatory; they grand-fathered in old geezers. Back to the OT: I'm sort of surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often; I've watched hockey since the early 70s and seen only the Trotter tendon and this. Thank God for little miracles. -
Getting?? They were already limited. Now it is worse. I'll be pilloried for this, but I'm starting to feel sorry for the Gophers. They were thin with early departures, their incoming freshmen haven't panned out as well as they were predicted to (but man, you cna't expect too much from most freshmen in the WCHA), and now the injury bug has set in big time.

That is mean. Funny. But mean.

No, that honor is awarded in perpetuity to the University of Michigan. UND will have to settle for second.

There are in all likelihood a number of Purpurs reading this message board!!!!

Who are three people who've never been in my kitchen?

I need you to swing by my office and clean my computer screen. We need to develop an acronym for posts which "May Cause Soda Spewing" but MCSS doesn't really cut it.

So this is like Jeopardy? Um, who are two Gopher hockey players and my eighth-grade math teacher's daughter?

^To be fair, one should point out there are eleven other 2004 first round picks who've yet to score a point in the NHL. And, again in fairness, it should be noted that three of those scoreless picks are goaltenders. Finally

1. You're welcome; and 2. I'm only in charge of the "traitor/trader" misuse; everybody around here has been assigned different tasks.
-
Traitors The word is "traitors". Traders are people who are involved in the exchange of something for something else; usually of value. [/rant]

Peltier said he would like to see North Dakota again in the playoffs.

I like INCH's take a whole lot better. Although it does note that UND gets the quto-bid by winning the Final 5. I hope we don't have to accomplish that to get a #1 seed. And CC and DU both in the Springs regional seems like a blatant attempt to build attendance.

^ cut by a skate blade. It happened right in front of me. It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen occur on the ice.

A bracket with Mankato and Duluth but no Gophers!?!?!?!? When's the last time you've seen that? They'll be installing tall railings around every window sill more than two stories above the street in Minneapolis if this comes to pass.

Hakstol expects to monitor the game thread here at SiouxSports and send text messages to Eades to correct errors as he "sees" them.

By definition, they are not losers. It was a little tiring though, to listen to Mercury talk about living in "Perfectville" or whatevertheheck he called it. I'd much rather listen to Don Shula, Tsonka et al talk about having a perfect season than Belichek and Randy Moss. Those are real tools.

I'm afraid it is far too late for that to be an issue. Ask any of my fans.

I won't go as far as some of you and call Wheeler a bust. He's a big kid, with obvious skills. Physically (and statistically ironically) he is very similar to another Gopher right wing, Barry Tallackson. But while Barry never seemed to show a lot of effort on the ice and, instead, rely simply on his talent, at least Wheeler tries. Yeah, I don't like the fact that he tends to lip off and then turn away, but a kid with that much talent and (apparently) desire isn't going to be a "bust". Will he pan out as a first-rounder? I don't know. I'm just not ready to write the kid off.

I've gotten to know Hak personally and I'll echo OBG's words: this is as far removed from what Dave is as the east is from the west. When he said in his public apology that he was embarrassed, he meant it. This is not a coach you'll see standing on the boards whining about a call, or going postal on an official in the tunnel . Dave Hakstol's character is, from my personal experience, of the highest magnitude.

1. Why is everyone all of a sudden agreeing with me!?!?!?!?! First its Trunk Monkey and now you! Get your own opinions! 2. I think they are trying to work the play down low, but it seems they are aiming to get all four defenders on one side of the ice and sneak a back door on the back side. Minnesota just didn't allow the puck to get below the dots.
