  1. I'm with you jloos. Watching BC break out of their zone is like being at an airshow and seeing the Blue Angels. They are really fast. I think the Sioux can slow them down, though, if they play with some physicality. And Finley, frankly, was lost all weekend. I can't believe how many times he dropped a puck behind his own net, to a teammate who wasn't there. And watching him be stymied behind the net last night, trying to decide which way to start the rush was painful. That mess resulted in an ugly turnover and an odd-man rush that I thought would end up with the game-winner by the Red Plague. Joe needs to get his chi straight.
  2. Clearly Hak was just playing rope-a-dope using Miller with Oshie and Duncan. He lulled Bucky into complacency and then sprang Kozek on them in the third. What a great mess-with-their-heads hockey coaching mind.
  3. I'm only a little ashamed of myself for this, but yeah, having to practice at Purpur or anywhere else might be good for this team. I'm surprised at how nonchalant the Sioux can be some times, and two, maybe two-and-a-half period of Sunday's game, most of the team simply had a great seat for a hockey game. I don't know what Hakstol (or one of the captains) said after the second, but FINALLY the boys showed up and played up to their abilities. This is a special hockey team; maybe a champion team, but they can't take a period or two off like they did tonight. Like they did against DU in St. Paul. A win's a win, but other than Turris, this Wisconsin team has nothing close to the talent UND boasts, and the Badgers almost won the regional. Skate sixty minutes a game in Denver boys.
  4. Did I just hear shots are 33-17 Clarkson? Oh, and Clarkson scores: 2-1

    Brian Lee

Couldn't help but notice that Lee got a BOARDING minor in Thursday's game. The guy's nothing but a goon!
  6. How 'bout the Yankees?
  7. I'd be happier if nine different players scored on Sunday. And then again a couple weeks later.
  8. ^Yeah, and the funny thing is it took Princeton 11 minutes to score on an empty net!
  9. I think anyone who overlooks Miami in the regional is setting themselves up for disappointment. They're a +91 in GF/GA differential (163-72). Unless their cupcake schedule included quite a few "vison-impaired" goaltenders, this is a team to be reckoned with. BTW: nice recovery from a-hole to astute hockey observer gopherz. Your last two posts here have actually been pleasurable. That kind of reasoned posts will get you into a very rare category around here: grudgingly respected Gopher fan.
  10. I bought my F5 tickets this year through Ticketmeister. I emailed Carol LaBelle this morning regarding the "renewal" process. Here is her reply:
  11. TMI As to Finley and the GW Friday: while Joe didn't play either the puck or the body, you've got to give some props to the DU player. Helluva shot!

    Tom Pohl

    Tom Pohl is a senior.
  13. How many gave up eligibility to sign? I think you'll find the number of "early" departures is really quite low. Not too many underclassmen; two IIRC.
  14. ^ then you were only half wrong.
  15. ^as goofed up as traffic is since the 35W bridge collapsed you might spend 5 hours on I-94 between Minneapolis and St. Paul.
  16. I don't know that I'd classify 16-3-19 as either finding his "scoring touch" or a good season. I wish the best for Andrew, but I think he'll have another season at UND to find the touch. The AHL is littered with guys who scored more in college than he has, and they're not getting a sniff of the NHL.
  17. Sign what? Your cap? A new lease? As much as I like Kozek's wrister, I don't see him signing an NHL contract in 2008.

    Tom Pohl

You sure about this? 'Cause he's now out of intensive care and upgraded to "fair" condition. In addition, he talked to his coach Monday. Kinda tough to do that when one is in a coma. That being said, get well Tom Pohl. I've been a big fan of the entire Pohl family for a long time. They all play hockey with heart.
  19. What is this; like the 317th time this subject has been raised?
  20. Word I got before the game was that TJ wasn't for sure until after the warm-up. The hip pointer is just not getting better. He's playing in incredible pain. Genoway played with a cast on his left hand, which when one considers how valuable his stick handling is for this team, is a very good thing. If he were a right handed shot I don't think we would've seen Chay tonight. Genoway was a "go" since yesterday. Comments on the game: wow, that was a pretty complete effort. I knew Tech would throw an aggressive forecheck on the Sioux, but I didn't think they'd send three deep! And when they backed off the forecheck they put up a picket fence at their own blue line that was brutal. As hard as Tech went after the Sioux in our own zone, I'm surprised it took them 24 minutes to get a shot, although a puck bounced off the post behind Lammoureux in the first which doesn't count. Someone else already said it, but TJ
  21. KAIP FROM ZAJAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woohoo!!!!!!! Sioux 2-0
  22. ^Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to modernize. Panzer is just so, you know, yesterday.
  23. DUNCAN SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Assist to Kozek and Finley..... (Just practicing.)
  24. Genoway got robbed!
  25. This year's Fighting Sioux team is quite different than any I've seen in the last several years. It is really a team that defies easy description or characterization. Is it a speed and finesse team? Sure, but not completely. There is speed; and finesse. But I don't think that is the core. How about a team of the big oak trees the way the Sioux were described in Matt Greene's time? Certainly they are not as big as that team, but this isn't one that can be described as "soft" by any stretch of the imagination. I'd wager that this team is tougher
