  1. I think we can cross that off the list.
  2. Not to be a complete a**hole here, but Jesse made a couple of sort of derisive comments about "North Dakota" that probably could've been skipped. They added nothing to his story, nor to the seemingly miraculous ending. Good luck to him as he continues to heal and rehab.
  3. It would be an interesting test of the NCAA's powers, no?
  4. Please pardon the crude artwork. Spirit Lake already gave the University permission to use the logo. Just got to change the nickname.
  5. Wow! A 21-year-old freshman. And I see he's picked up his penalty minutes again: 115 in 30 games this year.
  6. Serious business, this internet is.
  7. I'm telling you, do not count out Spirit. I am not a fan, but I keep hearing whispers...
  8. Here's my take: the Pairwise only matters on the day the tournament field is chosen and seeded. It has absolutely no bearing on any other day of the year. I suppose one could argue that expanding the TUCs might influence how a team schedules non-conference opponents, but aside from that the Pairwise "rules" have nothing to do with actually playing hockey.
  9. It's not like they are changing the rules of the game. No team would've played a game any differently had they known this was going to happen.
  10. This is the attitude the team has to adopt. Well put.
  11. ND higher ed board won't actively fight proposed legislation on Fighting Sioux nickname
  12. Really misleading headline. But an interesting article nonetheless.
  13. Yes, I'd agree with this. Yes, our power play is not good at all: 18 goals in 102 opportunities (17.6%) is nearly woeful. Add to that giving up 3 shorties... I do disagree with your characterization of Genoway's play; it took him awhile to get back to speed, but since then he has added that "whoa! watch out for this guy" dynamic to the Sioux attack. I'd imagine that opposing players cringe when they see Chay heading up ice with the puck. Yes.
  14. I agree with you about the atmosphere in The Ralph, but differ in that the M-I-N-N-E-S-O-T-A thing is kinda cool to me.
  15. Gregoire has a much better attitude. A lot more coachable. A way better team player.
  16. "Anger most harms the person who feels it" - Dalai Lama
  17. We can thank all who tried to help UND keep the Fighting Sioux name and logo by carrying on in a dignified and adult fashion. A protest or boycott isn't the correct way to honor the proud tradition that we are now in the process of retiring.
  18. I've said this before, and will do this just one more time, because it is, frankly, time for us all to move on... I blame Ralph Engelstad. When he was burning through insane money building the most glorious ice palace on Earth, he could've just thrown another $20 million out there ($10mm each for Spirit Lake and Standing Rock) and bought the damn rights. But he got militant about the thing, "threatening" to kill the construction if the name were changed, and then forced the logo down opponents' throats by affixing it to every flat surface in the building. I will say a silent prayer to God every day of my life, thanking Him for Ralph's gift, but I also think this whole thing could've been settled 10 years ago. Now I'm done. Go North Dakota.
  19. Sort of ironic that David Hale's presence on the Sens is a contributor to Lee's being waived. Sens organization has a lot of nice things to say about Brian, however.
  20. Show me in the job description where "kill the nickname" was listed as a responsibility of the future president of UND. As I said, patently false.
  21. (Check the date on this article: nearly 3 years ago! The writer refers to Pelnik as 6-feet tall then...) The Defensemen By Paul Strand 2/19/08 Charlie Pelnik Charlie is one of our 6-foot defensemen. He has some big reach and can dangle with the puck. Playing for the AAA Jr. Hurricanes Charlie has learned well under coach Steve Sabo. He stays at home when it is needed and picks his spots to rush the puck. When he does rush the puck, look out. He was the winner of the shoot out competition after our first practice and showed those offensive moves. He also prefers the wrist shot from the point. Unlike most defensemen who love to get the big aircraft carrier slap shot off, Charlie takes a nice smooth wrist shot almost every time and sails it at the net. Not overpowering, but safe and usually ends in a good scoring play. The original blog
  22. This is patently false.
  23. ^His arm was in a sling later.
  24. I was just going to post the same word... There were times during Saturday's game were the Sioux couldn't seem to find their a$$ with both hands, but overall they played a very good game.
  25. ^That's great to read about Grimaldi, but I am tiring of reading about all these offensive prodigies who come to UND and turn out to be 10-goal-a-year scorers. I long for a 30-goal year from someone.
