St. Cloud was supposed to be as well this year, but they need to approach this off-season like last year, in getting the newcomers up to speed, and the returning players need to bring it this summer to make the next step.

On the other hand, I thought they had the potential to lose Knies up front and Faber, Lacombe, and Johnson on the back end which would have been a big hit. With Koster back along with Mittlestadt coming in, their back end alone will make them favorites in the Big Ten regardless of who they lost up front. Just saying our fans do the same thing, thinking the new guys are the answer, when most likely it is the guys like Broz taking a step forward, having already experienced the learning curve.

Wasn’t he one that some were lamenting losing to Minnesota? I do agree that he will be a good one when he’s an upperclassman. You almost need to keep a scholarship open for last minute surprises now.

Would love to see him bury a few game winning goals against the gophers.

Just like some of our fans, I love how some gopher fans are fine with Broz and Lucius leaving because of what they have coming in. So last year, they were excited about those two but now they are all in on the incoming recruits, like it is a given they will perform so much better than a top draft pick and top USHL performer from last year. I get it with Cooley, but the rest are not certain to be impact players right away.

My thoughts are that the coaches didn't think he was ready, and don't know if they would have brought him in regardless of Hain and Senden staying. If he wasn't ready and had to sit, I imagine he or the people advising him would tell him to enter the transfer portal after a year.

There is a sign that says something to the effect of Target construction deliveries in the back, but I don't know if they are just using the space while they do the renovation to their store, or if they plan to expand into that space as well.

I see Schlossman said that all the 16 teams in the NCAA tournament would have been the same if they didn't have overtime and the teams ended in a tie in regulation. So the question is that a good thing? I would rather have a system in which if you won in overtime, it would actually mean something. However I wouldn't want 3 on 3 to determine that right away. How about a 3 minute overtime 5 on 5 with a full win on the line, then 3 on 3 for 3 minutes for the 55%-45% scenario. At least that way if you tie it up late, you still have an opportunity to get a full win out of it.

Same way guys like Cole Spicer decommit -- they are told how great they are and they should be playing, and that it is most likely the coaches fault they aren't.

I think the bigger problem in an era where older teams seem to be in the mix at the end of the year (see Minnesota’s whining), is that we most likely will have two other guys coming of high school age, and McGlaughlin is a 2003 birthdate, so it wasn’t a great scenario to bring in another, especially with the number of returning forwards.

The last time they made it, they had way too much time off after their regular season ended. Would rather be sharp and a little tired than rusty. Who knows, maybe they announce membership to the NCHC right before or after our game with them this fall.

Northern Michigan seems to have done well in the portal, and I think they had a nice group coming back to begin with. Wouldn't be surprised if they give Minnesota State a run for their money next year. Who knows, Potulny might take a run at Spicer as well.

If I were the coaches, as long as he hasn't signed anywhere else, I wouldn't give up on this. To me, I would have some NHL scouts talk to the kid and his family and explain that his development would be better if he played another year of Juniors, and that being a possible late round pick, there is no hurry to move on to college. To the contrary, moving too fast could end up ruining his development. Doesn't hurt, as long as that bridge isn't burned, and I would hope that UND still is open to communication.
