... says the guy who can't control himself!
-
Works out perfect. Take that scholarship money, and give it to Gage Ausmus for next year.
-
Wouldn't get too hung up on draft status, as those players are smallish players that will probably have good college careers, but no guarantee of success in the NHL. Not saying these guys will be as good, but I would take an Evan Trupp or Ryan Duncan any day, especially when those guys are more likely to stay longer. I think I would also rather have a Cammaratta than a Fasching, at least at the college level.

So haven't heard too much about Koules. Anybody have any information on how he has performed in Major Juniors?
-
I remember a year ago people wondering why Brock Nelson wasn't putting up shots and numbers when he was playing in the minors. Who knows all the circumstances behind the lack of points. One thing I know, is that Kristo doesn't lack for offensive skill, if anything he needs to have a better focus on the defensive side of the rink, and perhaps that is what they want him to focus on.
-
Yeah, sounds like a person with a sense of entitlement.
-
On the positive side, they did put up quite a few points as a unit. Don't know if we'll have an abundance of defensive defensemen next year, so may have to do the same and then some in the future.
-
They probably don't want to mess with the chemistry when they are finally on track to make the playoffs for the first time in a long time.

Think there are players out there that could challenge Gothberg. You never know with goaltenders, as confidence is a huge thing. You could be great one year, and terrible the next. Hopefully Gothberg does become more consistent, but don't know that is a given with more experience, as he had issues giving up the occasional bad goal with the Force as well. If there is one thing we know with goaltenders is that coaches hate them giving up the bad goals and want them to stop the ones they are supposed to, along with the occasional ones they shouldn't. Never would have expected after Schweitzer led us to the National Championship in 1997 that he would be sitting on the bench a lot the following year when Goehring came in, and then be gone the following year.

... and I believe you said Minnesota was the best team in the nation as well and it wasn't close. Your objectivity is more than a little suspect, especially when you rarely stray from the "party line"
-
... and no sooner than you say that -- up pops Mariucci!!

Watching the back and forth, I can see that if you know somebody well or are related to someone it appears there isn't as high of a standard as to what is acceptable. If you don't know someone, its open season on coaches even with a more than respectable record. I don't think the people that are all over Hakstol for a record he shouldn't have to apologize for, have the same expectation level of themselves or people they know.

Speaking of Urban Meyer, you gotta love his approach about blowing up complacency at the first sight of it. Hopefully the Sioux are an angry team next year, and the coaches can do likewise and spot any complacency in the weight room and elsewhere and "nip it in the bud". http://www.coachingsearch.com/home/2988-urban-meyer-you-blow-up-complacency-as-fast-as-you-can.html

Asking a lot of some of those guys for St. Cloud to duplicate those numbers. Have a feeling they may see a few sophomore slumps.
-
Did he play 3 seasons because he lost a year because he came in overage, or did they not have that penalty back then?
-
Think current gopher players Serratore and Parenteau are quite old as well.
-
Never said I don't like it, just that it is more subject to the whims of social media.
-
Didn't go, but to this point Olson has a goal and 3 assists, and Peterson a goal and an assist.
-
Yeah, I suppose it is like the Heisman with the Downtown Athletic Club, but basically if the NCAA lets them use the image of "their" players, they are sanctioning it.
-
That's all fine and good, but if this is an award sanctioned by the NCAA (who I would suggest is a shady organization themselves), there is a huge possibility in this day and age of social media to buy into the innuendo and gossip that is prevalent in society today, as witnessed on message boards across the country. I don't necessarily think the voters are able to sort through those things fairly, and if a player is branded a certain way early on, he might not have any chance. There were prevalent rumors about Neal Broten, that had social media been around might have caused voters to question their votes. I have no idea if those rumors were true or not, but sometimes if you hear them often, could lead you to not give him the benefit of the doubt. Character is indeed a good qualification for being honored, but sometimes character can be skewed, and that goes both ways.

I'm not going to speculate on if UND would have given someone a better run, but you are taking a snapshot of possibly UND's worst game of the season, and really the second game against St. Cloud the Sioux outplayed them. Comparisons aren't always the way to go when predicting future games. I would suspect at the very least, Yale will give Quinnipiac a better game this time around.

Just seems like a huge number of 2014 and 2015 recruits already, but who knows what is going on behind the scenes. I'm with you, would love to have a big man with a good skill set to go with it.
-
A few months ago the Sioux got a verbal commitment from Tucker Poolman and shortly thereafter we saw that McCoshen verballed with BC. With so few openings for 2014, and so many possible to come in that year, is it possible the commitment from power forward Trevor Olson hints that Avery Peterson, another power forward projected as a high draft pick, may have made up his mind to go elsewhere? Hope not, as it would be nice to have a couple bookends like that going forward, especially since we've seen some nice power forward and cycling play in the tournament, and know that is something we were missing for the most part this year with the losses of Miller and Matteau. Need that manchild again like Frattin.
-
Be great to hear a report on him, Ryan Mantha and Charlie Pelnik, if all of them see playing time.
-
True, but who knows how the injury affected his recruitment, and usually top line guys are already committed this late in the game for the following season. Matt Henderson is a perfect example of a guy who was a leading goal scorer on his team who ended up walking on and became Frozen Four MVP. But yes, generally speaking top line guys should garner scholarship money.
