  1. Starman talking about how Arizona State is using Denver as the blueprint for what they want their program to become. Remember when UND used to be the blueprint for a lot of teams because of how hard they played? Personally I think Berry needs to follow Denver’s blueprint and recruit and play fast aggressive hockey. No more sitting back and hoping to hold on after you lead.
  2. I guess when your vocabulary is limited, you want to stick with the simple words to spell.
  3. GF hockey slacking on his patented reply.
  4. So you’re arguing Berry shouldn’t be accountable because teams like Minnesota, Boston University and Michigan have a bigger budget?
  5. Both of the Brock’s, Nelson and Boeser, score their 21st and 22nd goals tonight.
  6. I will only say that we have two first round draft picks on our team this year, yet we are not exactly flourishing. Sometimes it takes a while for the super talented guys to adjust to the college level, so you might get one big impact year from them. If you can still get the 2nd and 3rd round picks, you can compete quite well. Older players help offset the high skill of these young studs. Look at the US development teams, they have all studs, but still take their lumps playing teams with less talent but are a bit older. Besides that, there are only a handful or so of these first round guys that go in the draft each year, and those teams constantly have to be replacing them every other year. The best situation is getting some elite players and supplementing them with guys that play together for a while that develop chemistry. However if you want to compete with later round draft picks, portal players and Major Junior players, you better get guys that are willing to outwork and pay the price to compete with those teams with elite talent. As we have seen, that is very possible.
  7. How will Denver compete? If things like a million dollar NIL become the norm, than there will only be a handful of teams that can afford that. With Major Junior players eligible now, on top of the portal, you have other ways to stay competitive in that scenario. If you can't compete using those tools, then you recruit all 25-year old Canadians and goon it up, because players that are getting a million dollars won't want to mess up their future NHL contracts with an injury going into the corner with a guy that couldn't give a crap if he gets a five minute major.
  8. According to the affinity of UND hockey players for Chipotle, we should be putting our NIL money towards building a Chipotle instead of lining a few pockets.
  9. You know when you see something like this that this new poster can't look at things objectively. Joining a message board to defend screams that already. Not saying there aren't points to be made in Pemberton's regard though.
  10. I guess I don't see the categories that were referenced.
  11. I think Western wants to keep their train on a roll, unlike what Berry’s teams have done laying an egg in the Frozen Faceoff and then not being able to regain momentum in the National Tournament. I think Western coaches instill in their guys a compete level and won’t want to go backwards now.
  12. From what I’ve heard, they are in regardless.
  13. My concern not knowing if the NHL rule was in effect, was he dragged then picked it up and moved again so fast that you couldn’t tell where the puck was at any given time. Regardless, you couldn’t overturn something you called a goal with any hovering perceived anyway.
  14. I think the reason that UND is in the predicament they are in is because the upperclassmen aren’t leading the team, the freshmen are. Despite sitting on occasion, Littler is producing, along with Boisvert, and defensively Jubenvill is doing a good job. If UND has a chance to make it to the regionals, they need guys like Jamernik and Kunz to step up. I will say that Schmaltz has had a nice rebound year offensively to go with his responsible defensive game.
  15. Thanks, which is probably the reason they didn’t challenge.
  16. Did Omaha not have their timeout left? I am surprised it wasn’t challenged. Did college hockey go to the NHL rule where your foot doesn’t have to be on the ice, because it would have been hard to determine if OMac’s back skate was actually on the ice.
  17. Posch isn’t Patrick Roy. He hasn’t been that great since coming back. It probably didn’t help, but UND has more of an excuse if we are talking injuries. Bottom line is every team has to deal with injuries.
  18. You don’t get half a million a year to bring that up in postgame interviews. You are supposed to get your players to play your system. By how often this happens with a one goal lead in the third, I am led to believe, this is your system.
  19. You wonder why Denver gets the nice offensive talents, especially on defense. What skilled player wants to play that style game once you get up by one goal?
  20. It’s a win, but you wonder why people think they need a new philosophy, and a leader that will provide that. It’s too bad that UND’s administration doesn’t know enough about hockey to know you don’t win championships with that kind of hockey. And as I say that Berry gives his standard answer that they let up. If you can’t get them to play the way you want, then UND needs to find someone who can get their players to follow through. It’s like a recording every game.
  21. When you are the worst penalty killing team in the league, not a wise strategy to basically go into penalty killing mode the whole third period. That doesn’t seem to work for Berry.
  22. …and when Omaha ties it, UND will start getting shots again.
  23. But it worked so well against Michigan last year. If he is preaching something different, it isn’t getting through, so ultimately that is on him.
  24. Alex using Schlossman’s XG stat about UND’s loss to Omaha. Embarrassing!
