So why wasn't that UND hockey schedule in the background one of the give away schedules at the arena? I suppose nobody would be paying attention to the schedule then.
-
There isn't a lot they can do about the width of the concources, but in the upper deck they could use roped off areas at the concessions to funnel people in and out without them lining up vertically, not allowing the traffic to flow, and creating congestion. Maybe that is against fire code, I don't know. Also wonder if it is structurally possible to extend areas overlooking the lower deck in the concourse out toward the windows a bit to allow people to congregate out of the way a bit, and alleviate more traffic.

Yes, they have updated things that needed updating for recruits, but they also need to update those fan experience things you mentioned. They still have the same laser show with the box goalie that they had when the arena opened. Time to up the "wow" factor for the best fan experience. They have fallen behind other top venues in that regard. Glad they started with better cell phone amenities though.

Tim Hennessey said this morning that he thinks LaDue and LJ will probably sign, but thinks there is a good chance Schmaltz comes back. Would love to get all 3 of them back, but I guess I would take that scenario given they could possibly lose all three.
-
Yeah, they said they have 5 guys from that team committed to play for Michigan.

Well, three years with UND, and one with Ferris State, but the point rings true.

I assume you went to all the U.S. games then? -
Exactly, the fact that people are concerned about "rubbing it in their faces" after we win a championship in a sport they don't play, shows that they are obsessed by NDSU, which gives them credence for being a big deal. Likewise I thought it was pathetic when NDSU players took a shot at UND when they won a title a few years back, which makes Carson Wentz's congratulatory tweet all the more classy.

Is Canada's rep as a hockey country also tarnished then? Obviously this tournament doesn't hold as much prestige for them, and many others. -

I believe just Canada's all time point leader. -
...and some are suggesting they should be the team that joins the Big Ten with Notre Dame.

I'm guessing that the core of the incoming class may only be there a year or two.

It sounds like the chance at redemption isn't coming from the Athletic Department. Unless there is an endowment, I don't think it is wise to even go down that road. In fact I question taking the time and energy going down the endowment path. I don't think recruiting to this situation would be very easy. Just like when Alabama Huntsville quit hockey and Clarke Saunders came here, then they found funding to save it. I think people that have other options would be wanting to get out, and people that are being recruited are not going to want to touch this program.

So what about 3 years of .500 hockey? 5 years? etc. Yes, nattys are great and last forever, but we don't. It certainly makes my life more enjoyable in the meantime being relevant every year with at least a hope for that Natty. I love Natty's just as much as the next guy, but don't know if I could handle mediocrity all the other years, which for the most part has been Duluth's circumstance.

... and if you remember, there were some on this board that were ripping Berry's defense the first year or two when he came back. Would love to see those people's comments then compared to now.
-
The speculation on what or wouldn't Hak do is kind of amusing. Equally amusing is to speculate on the absolute meltdown people on this site would have had if Big time players didn't make a great play against Denver. I can only imagine that Berry would have been thrown under the bus because the players didn't play to win like they did against Quinnipiac, even though their mantra was attack mentality. Players made plays this year on the big stage.
-
... and after a period of time without many game breakers because of various guys not coming in, Hakstol did more than his due diligence to make sure they landed Boeser, going the extra mile / miles to make sure he ended up in a UND uniform. Last year Schmaltz was only a shell of what he was this year. Add Caggiula to that line and all of a sudden you have the magical line, with the magical season, with the magical culmination. Don't think they win the Championship this year without that line finding that magical chemistry.

Wish I could be so cursed.
-
We still aren't out of the woods on early departures, so we potentially could lose as many.
-
Even as a blogger, I have a hard time taking someone seriously who needs to resort to cursing to get across his anger. Maybe part of his anger is because of Schlossman's credibility compared to his.
-
If he did play for the gophers, you brought him up wrong!

I know Tim Hennessey calls Pecknold by another name because he said he has been stiffed twice in his career on scheduled interviews, once by Red Berenson, and the other Pecknold a year ago at the regionals. Of course, remember when Eddie Schultz was stiffed by Blais and the resulting meltdown he had. Sometimes some other things come up that are more important, although I would hope that apologies are offered in such circumstances, and who knows if that is part of the reason for the less than glowing reviews.
-
Would we cheer for the gophers or St. Cloud? You are naturally going to create more animosity for teams you play regularly.
-
For the sake of college hockey and players that get pushed to sign after their junior seasons even though they aren't ready, I hope the NHL fixes this policy. As someone else said, the more situations like Vessey's happen, the more likely NHL teams are going to push guys into signing after their Junior season, or even sophomore season, like L.A. tried with LaDue.

From what I understand Ladue could have a greater max salary if he stayed. Would love that to be the case, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
