  1. So to go with your sentiment, why would the Big Ten want to hang around with someone as lowly as UND who can't even pick a decent nickname?
  2. You trying to convince everyone how great it would be, reminds me of how all the constituents were told how great the Big Ten would be for their hockey programs. We have been shown that unlike the NCHC where hockey is the king for most of the institutions, the Big Ten treats hockey like a red-headed stepchild. Maybe we should see if we can hire Barry Alvarez as our Athletic Director too!
  3. No I don't think they will stay down, but that doesn't change the fact that, like Minnesota, our fans love having traditional rivals that you don't necessarily have to fly to if you want to attend a road game. Minnesota has been winning Big Ten Championships, yet their attendance has been horrible.
  4. Thank You for making my argument for me by saying "Imagine UND hockey being forced into a conference they didn't want to be in with No teams near them." UND fans, like Minnesota fans are fine playing the teams they play now, as evidenced by our full attendance compared to a half full arena at Mariucci. Your argument isn't about how great the Big Ten is, but how great it would be to have our rivalry again. Agree with that, but that is the extent of the argument for the Big Ten. No thank you!
  5. Your own fan base has already said how disconnected they have become from gopher hockey because they aren't planning their annual trips to Duluth, St. Cloud, etc.. Don't know how thrilling it would be to go to Joe Louis Arena and have the arena staff outnumber the fans. The Target Center wasn't great, but tons better than the Big Ten tourney, and that was with only two area teams.
  6. Pretty simple answer... No! UND is a traveling fan base, but why make it more difficult for most of your fan base to go to road games. A good deal of alumni are out west, not east, that is why Denver is always packed.
  7. Would be interesting to see their overall record in Amsoil itself.
  8. I'll bet Stecher, Ladue, Thompson, Caggiula, etc. would like to return the favor of ending their season a few years ago, and if they happen not to make it, that would be o.k. too!
  9. I thought I read somewhere on GPL that they are part of the season ticket package. If so, pretty pathetic showing.
  10. You have to wonder when Eaves goes down, how many of the players he recruited will still have a scholarship offer.
  11. Reminds me of the game against Boston U a couple years ago when a Sioux player had his stick knocked out of his hands and they gave him the penalty. I think the ref apologized after the fact. Do you think Sheppard would ever apologize? Guess if he did that every time he screwed up, he'd end up with laryngitis!
  12. Would guess the record is Kevin Maxwell in the late 70's with 82 or 83 points, but recently not many putting up huge numbers. Not many players reach 50 points in a season anymore, especially freshmen.
  13. That kind of answers my question. If there is that much volatility, then things will probably wash out at some time. Would be interesting to see if Minnesota would drop below Mankato with a loss tomorrow. My guess is they would, since it will be the rubber match.
  14. I'm no Pairwise expert, but it just seems strange that Minnesota is at 17 in the Pairwise with a 5-9 non-conference record in a bad league, and St. Lawrence has an almost identical overall record with a better non-conference record from a good league, and they are at 27th in the Pairwise. Is it still too early for all the comparisons, or what. Just seems like a big discrepancy considering the non-conference records and the respective leagues.
  15. Thank you! What was the stat Schlossman gave on the only teams to sweep in Kalamazoo in the past whatever is St. Cloud and UND, and doing it without the guys left at home and Stecher in the 3rd, and people are talking about negatives. Blows my mind, and apparently Schlossman's as well.
  16. Yeah, if that wasn't worthy of a penalty shot, I don't know what is. Turns out the 4-3 might have been a better option for us anyway.
  17. Western seems to be emboldened and now resorting to tackling.
  18. Exactly, Gersich got rid of the puck and the guy still plastered him well after the puck left. Not only was it obstruction, but the guy got to add a little hurt free of charge. What happened to the recent push to call obstruction. Guess Sheppard is exempt from the memo.
  19. Seriously? The all time leading scorer for Wisconsin, along with tons of time in the NHL as a player and assistant coach, and by the way he won one of those National Championships that you ripped Hakstol for not winning. Parise and Suter both said he was one of the best coaches that they have ever had. He may have run his course, but he had way more of a resume than Johnson.
  20. Sounds like a lot of UND fans. Nobody thinks anyone should ever come close to UND. If they do, it is because UND played poorly.
  21. St. Cloud's power play is so good. At first thought, I figure that will get them a long way in the tourney, but I think if they face a disciplined team, or if they don't click in the post season like they do now, they could be ripe for the upset. Guess that can be said of any team, but St. Cloud seems to rely heavily on a potent PP. On the other end of the spectrum, their PK is not so good. UND seems to be scoring o.k. without the PP, so if they start to connect at the right time it could help our chances. Will be interesting to see how those things play out in the postseason.
  22. For those that thought this weekend would or should be easy, Schlossman made a ton of great points in his Friday rewind. http://undhockey.areavoices.com/?p=102147
  23. I still think we get either CC or Western in the first round of the playoffs. Could see Western back to back weekends. Not too crazy about playing a really physical team four times in a row during playoffs, but might beat some of the other alternatives.
