I agree, it is probably similar to those who thought Adams should have come in a year earlier when he had a decent year in the USHL. To be truthful, I don't remember if I was one of those thinking that or not. Turns out, the coaches were right in that instance, and I would imagine the scenario is similar with Rizzo. If they aren't projected as role players, let them gain strength and confidence at another level before they come in, so they won't be lost and lose confidence at the college level.

Yes, I do ignore things like rankings to a large degree. I tend to focus on results. I definitely get excited about recruits rated high, but that doesn't mean squat, because just like Rizzo, they all will need to prove themselves at a higher level which is a crapshoot.

I agree that expectations are high for many of these players, but my premise was that he is the one that is raising the expectations by talking about our pipeline as possibly the top or top 3. So yeah, if we don't do much in the next 2-3 years people are going to put it on Berry, either for not developing them or them not being the level people talked about.

Let’s see how it plays out. I think Donato has a big upside because his skill set and speed is where the NHL is heading. Coyle has been on a hot streak lately, but before that Donato was an impact player while Coyle didn’t do well. Time will tell.

But according to some in our fan base, if you don’t score a lot early in your career you’re a failure and should be ditched for someone new.

...and how many will constantly talk about how they missed on a local kid should they go elsewhere and turn out to be decent. People talked about Jacob Benson being a miss because they didn’t early recruit him. None of these guys are offered full rides at this point, and to get legacy guys that have the work ethic and passion for the program certainly can’t hurt.

They have a ton of talent on this team, many that have set USA records, so the fact that he doesn’t play a ton isn’t surprising. Noticed he was out there short handed on a 5 on 3, so they must trust him to be responsible. I can see how the top guys set records, since they play all the time including when the game is well in hand. Putting them out on the power play with two minutes left with a game well in hand seems a bit much.
