So Brad Berry once again promises they’ll be back next year and that they need to fix the power play. Sounds familiar! Next year we’ll hear that the non conference games against weak competition are huge in the pairwise.
-
I said it a year ago, culture is changing. When you wait until a night before Senior night to discipline a player that has been undisciplined for years — that’s culture. When you are telling the media last year what a tight knit group you have, all the while they are fighting beyond normal everyday frustration— that’s culture. When you have a guy who hasn’t scored in twenty plus games and a defenseman who isn’t an offensive threat on your first power play unit — well, that is just very strange and does not do much for the culture for the rest of the team. If Berry sends out a letter next fall to the remaining season ticket holders saying how hard his team worked over the summer and how great of a year it is going to be, I hope a bunch send it back with the reply “Talk is cheap and action speaks louder than words.”
-
How about coming out to cut down the angle Thome.
-
Berry said last week that they need to improve on the average power play. Their power play is not average. If they did have an average power play, they would be in a lot better position. All of this with the focus coming into the season on improving the power play. Not good.

Our problem isn’t recruits scoring before they get here, it is with them scoring when they get here.
-
This may be true, but it certainly doesn’t absolve him from the responsibility of recruiting guys that can score so you can have a line or two that can go out there and just hold serve. When you don’t have guys like that you need scoring by committee, and having defensemen turned forward like Rieger and Johnson don’t chip in often enough to take that load off.

How is he figuring participated in, because Jones was only here two years and both he and Gardner missed a bunch of games the last few years. How many games did Anderson actually participate in?
-
So what are the odds during a down year that we have more fans show up in Denver than Minnesota had at Mariucci last weekend against a “rival”?
-
Losing that game at home in the final seconds of OT against Denver is the difference between UND hosting the series rather than Denver. Would have helped immensely in the pairwise as well. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, I guess it’s time to change the outcome on the ice!
-
Wow, Mariucci is just a big echo chamber once again today!
-
Agree. It is not exactly like Minnesota is thriving off of Minnesota recruits, and specifically Edina recruits.
-
Well, one of the players in the top 100 performances of the tournament is on our team now, so I don't think that is a good or bad sign. There are so many players that look like they will be studs but never amount to much.

The worse part is we either want Western to get swept by Miami, or sweep Miami, there isn’t any in between.
-
I don’t know about Duluth, but beating Western doesn’t do as much for improving pairwise. Duluth is out of the picture for a first round matchup anyway. Not sure if it is still possible to get in by winning that first round against a high pairwise team then win one at the Frozen faceoff against another team high in the pairwise.
-
Two may be a little too much to hope for, but Miami is playing better lately, and Western has been blasted a few times, so let’s hope the rivalry between the old CCHA teams brings out the best in Miami at home!
-
I agree to some extent, but is there any doubt that the person that has routinely hurt this team with selfish penalties is Gardner, and I have yet to see him miss a shift, much less a game. It is not like this team has the firepower to make up for that lack of discipline.
-
I would guess that it would be strongly considered. Don't know how many years she had a contract for, but it doesn't seem to be improving much.
-
At least they won’t have to shovel 5 foot drifts off the field!
-
Did anyone have Mark Senden as a player that would add more than Weatherby? Of course that may change, but it is sometime a huge crapshoot who is going to transition well to the next level.
-
So, if we take care of beating them, do you promise to take them to the woodshed the last series of the year instead of resting your players for the stretch run, or playing half throttle? Frankly, that is the only hope for home ice right now, and that seems very unlikely given the results to this point.
-
Yeah, he did not have a good outing the first night in Duluth. I think he flops way too much for a team like Duluth that can take advantage when you are out of position. They can get you moving side to side, and with Thome, he might be completely out of the net in some of those situations. Here's hoping that he has a little redemption in mind!

The question is, how do you do it to be fair, and not have people traveling crazy distances to school when you don't really care about the sporting end of it. I'm sure the majority of students don't want to drive forever when they are closer to one school. Also, do you allow for legacy exceptions or would it be cut and dried? Tough questions to answer, but it probably is time to start tackling them.
-
To be fair, it's gotta be hard to schedule teams when many are looking for a sure win, and NDSU has consistently rained on those hopes.

Since we can't use the Scheel being hurt mantra if we don't score, they thought they would sit Jones so that excuse is still in play. We can also use the stats of when Jones is in and out of the lineup from this year and last.
