  1. Good point, as it is impossible to know if the coaches missed or if either party just weren't interested. For the sake of this thread, just put down players you think are no brainers that they should be after hard.
  2. Yes, like most people are saying that UND missed out on Bobby Brink, who is a sophomore. Alternatively, it would be interesting to see all of the guys who everyone is so excited about that we got and how they actually develop. People seemed really excited about Ryder Donovan when he committed, and that enthusiasm seems to have waned some already.
  3. Let's get all of these perceived misses by coaches documented before they arrive on campuses so we can look back and see how they all panned out. Let's use 2 years from arrival on campus as an arbitrary starting point.
  4. We shall see with Adams, but everyone is ripping the coaches for not getting guys like Benson and Lizotte, but guys like Hoff and Janatuinen were much more productive in the USHL than Benson. People seem to want to use criteria differently. Before a recruit comes in, he is scrutinized if his numbers don't match up to that of recruits on other teams, then when any arbitrary player from another team puts up better numbers than one of our recruits when they are in college, they are wondering how the coaches messed up by not recruiting them.
  5. I like our track record over the past decade compared to Minnesota's when it comes to putting a competitive team on the ice year in and year out.
  6. There are a ton of kids that put up numbers in Minnesota High School that do squat going forward. Heck, there are a bunch of players in the USHL that put up big numbers and do nothing at the college level. Numbers don't always translate to the next level.
  7. So you are sure that Denver wasn't after Tychonick, Bernard-Docker, Sanderson, Reid, etc.?
  8. Just saw your post now. Spot on!
  9. As is with most programs, it is all about how players develop. St. Cloud made big improvements from one year to another based on players improving. Guys like Bast, Kawaguchi, Adams, and Mismash will need to make a jump next year, but we have already seen some improvement from Kawaguchi. We could potentially have our top 6 scorers back, but that probably won't happen. We have competed well with the best teams in the country, it is the consistency problem that they need to address. Besides the improvement needed, a lot of it will depend on who we lose and who other teams in the league lose. As much as I like Simonson's compete level, I'm not sure we lose on offensive production from him or Trevor Olson. Hopefully someone like Hain will come in and surprise us. Just improving our penalty kill could put us back in contention when we are already competitive against the top teams.
  10. On a nightly basis, yes. The days of the 2 game total goal series are over. Those used to be either really dull if a team won handily the first night, or very interesting if it was close the second. Remember you could potentially be pulling your goalie late in the game when you were ahead in the game the second night.
  11. If there are traffic issues, people won't go downtown. Makes a lot of sense.
  12. But if you go by stats when looking at them in the junior leagues, like everyone seems to do, Hoff had better stats then Benson. Of course if they would have taken Benson and he didn’t pan out everyone would be questioning them like they are for many current recruits that aren’t putting up points. I don’t know many programs that would have offered Benson his Junior year in high school like St. Cloud did. You win some of those, and you lose some.
  13. Wasn’t Peski the one who was nowhere to be found on Poehling’s breakaway goal?
  14. Would be interesting to see where a win last night or tonight would have put us in the pairwise.
  15. So you must be expecting us to lose, but what if Western beats CC and Omaha loses to Duluth?
  16. The sad part is they may be killing the Golden Goose with their performance, as I’m sure less people will want to buy Regional tickets up front which will inevitably show in how much they dare bid in the future.
  17. It’s not the scoreboard, it’s the process is synonymous with getting your butts kicked.
  18. No, but I do not understand the fascination with him. They spend that whole shift in the zone chasing people, or just standing watching which led to the penalty. Never mind giving them a 4 on 4 earlier which led to their go ahead goal, instead of us having a full five. Then he gets put out on the penalty kill and because of his lack of speed, can’t clear a puck that most people would have gotten to. You can’t be aggressive with him on the ice. When he is the answer on the penalty kill and power play, you know you have problems. It’s like Berry wants to be their friend instead of instilling discipline. Better take down that “Speed kills” sign in the locker room if they haven’t already.
  19. I wonder how Jimmy Kimmel has gone unscathed with the "Me Too" movement and all the ramifications from it and his previous show "The Man Show" and it's blatant objectification of women. I think I can figure it out though.
  20. I'm not sure if it is as high risk anymore, as everyone seems to be recruiting them but not always following through if they don't develop, and the players don't seem too concerned about going back on a verbal commitment either. Most of the time schools know early on if the player didn't pan out or decided to go to Major Junior, so they have time to replace them.
  21. They might just be more apt to recruit young, despite them foregoing the Gentlemen's agreement, which seems to go against their argument. I know UND had their hand forced on a couple of occasions by Big Ten teams on local recruits because offers were either made or imminent.
  22. It's the same ribbon board since the opening of the Ralph, but don't let facts stand in your rants.
  23. Didn't Schlossman say next on the update list is the video board wrapping the lower bowl?
  24. May be able to play somewhere, but I would guess he would have to prove it in Junior hockey for a year or two. His save % with Central could be attributed to the way they play defense. His 94% and Bradbury's 92% aren't that far apart when you consider the defense on both teams.
  25. Guys making an impact in their 2nd or 3rd years occurs much more often than their freshman year. We need to hope that is the case on a few players. Would also help to get a few unexpected surprises from the freshmen class next year. Would be nice if there were an impact player that has eligibility left that graduated from another school that could transfer without sitting a year to fill in a recruiting gap, but that doesn't always work out how you think either. Wisconsin can attest to that.
