NORTH DAKOTA vs. ST. CLOUD STATE - Fri @ 4:08
homer replied to The Exiled One's topic in Men's Hockey
Pretty weak effort today. Disappointing. Not a championship effort. -
So in 5 years if you increase attendance by 20% year over year there will be 8500 fans. Gotta have goals.

2015 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament
homer replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Basketball
So what your saying is some years the Summit is better than others and the conferences vary from year to year. Different argument than last year. -
Wouldn't want to play them as 13. Don't know much about G'town but EWU will give them a game.

UND is D1 in all sports.

No. 2 Eastern Washington 91, No. 7 Idaho 83 No. 3 Sacramento State 70, No. 6 Portland State 60 No. 4 Northern Arizona 63,No. 5 Northern Colorado 57 No. 1 Montana 76, No. 8 Weber State 73, OT Top 4 seeds advance. Tonight should be a couple good match ups. Sac. St. beat EWU during the regular season and Northern Arizona may be playing the best basketball of anyone in the field right now.

Where was that said? I didn't see it in the article. I did hear the mighty 790 KFGO talk about it on all the talk shows last week. Your familiar with that one, the home of the bison. I do t think you need to look any further than the city limits of Fargo if you want to point fingers. I'll sit back and wait for that link

Adrian Peterson wants trade to Cowboys
homer replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Vikes got a first round pick for an injured Percy Harvin. AP is old (in regards to football) but he still has a few years left in the tank and teams that are a running back away know it. Who wants to win now? From the Cowboys perspective, Romo is getting older, Dez Bryant is a video tape away from being suspended for a season himself. Jones is a business man and knows that you pay to win when your close, no use waiting until tomorrow. Also, as a business man, Peterson puts butts in the seats of any team he goes to. If the Vikes hold strong on this, someone is going to give a first round pick. Don't sell cheap and don't fall for his agents game of causing a scene to get him released. -
It will be interesting to see how our defense does this year. On paper they should be better but our scheme will not be "new" to anyone. Offenses will have a full season to watch film on the consistent pressure we bring. What adjustments will Schmidtty make? Biggest adjustment would be if we get good enough up front to get pressure with 4 so we can drop 7 back every once in a while.

Adrian Peterson wants trade to Cowboys

Why let him dictate where he wants to go? Cardinals and Colts are also two teams that are close and need running back help. Put the feelers out and get rid of him. -
This rule is being looked at by commisioners of other conferences as well. IMO, this rule would have an effect on small schools for basketball and FCS football (if that is the only sports chosen). If for some reason they would decide to do this, you can bet scholorship limits would be raised for P5 schools to help with concerns about depth. The recruiting pool becomes smaller for smaller schools. I feel that is what is driving this. Raise scholorship limits, gobble up more of the talent and further widen the gap between P5 and everyone else. For football and basketball, there is no harm in sitting on the bench for a year if everyone is doing it and the NFL and NBA have age limit restrictions.

How about Denver? I don't understand how the hockey relationship can't be used for getting together for a basketball matchup.
-
So it has to be?
-
No they are all free to fail or pass as many courses as they would like.

When can we expect the first scholarship offer to the athlete based on ACT score?

Said by no coach ever.

One just has to take a look at the list if donations that were used to get the additional funding. They are tagged- basketball, athletic and football. No where on that list does it say academic endowments. http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/news/dsu/3679345-6-athletic-scholarships-funded-program-academic-scholarships So if Wrigley really needs to question whether these were awarded based on athletics or academics he should look at scholarships used to claim the money at the three schools.
-
My follow up question to Wrigley stating he is not sure if these "athletic scholarships" are given based on academics or athletics- Are you serious? How dumb does this guy think people are? How dumb do our state leaders think the people are?
-
So we are in agreement they are athletic scholarships?
-
My take away was that he is saying it's going to get harder to balance an athletic budget with an FCS football squad in your athletic dept.
-
I believe he mentions where a good chunk of the money comes from in the article. That money is the reason schools like Idaho can make it work.
-
It is in their contract with the big sky that they can void their contract if either Montana school or UND leave so there's that. One of only three schools they specifically named in their contract. As far as the rest, I think a handful of FCS conferences see themselves in the middle tier.

When the last time an athlete was given a scholarship to play a sport because of their grades. Also, below is an article about NDSU leaders, including their president and their complaints regarding funding. In the article, they want more money for their students and academics. This money could have been used for that but at the end of the day they spend it on athletic scholarships. It's fine if they want to bend the intent of this bill but any future complaints of funding should be disregarded. http://www.310tofargo.net/funding-fails-to-keep-pace-with-ndsus-growth/

Two and three were wakeful and right in front of the officials. I don't know how they missed the play right in front of the net.
