  1. IMO, you have it completely wrong. As long as the Viking stick to their guns, AD has no cards to play. If he doesn't play out his contract with the Vikings he gets no money, the Vikings still own his rights for 3 more years, he doesn't rehabilitate his broken public image (costing him endorsement $$$), and he makes no progress toward establishing himself as the greatest running back ever, which IMO is very important to Adrian.

There's no way Adrian Peterson is going to walk way from his career. By holding out against a determined Vikings front office, he would effectively be doing just that.

I agree with this. Adrian's public image is shot. If he follows up the incident of beating his son by sitting out a year when he is due 12 million dollars, he will go from one if the best ever to cry baby in most peoples opinion.

  2. Any more and they'll start chanting gopher rejects when we play ndsu

Not sure who the 2nd is but the first (Hjinosa) brings a ton of energy to the defense and is a welcome addition.

  3. trust me if und were the only big sky school to, as some on here say be proactive, there are plenty of other big sky presidents and ad's who would be picking up the phone to the commish! prior to the belief on here some schools in the sky view traveling to grand forks as big a drain as fcoa on budgets.

And how would that conversation go?

  4. Whatever happens, I don't want us to be permanent doormats and/or also-rans.  You think Brewster and Bubba are going to stick around under those conditions?  Like I said before, if the UND Alumni Association can raise $300+ million for an endowment, then there has to be a way to fund the FCOA requirements.  I would be willing to pay more in season tickets, Champions Club, merchandise, concessions, whatever.  I think everyone is going to have to step up and deliver to make this happen.

Sponsor blackjack tables at the Canad Inn, similar to Teammakers in Fargo.  That would easily raise the neccessary funds.

  5. IMO- this shouldn't be that difficult for Faison.  He needs to sit down and priortize each sport and what the best return on his investment will be.

    Mens

Hockey- remaining competitive will fund other sports

Football- who cares about the conference, the regional schools will offer it and we need to be competitive to start selling the 4,500 tickets not being sold on gamedays

Basketball- this money may be tied up in buying out a year of Jone's contract

    Womens

WBB- Fans pay to come to these games and enjoy them.  Don't let the momentum slip from thats been built the past two seasons.

    Volleyball- see above

Hockey- selling tickets for $1 doesn't drive revenue.  Have the facilities to get top women's players without the additional money.

  6. I'd hire him in a heartbeat. The guy has a backbone and he is principled enough to take a stand against the slimy, underhanded, 11th hour tactics and corruption of the administration. If anything, this kid is an astute, wood-be politician because he has seen how corrupt the administration is and he has seen how unpopular they are throughout the whole state and he is taking advantage of that. Good for him.

My only question is it this really 11th hour or him not being responsible enough during the first 10 to understand the whole issue?

  7. I would hope they go for more than $60. The problem is there are 18,500 tickets for sale and that pretty much maxes out their fan base. They would be counting on UND fans to drive up the price. At this point I don't see that many fans passionate enough to want to spend $250 to go. Will there be some, yes. But nothing near what people are thinking.

There is also the fan that just wants to watch the game regardless of who wins. There are a lot of them in Notth Dakota. $200-$250 tickets wouldn't surprise me.

  8. Funny how NDSU fans now think their tickets for the UND game are going to be worth SOOO much after seeing the West Regional tickets go for $400+.  Bad comparison.

This will be a hot ticket.  They would have no reason to believe otherwise.

Ticket prices will be well over face value in a 19,000 seat stadium.

  9. I am on forums. I don't represent a person with average interest in collegiate sports.

Funny you mention the basketball games. The first couple had some atmosphere. The last 3 have not. At all.

Ask the average college kid about the other school and you'll get a lot of comments like "ohhh.. That's right. We aren't supposed to like them."

The last two basketball games have been ass kickings that were over in the first 10 minutes.  They were pretty one sided.  I would argue with you that the FU crowd was not in the game vs. UND this year at Scheels arena.

  10. I completely agree. The only reason UND/NDSU football was big in the past was because they were both in the NCC. Football and basketball are pretty similar in that neither school could ever hope for getting a bid to the postseason without winning their conference title. There also are a similar number of games in both sports, so a non-conference loss in football doesn't mean anything to either school.

I can't tell if your being sarcastic with the last half of this post.

  11. As you all know, I am outspoken on this subject and will not belabor it here. But is this true? Are schools really playing this card against UND? Any evidence, or is this just speculation?

It would truly be a shame if there are recruits being swayed on such dubious grounds, and an even bigger shame that some grown-ups are sinking to that level.

Coaches have said so in the past.

I'm guessing it was more the NCAA threatening sanctions and the threat of not being in a conference. That would kill any low major program.

  12. This is 100% correct. All of the NDSU fans I know voted to keep it because they fully understood what could happen to UND.

Most I know voted to allow the school to do what they felt was best.  At the end of the day it is tax payer dollars that would be spent on this.

  13. Are 2/3rds the voters of ND connected to the issue? I currently live in SW ND and am outnumbered by NDSO alumni by 10-1. Do you let your neighbors decide the color of your house or name your dog?

Wonder how many of the 2/3rds had ulterior motives or just wanted the news story to change?

Ulterior motives would have been to pass it, force the school to continue to spend money to fight it and force the NCAA to put sanctions on UND.

Allowing the school and coaches do what they feel is in the best interest for thier programs is far from an ulterior motive.

  14. Be interesting to see the videos that will continue to come out by the Sioux were silenced Facebook page.

Also note, they have over 6,000 likes in about a 24 hour period of time. That's pretty awesome!

Over 2/3rds of the North Dakota voters "liked" the idea of allowing the school to move on.

    Dave

    I blame Hak.

  16. Jones needs to do a better job getting players in that will fit together.  I think a bunch of guys from the Twin Cities and Iowa would do that.  Last year guys like Nash and DeRoen didn't seem to be good personality fits with the team.  I'm guessing Coleman was frustrated with lack of playing time and one could question how/if that carried over to the locker room.

  17. One thing that is continuing to stay the same is the dismal performance of your sports teams. 2014-15 has to go down as the worst in UND history. Besides hockey ALL the rest have failed. Please keep Faison around for a long time.

Two women's programs "failing" was not reaching the NCAA tournament. Those are now the expectations. Men's hoops was disappointing, football was improved but work to do.

You forgot the other thing that stays the same, you constantly posting more about UND than most fans. Doesn't even matter if it's true or not right Dan.
