By your own emotional slant on "logic", aren't you responsible for this child's pain? Your desires have offended him. You caused him pain. Isn't possible that you are scarring him for life, and yet you don't give a damn? That's the same line of twisted reasoning that anti-nickname forces have used for years: that emotional reasoning is O.K. by you when used for your purposes.

What's amazing is that most of the major players in Bakken will be significantly increasing their drilling activity over the next year. Continental, Conoco, EOG, XTO, Whiting, Hess, Marathon, and Brigham are all significantly increasing their capital budgets for Bakken development. With the changing and improving economics of Bakken, this wave could extend for another decade. Harold Ham of Continental Oil Brigham Oil's major Bakken expansion

Forum: Best Buy Bison Arrested at Bison Baseball Game
-
Kids being recruited will sense that things are wrong on their visit. The bison players won't even be enthusiastic.
-
Hoping Goska gets a lot of quality playing time. He could really open up the offense, even for Landry's deep ball. We need game changers in the LB corps: going to the true 3-4 seems to indicate the coaching staff has confidence that Goodman and the other redshirt LB's can really step up.

Mizzou meets the AAU Big Ten requirements. Mizzou is traditionally on the list of schools where students study the least and are least satisfied with their education.

Funny how SDSU can be out-recruited and basically only recruits "choir boys", and still kicks the crap out of the bison. The bison football team had a leadership implosion last season - and no wonder - Best Buy carts were being wheeled out last Sept 1st. All the Bison teammakers and coaches can't put Humpty Dumpty leadership back together again - it takes more than a season. This NDSU Best Buy organized crime story is just one AP wire story from going national. Recruiting is going to tank because no parent is going want to see their kid in an orange jumpsuit.

16 teams is supposedly still on the table. Rutgers, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, and Missouri are reportedly the favorites. ESPN

UC Davis Women's rowing, men's swimming & diving, wrestling, men's indoor track Surprisingly, men's swimming is becoming even rare in California, down to the Pac 10 schools and a few Big West schools (UC Irvine dropped men's swimming too), while wrestling is almost becoming extinct (Bakersfield, which had a national caliber squad dropped wrestling, too). Perhaps UND should begin recruiting California heavily for swimmers. UC Davis cuts 4 sports UC Davis had been thought of as a possible school that could move to the WAC. They'd need a lot of alumni $ support for that to happen.

Where has anyone here called Bohl and Taylor thieves? You must be confusing them again with Chapman. The media is just making a big deal about nothing, right, Mplsbison? Just the biggest busted thief ring in FM's history and the media is over reporting. After all, only 7 of the defendants had any link to NDSU athletics.
-
Was thinking UND could host with Urban Plains as the rink. The women's Frozen Four doesn't need much seating (unless UND is in it, of course. )
-
The best thing is that UND stood firm (on this at least) and did not give in to the 2 for 1 arrangement that SDSU was demanding. We are not USD. SDSU had only 4 home games. Who was in the position of weakness? What isn't known is what the buyout is. By making the return game as late as 2013, there's an off-chance SDSU will have a free home game if UND somehow gets in the MVFC by that year.

What a line of B.S. One of the biggest theft rings in the history of Fargo-Moorhead and the media is blowing it out of proportion.? Get a grip. Why do NDSU fans attack the media, instead of addressing the real issue: their program. This wasn't an isolated stupid "mistake" by one athlete. This was entirely premeditated, repeated over months, and known and discussed by a significant number of NDSU athletes. Yeah, the media is always after NDSU. Perhaps if seven NDSU-affiliated athletes didn't repeatedly over a number of months roll carts of unpaid merchandise out of a Best Buy, NDSU wouldn't be in the news. But guess what? That type of news might not be uncommon in Los Angeles, but in Fargo it will make headlines and rightly so. For Taylor to claim this: it either means Bohl is completely over his head as far as character issues, or it means Bison football doesn't give a damn about character issues. Poor, poor Bohl and NDSU. The media isn't giving them any breaks. Bohl's program is defaming NDSU, not the media. Can that sink into your skull? This is the type event that brings down programs, and you blame the media? What an idiotic, self-absorbed, head-in-the sand statement. What bison fan who cared about his program wouldn't be demanding answers from Taylor and Bohl? Sadly, almost none. 2010 NDSU Felon list: 2 current players 1 player who signed and didn't make eligibility 1 walk-on who never made roster 1 walk-on who was ineligible 1 track athlete who was inelgible 1 basketball player for shoplifting 2 more football players under investigation +15 players suspected of receiving or buying stolen goods

It can work, but the travel isn't efficient. It's not like hockey where two teams play a series. With 11 teams, the Thursday/Saturday travel partners will not be consistent. One team will always have either an open weekend or will only get one game. That could mean Oakland traveling 3 or 4 times to the Dakotas to get in four games.

For scheduling reasons, they really don't want UND until either Southern Utah leaves for the Big Sky (very likely to be announced this summer after the PAC10, MWC, WAC, Big Sky moves clear up) or if they add another school. If the Southern Utah move happens, the Summit would really want a 10th team soon thereafter. Southern Utah would need to give like 18 months notice, so it's not like UND could be playing in the Summit until 2012 at the very earliest. 2013-2014 is more likely.

Beleaguered Bohl on Best Buy's Bison Boys What about six months ago when merchandise started showing up? To the State Pen? What kind of statement is that?
-
Could you imagine being a player on the team, having concerns, going to the coaching staff with them, and then essentially being told MYOB?
-
With the kind of scandals and police interrogations surrounding the team, no way does this team outperform. Last season, the Best Buy events were ongoing. Due to the extent of involvement, much of the team had to have known that there was hot merchandise floating around. There almost had to have been divisions between the players that had high ethics and those that didn't. Any wonder why there wasn't any team spirit? How is that going to heal in time for this season? Ironically the whole fan base was after Mertens who was on the ethical side. Bohl's philosophy is to let boys be boys up to a certain line. He just doesn't move that line back far enough. The NCAA doesn't put programs on probation for crimes committed by its players. It won't be putting NDSU on probation unless Bison recruits were receiving Best Buy "gifts". Relax, bison fans, the gifts part was a joke.

Some interesting quotes:
-
Yeah, I'm sure the Best Buy manager would be happy to share with you and all of us the details of a criminal investigation.
-
Actually see this as very significant: an elected official makes a statement that is non-supportive to the SBoHE. The SBoHE itself needs to remain friendly with elected executive and legislative officials. Contacting local legislators and expressing displeasure isn't a bad idea, either.

Seems like sour grapes. Weren't you guys celebrating the fact that NDSU will now be on both KFGO and KFYR? Now you're saying radio isn't important? Now that it turns out that KFYR is in a non-exclusive deal with NDSU, and UND gets more newspaper coverage in Fargo, Jamestown, and Dickinson, as well as more TV coverage in Fargo, Bismarck, and Minot, and KFYR returns as the Bismarck radio station, who came out on top with the media musical chairs? Radio: slight + to NDSU (more stations) Broadcast TV: major ++'s to UND (WDAY-TV as well as Bismarck and Minot stations) Newspapers: major ++'s UND, no remaining newspaper booster for NDSU Satellite: landslide for UND (zip for NDSU) Local cable/Midco: landslide for UND National cable: no comparison, FCS/UND
-
The big hole with the WDAY deal was the Bismarck media. Forum communications covers the Bismarck and Minot TV signals, but not radio. Wasn't NDSU reporting that KFYR was now in their network? Did NDSU landing KFGO make KFYR rethink it's strategy? Mary also is broadcast on KFYR, so the AM 710 broadcast makes sense.

What is the world coming too when message boards and Facebook report the scoop before the mainstream media? So do Bison fans really still disbelieve that the Fargo Police Department has paid a few visits to their spring camp?
