There is practically no way that SDSU or NDSU will move to the Big Sky in any capacity. (with one exception: if NDSU somehow thinks that would be the stepping stone to get in the WAC.) The Big Sky rejected those two time and again, and since then, NDSU and SDSU are so "very thankful" that they were rejected, as the Summit is the greatest thing ever. They were jilted lovers of the Big Sky, and twice scorned, they have way too much ego to look in that direction. Besides, both believe that they are insiders into full MVC membership. USD wouldn't want much to do with the Big Sky either, unless a MVFC slot seemed impossible. If somehow it happened, a football Big Sky might look like this: North: Montana, MSU, UND, USD, UNC, EWash South: ISU, WSU, SUU, NAU, UCDavis, Poly The regular (non-football) Big Sky would possibly look like: Montana, MSU, EWash, Idaho St, Weber, Utah Valley, SUU, NAU, UNC + Grand Canyon U in Phoenix

Not sure how O'Day sees 14 to 16 either. BSC 9 + GW 5 = 14 but subtract Sac and Portland = 12 Maybe add USD (San Diego) + UCSD + UUSG (Utah-St George - formerly Dixie St) + CWU = 16, but those are all long shots.

You're lacking in comprehension skills. This issue is a Big Sky football-side conference: O'Day isn't suggesting all-sport membership for USD (or UND, Cal Poly, UC Davis). USD doesn't have MVFC membership and would likely take the bird in the hand rather than wait.

The true example of arrogance was Chapman - spent every dime he could get a hold on any project that would boost his ego. It would be entertaining to see a Chapman trial, but that would be expensive too. At least justice would prevail this one time.

The Attorney General's office may end up footing the bill. Criminal investigation is their responsibility. Wonder if Bisonville will be contributing to the Chapman Defense Fund?

Great Falls: Expansion rumblings around the Big Sky Montana's President Dennison, who has been stridently opposed to moving up to FBS, is retiring in August. If and until Montana has a President that is pro-FBS and pro-WAC, Montana to a Boise-less WAC is likely not happening. Montana AD O'Day seems to believe that Portland State and Sacramento State would be the choices for a WAC bid, as both have FBS-ready facilities. In the meantime, O'Day seems to be on record wanting an expanded Big Sky football conference. UC Davis and Cal Poly would gladly join the Big Sky in football only, but would leave the Big West (which doesn't have football).

According to the USD schedule, look for UND to be in an NDSU Tournament Sept 17-18 with the following teams : UND NDSU USD SDSU Tulsa

Be interesting to see if the Sioux volleyball team can continue to improve with an even tougher schedule and the loss of key seniors. Montana Tournament (Sept 10-11) Temple Montana Utah State North Dakota

GF Herald This is the type of major corporate presence GF has needed for years.

Chapman's too busy building his retirement house in Colorado to comment. There's much more to come, if the SBoHE ever releases NDSU's magical operations budget. So NDSU fans better hang on tight: they haven't seen anything yet. The legislature will surely recall NDSU's purposeful disgressions and let them wallow in their own dung for a biennial.

Doubt that Sanford Health itself would make the donation, but T Denny Sanford would. Mr Sanford is worth around $1 Billion, so it wouldn't be a stretch. By making the donation, he could name the BSA whatever he choses. By chosing Sanford-Merit Care as a name it would create goodwill within the FM area that was partially lost when Merit Care merged with Sanford Health.
-
What will $35 million buy the BSA? Will it get rid of the draft in the BSA? Allow seats, no benches? Will Sandford have them dig down to get a decent court, and risk flood issues? Is an outside makeover in the works?

It's time UND starts instruction on the concept of emotional intelligence, starting with the faculty.

And you have direct knowledge of this? In continuing news, the Bison lose two more players

No one was arguing the logo and the flag have the same symbolism. Really, I think you are missing a major point here. The Sioux logo has now become a symbol among nickname supporters of democracy, liberty, and free expression. Few other sports logos have that distinction. If the Sioux logo survives, it would have even deeper meaning, history, and significance than anyone now realizes.

The precedent of the referendums are powerful. The tribes may very well agree that only a referendum may retract the nickname, keeping tribal politicians out of the issue. If Standing Rock votes and approves the nickname, the legitimacy of the Sioux nickname becomes ironclad. GF Herald editorial

Prior to the DI move, Kupchella had insinuated that NDSU was fudging it's budgets, including athletics. Wonder if Taylor can survive what's coming up. The sad thing is Chapman could probably raise huge amounts of $'s from NDSU alumni for a defense fund. Hanson's probably more hated than any UND guy among certain Bison fans that needs some basic lessons in right and wrong.

The analogies are not proper. First off, Jew refers to someone of a faith and has unfortunately been derogatory. If a name like Hebrews or true tribal names like Israelite, Levite, Judah, Ephraim, etc were used, no one would object. Sioux does not refer to a faith, but a tribe.

Agree. If a high fraction of the football team knows about an ongoing theft ring - but does nothing - they are still immoral. All the good deeds Taylor sets up for them for doesn't undo the six months of silence.
